My Best Shot

"The real measure of a day's heat [or how warm you have the house!] is the length of a sleeping cat."

Hi, Friends............

I did it!!!

With this card, I managed an entry in all SEVEN, count 'em seven, of the Winnie & Walter WCMD Week of Challenges!!!!  I am really pleased.  There is no extra prize or anything for doing all seven challenges, but I just wanted to.  :)

This last one was the On Trend with Lea challenge which was a puzzle for me because it asked you to make a card with the trendy camera theme.  I am not a camera bug and don't have any camera stamps or papers, so I didn't think I could finish out the challenges.  But I searched and searched through my stash and finally found this little Glitz camera rhinestone button:

That's not a very good picture of it, but it is what I based my entire card around.

The only thing I could think of for this card was to make a faux photograph and use the shiny camera piece.  So out came a stack I didn't figure I personally would ever use, but that eventually my granddaughter would:  the DCWV All Dolled Up Stack that has paper dolls and accessories in it.

So, I chose one of the gals in the stack and put a little tropical-looking outfit on her and a Prima flower in her hair.  Then I found a palm tree looking background from the DCWV Premium Photo Stack and "snapped" a vacation shot.  :)

I mounted the photo with Scrapbook Adhesives white photo corners and put her on a background of exotic paper.  The camera in the corner was all that was needed for additional embellishment.

So....what do you think?  I will probably use this for a young teenage gal at some point....turn it into a birthday card, perhaps.  I think it will work.

This challenge was a stretchhhhhhhhhhhh for me, but I gave it my best shot and ended up having fun with it...even though I was rushed here at the end.  A big THANK YOU to Winnie & Walter for the tremendously fun time I had entering ALL SEVEN of your WCMD challenges!  (Whew!!)  I am so grateful you kept your challenges open for the whole week!!

  1. Oh gosh Janis, this is just adorable and so darn clever!! What a great idea to turn this into a little faux scrapbook page! That cute paper doll on her tropical vacation and the little camera button are imaginative and fun! Congratulations on completing all 7 challenges...you deserve a big hand!! I am most impressed that you were actually able to find that little camera button because I am always pawing through my stash for something that I just "know" I have, but can never find.

    1. Since last weekend when I made this card, it has really grown on me! Thanks for your positive comments on it that made me take a second and third look at it. I think last Saturday I was just so glad to get it completed and all my W&W challenges done that I didn't want to see another card for a few days. Ha!! But now a week later I have grown to love this sweet little gal in the photo. Thanks for your encouragement!!

    2. Don't you love it when you are just trying to finish a card and you aren't even sure that you like it all that much...but then you start to see it in a new light? This card just makes me smile every time I look at it and would be so perfect for any little girl or a woman who is young at heart! I voted for this one on the Artistry challenge because I like it so much.

    3. My daughter really liked this one, too. It was so different from my usual style that the surprise delighted her. I think the little paper doll gal is cute, too, but it almost felt like cheating to use her!!!

    1. Thanks, Sue! It was kind of crazy around here near the end with Grandma saying to Little Peach..."I can't help you right now, go ask your mommy." But I got them done. Whew.
