Owl Always Love You

Our dog wishes she could do this with a kitty!!
"Cat said, 'I am not a Friend and I am not a Servant.  I am the Cat who walks by himself and I wish to come into your Cave.' "

Hi, Friends.....

I am back with a quick card for a second entry into the MFP Speedy TV Simple Salutations Challenge.  The theme this week is to base your card on your favorite subject in school.

As I mentioned in my last weird post, I majored in biology.....way back in the dark ages!!  My hubby did, too, and that's where we met.  <3 <3 <3  We had a lot of classes together, but some of the best ones were our field classes.

Owl calling in Ornithology still ranks as one of our fondest school memories.....where our class would go out in the late evening to view owls by playing recordings of owl calls to attract them over to us.  Currently, we live in a place where a huge and rather rare species of owl, the Great Gray Owl, is quite common. We love seeing them.

Since owls hold such a special place in our hearts, I decided to make a sweet little owl card to send to hubby while he is away on an extended work trip.  I want him to know I miss him and that I appreciate how hard he works.

I wanted to keep this super simple and unadorned.  Face it, most guys just don't really care much about cards...and especially are not interested in fluff.  I liked the DCWV plaid background paper, though, and I hope it doesn't look too girly.

My owl stamp is from the dollar rack at JoAnns and the I Love You is from Lil Inker - Rainbows and Clouds Sentiments.  They are both stamped in Distress Ink - Broken China and not even heat embossed.  I rounded all the corners and put the sentiment up on foam.  How's that for simple?   I think he will like this card.

Oh, my goodness....I have been the very lucky random winner in some challenges lately!  You can see my latest badges in my sidebar.  I just love those badges and I hadn't had any new ones for a long time!!  Thanks so much, Vandicrafts and My Craft Creations!

And, as always, a HUGE THANKS to MFP!! You are my go-to, one-stop blog for the most wonderful challenges everyday!!!

Hope you liked my card and enjoyed hearing about owls. Hoo wouldn't? ;)

    1. How cool that you are a birder! I like to think I am, but I don't go out birding very often. I just enjoy seeing the ones that make themselves obvious!! Ha. I do try to plant things around the property to attract them, though. Have you seen Great Grays?

Thanks so much for your nice comment on my card!

  2. Whooooo loves owls? I do!! I have quite a collection of owl stamps but this cutie is a winner! You are so right about guys usually not liking a lot of fluff so the plaid paper is just the right amount of pattern and color! Now I have to go check out your earlier card so I can read more about your college biology antics!

    1. Thanks so much, Karen!!! I love it that owls are so popular right now, because they are just the cutest things!!! Well, in real life, they aren't exactly cute....but they are intriguing, in a ruthless predator sort of way! Ha.

Some of the little owls are cute. A number of years ago hubby found a little bitty saw-whet owl in our chicken house one night hunting mice. Now THAT is cute!!! Awwww.... He got it safely out and on its way, elsewhere.....before one of our mouse-hunting cats got it.

College biology antics? Oh, Karen, you have no idea!! Ha. Those were the days!!!! But we all have to grow up, eventually. :) Still, lots of great memories.

    1. Bella....you found my blog!!! :) :) :) I wasn't sure if anyone ever looked at that line at the bottom of all my emails. Ha.

Weren't those owl-calling adventures fun? (As well as all our other biology misadventures?!!!) Do you remember how in owl calling it seemed like we'd always accidentally rewind the taped great horned owl call too far? In the stillness of the night, as we tried our best to avoid making any extraneous noises or whispers.....a booming voice would proclaim "GREAT HORNED OWL". Blew our cover every time! But the owls didn't seem to mind. hehehe... The digital age has taken all the gamble and risk out of owl calling!!!

      Hey, a k-rat card would be wonderful.....if only I had a stamp!!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. Hope you will come visit me often!! Hey, you could come really visit me, too! I don't just mean on my blog. :)
