Winter Thank You - Scraps on my Table 2

"Sometimes he sits at your feet looking into your face with an expression so gentle and caressing that the depth of this gaze startles you."
                                                                    -------------Theophile Gautier

Hi, Friends.....

I am back with the second post of the day.  I made several cards in the last day or two and am now catching up on posting them.  :)

Seems like I am always needing thank you cards, and most especially at this time of year after receiving so many wonderful gifts from friends and family!  So when I saw that Mark's Finest Paper Sketch with a Twist had a Winter theme, I knew a thank you card was in order.....and I had the scraps and snippets right on my table for making it.

Here's the sketch they gave us this time:

Here's my take:

I went for a rustic, distressed style this time.  I had a scrap of DCWV patterned paper looking at me and also a snippet from Echo Park's Winter Wishes collection.  I pulled out the letters from that same collection to spell out my greeting.

I wanted to enhance the patterned paper, so I stamped and heat-embossed some snowflakes with an image from MFP's Calendar set.  I also added some opalescent white sequins that have a pale pink sheen at just the right angle.  I liked how these went with the subtle pink in the paper.

I tied a bow around it with some light blue plastic raffia.  I don't really care for this stuff, so I have been trying to use it up.  Despite my indifference, what do you bet I will end up being sorry to see it gone???  Ha.  I still have some, though, so it will be a while yet.

Hope you liked my Scraps on my Table 2 card.  I am loving using some of these up!

    1. Thanks so much, Di!! And thanks for mentioning that you like the raffia. It does seem like just the right thing for a card here and there, but I still am not really crazy for it. It sure is easy to work with, though. I will say that for it. :)
      I appreciate your nice comment!!!

  3. Love the idea of using up bits and pieces of left-over stash...and sneaking in that plastic raffia (of which I also have more than like...and am determined to use up eventually!). I have to say that the raffia really looks wonderful with your papers and design so you may find yourself regretting it when you run out!). Your addition of stamped and glittery snowflakes and those adorable little pink sequins really turns this card into a gem of a project! I may be inspired to add some sequins to a card myself here!

    1. I am totally serious abt this using up the scraps thing....and using up the plastic raffia! Ha. Maybe I should have sent the rest of mine to you for Christmas to add to your own....hehehehehe!!

And...about adding sequins. Now that the weather is chilly, my usual liquid glues don't hold them securely. I am having to resort to Beacon 3 in 1.....and then I end up with all those sticky gluey tentacles....enough for a squid family reunion! Fortunately, the strings wipe off fairly easily after they are dry.

      Thanks for your sweet comment!!!

    2. Sequins still scare me to death, and now that I've read about your sticky gluey tentacles I think I'll wait until Spring to give them a try!

  5. Hi Janis. Saw your wonderful card over at Pixie's Snippets Playground, as a highlighted card. Well done! Love the tri panels on the front of it, and what a wonderful idea to add more dimension by the extra stamping done on the background paper. This was a pretty sketch, and what a lovely card you made following it. Just became your newest follower, so pleased to see you at the Playground. Hope you'll have time to visit me as well. Looking forward to making a new friend. The Playground is a super place for that, as well as finding lots of inspiration and good companions. TFS, Hugs & Happy New Year.
