Hi, Friends.....

I am here with the first of two cards I made with my absolute favorite way to make backgounds:  my molten technique.  I love to play with embossing powders, and let me tell you........this process really burns through them!!!  I need to start buying them by the pound!!  Ha.  (Now, wouldn't that be a lot of ep??!!)  This card is in my favorite Christmas color combo:  blue and silver....(swoon!)

In addition to playing with powders, I also love anything shiny!!!  So I had to get out my DCWV foiled cardstocks, too.  Did you know that a stack of this gorgeous stuff is in my Christmas giveaway???  :)

I started my sparkling background by dry embossing some violet blue cardstock with my Darice Snowflake embossing folder.  Then I Versamarked over the entire surface and sprinkled with sparkly light blue embossing powder.  I tapped the excess off with a fairly heavy hand so the background color would still be somewhat visible after zapping with my heat gun.

After that step, I brayered the background with some Versamark so only the raised parts (for the most part) would get embossed, and sprinkled on silver powder and zapped again.  The more you repeat this step, the higher relief you will get on your design.  I think I did this one 2 or 3 times.  Love this look!!!!

With such a great background, you don't want to cover very much of it up.  I used some simple die cuts (Christmas Tree Die and Modern Christmas Die) that were prizes from Clearly Besotted (THANKS!!!) and a banner with Joy to the World stamped and embossed in silver.  I mounted this on an ice blue card base.  Done.  :)

Hey, I picked up a new follower today while doing this post!!  She follows by BlogLovin, so her lovely portrait does not show up on my sidebar.

Joyce Casaldi of Paper, Scissors, Sew! designs or has designed for a bunch of companies and has a blog filled with awards and such for her amazing work.  She is also participating in the Coffee Lovers Hop and is offering blog candy! You don't want to miss out on her lovely tags for this hop or on the chance to win a fantastic prize!  Thanks so much, Joyce, for becoming a follower and letting me know, since I wouldn't see it otherwise!!  This ginormous smile is for you!!!!
:))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

That's all for this post.  I have another almost identical card in pink that I will post next.  Hope you enjoyed my molten technique.  Thanks for your lovely comments!!!

  3. Oh my...silver and blue are one of my favorite color combos and I just can't admiring this card! The blue looks even richer with the contrast of the shiny silver and your technique of using an embossing folder and them heat embossing the heck out of it is on my list of favorite things to try ASAP! I would babble on about what else I love about this but I have to get packing to go to my daughter's so will have to come back later. This is definitely one of my favorite cards of the month, bar none!
