MFP Color Challenge - Blue, Lime, Red

"Cats are glorious creatures who must on no accounts be underestimated.....
Their eyes are fathomless depths of cat-world mysteries."
                                        --------- Lesley Anne Ivory

Hi, Friends......

Here I am with a card to help us beat the heat....hopefully!  This is for the MFP Color Challenge - Blue, Red, Lime.  With those colors, I immediately thought of Christmas....so I am surprised no one else making samples and entries went with a holiday theme.

I stamped this Jumbo Poinsettia, a prize from Stampendous (THANKS, Stampendous!!), with Black Staz-on on watercolor paper and watercolored with my waterbrush.  I also brushed on some metallic silver Gelato for a bit of sheen and frosted it with some holographic glitter, which you can see in the angled photo below.

I don't have a die large enough for this half-fold card, so I traced around the edge of my largest fancy-edged die on the two ends of this DCWV red foiled cardstock and cut it out and mounted it on ice blue cardstock.  Some silver snowflakes and a silver bow finished everything up.

Hope you like my Christmas card.  Have you started making Christmas cards or crafts yet?

Have a lovely mid-week!!

  1. Wow, this is just spectacular!! Love that jumbo poinsettia and you really fancified it (very technical term, I know..) with the glitter and Gelato! I often trace and hand cut a shape if I don't have the die for it as it's a great way to expand your design options without trying to buy every single die out there! That red foiled cardstock really showcases the beautiful watercolored image....everything is just perfect! I typically wait until the last minute to make my Christmas cards but I may just start earlier than usual since I pulled out some of my Christmas supplies and stamps to do the Christmas in July challenges out there this month. We'll see though because I try to do that every year and well, you know...... : )

    1. Thank you so much, Karen!!! "Fancified"....I like it. Problem is that sometimes I don't know where the line between fancified and cheapified is! Ha.
I've really enjoyed seeing your Christmas in July projects!!! You have a great head start on your holiday crafts!

    1. Thank you, Christie!! You've been a little bit busy this summer, so no summery cards is completely acceptable! lol.... Glad you like my poinsettia. Watercoloring an image like that is still a little bit scary for me, but the waterbrush helps a LOT!!!
