Snowy Shaker Card

"A dog will flatter you but you have to flatter the cat."
                                                                              -----------George Mikes

Hi, Friends.....

A third post for this evening and I am still not caught up!!  I wanted to be sure to get this one in for the MFP FOSTV - include a moving element challenge.  So glad shakers qualify, since I am using my Card Candy from the other day....and they are all shaker pouches!!  :)  The one I chose for this card has a little Mark's Finest Paper snowman image from their Calendar set.  Cute!!!

Do you notice something on this card that you've never seen me use on a card before????  For the answer, keep reading, Lizzie.....

First of all, special mention to two inspirations for this card:

I was really impressed by some simple and lovely Christmas cards made by Guest Designer, Louise, over at Jennifer Grace's Frosty Festivities extravaganza.   (Did I mention there are prizes?????)

Also, look at these fun wintery colors on Joanna's Inspired by Stamping monthly challenge!  So icy and snowy!!  I had to make at least one entry.  :)

Here's a close-up of my shaker pouch and the sweet little snowman.  I stamped him in London Fog Memento ink in case I wanted to watercolor him, but decided I liked him just in gray.  What do you think???
Now here is the answer to the above question.  What appears on this card that I never use???  Washi tape!

Perhaps I don't really know how to use it...or else it doesn't seem to fit with my style...or something.  Maybe it's because I don't have that many rolls of it (less than 20!).....I must be the only one with that few, right?  Ha!  Anyway, I never use it on my cards and rarely on other projects.  But, for some reason, it seemed right for this card.

I wasn't sure if it would look decent on top of this dry embossing, but I was pleasantly surprised with the result.  The texture really doesn't show through all that much.  Anyway, what do you think?  Did I do it right?????  I sure hope so!!!  :)

Thanks for stopping by to see my card.   This is another in my easy-mailer series...and....I think it would work as a masculine card, too.  Loving that!!!  Have a lovely rest of the weekend!!

  2. Your Frosty shaker card is adorable, Janis! Once again, you have shared a fun photo - the last several doggy photos have brought big smiles to my face - and of course, all your cards look fabulous! I hope you are doing well and having fun! xo

    1. Thanks, Donna!! Glad you like the doggies. Even though I am totally a cat person, we do have a dog, also. She is homely, but so devoted!! We all love her despite ourselves, so I can also appreciate funny dog pictures.

So nice of you to stop by!!!

  3. Yay!! You get a hip hip hooray for using washi tape!! It adds just the perfect touch of pattern and color and doesn't compete with the colorful sequins. I really love this card! I just finished making a white embossed card with a little pop of color too...so we must be on the same wave-length. That little snowman image is just right as well! So fun seeing how you've used these shaker pouches!

    1. Thanks, Karen! Even though I am years behind everyone else, it's fun finally to use some product that has been sitting around. I might be leaving my washi out and try to use it some more this season.

    2. You do realize of course that if you lag far enough behind everyone else, you will eventually become a trend-setter as the fad comes around again!? So I like to think that you and I are just so far ahead of our time that we only appear to be pulling up the rear! I need to keep some of my washi tape out on my desk too so that I remember to use it! Now shaker cards still scare me but those shaker pouches seem tame enough for even this timid crafter!

  5. I have lots of washi tape, but I don't use it that often on projects, I mostly use it for taping up giveaway prizes and shop orders which I always wrap in tissue paper, with a bit of washi tape to hold it closed! Love how pretty it makes it!

You've used it well on here though, I like how it shows the texture through it. The snowman looks good left grey in my opinion! Thank you for joining in the Frosty Festivities challenge! x

    1. Thank you so much, Jennifer. Your Frosty Festivities weekend was a lot of fun. I am hoping to get a few more projects made to link up, too.

Using washi with tissue and gift wrapping is how I have used most of mine, too! I agree about how pretty it makes the packates.
