Coffee Lover's Hop

Awwwwwwwww.........
"Two cats can live as cheaply as one, and their owner has twice as much fun."
                                                                             -----------Lloyd Alexander

Hi, Friends......

I am back with a card for Amy Tsuruta's Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.  In case you are not familiar with this event, there are tons of stops on the hop with lots of coffee (and other hot beverage) goodness and inspiration.....and tons of prizes, too.  Some prizes you can win by leaving a comment (like right here on my blog entry)...and some you win by entering a springy, hot beverage-themed project.  The hop is open for comments and entries through Friday, March 6, 2015.  So.....grab a cup and join in!!!!

I'll be sharing some extra coffee cat photos today.  I hope you enjoy them.

Last Coffee Lovers Hop, back in October, I was lucky enough to win a Stamplorations coffee (and other beverage)-themed stamp set (Eat Drink Be Merry), so naturally I wanted to use it for this hop.  :)  (THANKS, Stamplorations, for being such a generous sponsor!!)

I decided a big sunrise would be perfect for a springy coffee card.  Recently, I was wowed by Dawn Heald's fabulous technique for making these sun rays.  I had to try it!!  It's such a fun and easy technique and.....uses scraps....YAY!!!  :)  I dry embossed them with my Darice - Interlocking Circles folder...and inked them with Distress Ink - Mustard Seed and Worn Lipstick to give the dry embossing a little bit more definition.  I added some thrift store lace and bling for fun.  Hope you like it.  :)

Okay, now for a little RAK giveaway to sweeten up your day.  I'll try to make it more appealing than the little RAKs I find on my back door mat from my outside cats!!!  Ha.  How does this look?

Okay....to enter the random drawing for this little prize, please leave a comment here on this post indicating to me that you would like to win this prize and PLEASE LEAVE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS (in code is fine) by 11:59 pm PDT Sunday, March 8, 2015.  If I don't have an email address for you, I can't notify you that you have won.  If I can't notify you, I will have to redraw.  I don't want you to miss out!

Thanks so much for stopping by. I appreciate all your kind comments. Did you know I also have another RAK going on? It's on my Unity FWF post. Hey, it's my birthday today and I can de-stash if I want to!! :)

Here's one more coffee cat for you:

Have a lovely day and beginning of your weekend!!!

Thank you for the honor of entering this card in the following challenges:
1. Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop
I will find some more challenges soon.... :)

Okay, one last shot for you. My craft table has been taken over by Mount Heap-opotamoose, so sorry for the mess. This is the coffee mug I am using today. I have a big collection of kitty mugs to choose from, but the Le Chat ones are some of my faves.

See the Piroulines in background?  BD surprise from daughter and granddaughter.   :)

It's My Birthday!!! - Friends with Flair

Happy Birthday to Janis!!!!!

"A cat isn't fussy -- just so long as you remember he likes his milk in the shallow, rose-patterned saucer and his fish on the blue plate. From which he will take it, and eat it off the floor."

Hi, Friends....

Hey, hey......Today is my Birthday!!!!  So I am posting some cat birthday photos that I have found.  Today is special on my blog for several reasons, too.  First of all, it is Friday so it is Unity - Friends with Flair day....Hooray!!  I already have had my big February Triple Giveaway that included my Birthday Giveaway, but I found a duplicate stamp that Unity sent me one time so I am having a tiny little RAK giveaway for it.  More about that later....

Second, today kicks off the Spring Coffee Lovers Hop
envisioned and organized by the super-sweet Amy Tsuruta.  I have a special card I will be linking up for that hop and have another little RAK giveaway for that post, too.  So be watching for all the terrific festivities here and all over papercraft blogland today!!!!

Today I am sharing an easy birthday card I made for a girlfriend who shares a birthday with me.  How fun is that???  She loves so many of the same things that I do (like cats!) that this Birthday Week Checklist card for her could easily apply to me!!  Happy Birthday, Cathy D!!! (For some inexplicable reason, known only to computer and internet wizards, I couldn't link this photo up for my thumbnail on Unity. Please let me know if you are having trouble viewing my card!)

My checklist stamp is from a Unity grab bag (not the one that I won recently....I am still looking forward to that one arriving!!!) My dear sister-in-law sent me a humongous container of about a million super-gorgeous gel pens for my birthday. (THANKS, Polly!!!) So I used one of them...a glittery deep green....to write down things on the checklist that my friend (and I) need to do in the next week for our birthdays!!!

I didn't follow a sketch specifically for this card, but I have seen simple ones like this.  I thought stacking the papers looked great under the checklist......and was a great way to use scraps!!  :)

I made my background with another Unity grab-bag stamp.  This one is a fancy swirl and you can't really see it well, but I still like the depth it adds to the background.  I Versamarked it and embossed with clear powder.  Then I rubbed on some Gelatos - tangerine, gold champagne, and pistachio.  A twine bow finished off this easy and fun birthday card.

Now for my tiny little RAK giveaway........since I already did my big giveaway but can't let my actual birthday go by without giving something away on my blog!!!.......

When you comment below, please tell me if you would like to be entered to receive my little extra Unity stamp and please leave your email address (in code is fine) .  Who knows....I might find a few other little goodies to include when I send this off to the winner.  :)  I will draw a random winner from among those who said they'd like the stamp on Thursday, March 5, 2015 and announce the winner next week on my Friday Unity FWF post.

Thank you for stopping by my blog.  I appreciate all the wonderful comments and well-wishes.  Have a lovely Janis' Birthday....I know I am.  :)

A Sad Time for a Blogging Sister

Hi, Friends.....

No funny poster or quote today because I just read where one of our blogging sisters, Terri Scott, of Terri's Tries @ Making Cards just lost her husband, Bob, to cancer.  I know you will want to write her a comment of support and sympathy on her post announcing this sad news.  If you wish to send her a card, I would be glad to forward them on to her.  I don't want to give out her address, of course, but you can send them to me....and I will mail them to her.  Contact me through the form on my sidebar and I will give you my own address.

Blessings to each of you papercrafting sisters for your care and concern for this grieving member of our community!

Hi, Friends.....

I am back with my last entry into the current Waffle Flower Photo Inspiration Challenge,  using their wonderful color palette.  I have had so much fun using this inspiring combo and I am going to be sad to put these papers away.

This time I used stamps from Inspired by Stamping's Graceful Hydrangea set.  I stamped the beautiful hydrangea image and the sentiment each with Distress Ink - Stormy Sky.  I love the bare stamped look for this, so I didn't even heat-emboss.

I pulled out a tag (Hooray, I actually used one of these!!) from a dollar rack tag pad in my stash to layer beneath my images.  A wisp of chiffon ribbon adds an airy touch.

Here you can get a little closer look at that fabulous script on the sentiment!

The K&Co. background paper has a hint of foiling on the swirls.  You can see it a little bit on the photo below.

I added a couple sets of knobby little adhesive pearls to finish it off and mounted the front on a cream card base.  I rarely use much yellow, so I was pleasantly surprised with how much I loved this card.  I really like the vintage look it has.  Thanks, Waffle Flower, for such a lovely palette to use!!!

Ding, ding, ding.....New Follower Introduction Time!!!

I am so excited to see that, again, I have a few new followers to introduce!!!
Dawn Heald's blog is called Crafting Dawn till Dusk......such a clever and fun blog name!!!  Speaking of clever and fun, wait until you see some of Dawn's projects!  I see Dawn on Friday's Unity Friends with Flair linky parties and I will just say that she is endlessly creative with her 3-D art and cards.  There is one technique, in particular, that Gail drew attention to that I really want to try.  WOW!!  Oh, and did I mention that she has some adorable cats???  :)   Thank you so much, Dawn, for becoming a follower.  Your encouragement means a lot to me!!!  This smile is for you!!!!
:)))))))))))))))))))))))

Donna G -- I couldn't find a blog or other information for you, Donna.  Maybe my Grandma-brain just wasn't processing it.  Ugh.  If you have a blog or gallery link that you would like for me to post....please leave me a comment!  Nevertheless, here is your ginormous smile....exactly what spreads over my face when there is somebody new (like you) on my sidebar thingy!!!  Thanks for becoming a follower!!
:))))))))))))))))))))))))))

As always, thanks so much to each of you faithful readers.  I love your visits and your kind words.  Be sure to leave a comment on my Giveaway post for your chance to win one of three prizes!!!!  The doors close tonight at 11:59 pm PST.

Hi, Friends....

I am back with another card for the Waffle Flower Photo Inspiration Challenge and their fabulous color palette.

I made this background using my favorite technique of "double embossing".  (I like to think of it as my "signature" technique!!)  This time I used the "extra layer" I had slipped inside my Darice Poppy Field embossing folder when I made the background for this card.  I often put in a second sheet to keep my cardstocks from getting cut by overly enthusiastic folders.  The happy result is that it gives me "now and later" backgrounds to use.  This is the "later" one.  :)

I heat-embossed two times with white powder to give the raised pattern even more texture and to provide more contrast with the blue.  Then I adorned it very simply with a border strip from my stash and an easy sentiment panel, raised up on foam.  The stamp is from a retired Clear Dollar Stamps set called Easter Blessings.  I used Distress Ink - Stormy Sky and heat embossed with clear powder.  I mounted the front onto a kraft card base.

Hope you like the card.  I like to have sympathy cards on hand and ready to give so I don't have to make one in a hurry.  I was glad this background seemed to lend itself to that.

Thanks for all your very nice responses to my giveaways.  I appreciate all the terrific comments and well-wishes!!!  I am getting my packages ready for the winners that will be randomly picked tomorrow.  Can't wait to see who my winners are!!!!

Hi, Friends.....

I am here with another card I made for the Waffle Flower Photo Inspiration Challenge, using their fabulous color palette.

This time I tried making a long, skinny format card. (Can you believe it is the first time I have ever done that? I am soooo crazy-attached to the familiar!!)

I kind of had to make it long and skinny because of this floral image I used.  I got this and others in a thrift store grab bag....and I wasn't even sure how they were supposed to be used.  They might be decals....but I decided to use them for cards.

I put this pretty one through my Xyron sticker maker so I could adhere it easily to my patterned paper background.  It worked perfectly.

My sentiment is from Quietfire.  I love the rustic, vintage look of it stamped with Distress Ink - Brushed Corduroy and embossed with clear powder.  I inked the panel slightly with the same pad.  I put this on some thrift store burlap mesh ribbon and added a 3-D bird sticker from a prize.  LOVE the texture from the ribbon and that serene little bird!!!

I added a twine bow and then decided the color of the twine was too pale.  So I carefully sponged some of the same Brushed Corduroy ink lightly on it....all this after the bow was attached to the card!!  It wasn't too hard because I slipped a piece of scrap paper underneath it to keep the ink from getting on the background.  The color difference is subtle, but I like this better.

This card was really fun because I was able to use a bunch of scraps and thrift store items.  Love getting to do that!!!  It sooooooo justifies me buying more craft stuff!!  Hahahaha.

Hi, Friends.........

I am back with another card using the pretty Waffle Flower Photo Inspiration Challenge color palette.

For this card I used a retired Clear Dollar Stamps image from the Genuine Love set.  I have some lovely scripture stamps and I am trying to use them more often!  I have been admiring how different crafters have stamped a background behind their sentiment, so I thought I'd try it this time, too, on a doily.  I stamped the background flowers, from the same set, with Distress Ink - Antique Linen.  Then I stamped the sentiment with Distress Ink - Walnut Stain.  I mounted this on a layered and embossed background I had made.

I liked the stamping on the doily, but thought it needed something......sequins!!  :)  I picked out a few colors from a thrift store mix and ringed them around the sentiment.  LOVE how this turned out!!

Next I clustered a vintage kraft bird from Maya Road with some butterfly and flower sequins.  I stamped the birdie with the same background stamp to give him a patterned coat and adhered him strategically to cover up an errant glob of glue!!!  Eeeek!  I really like how cheery the little guy looks.

The bird actually is supposed to be folded around a stick pin, but I rarely use the pins.  I put a piece of foam between the folded layers for some dimension and used it, as is.  (Now what do I do with all the pins????  Ha.)

I layered some coordinating Prima flowers and a sequin and then attached some tendrils I made from some thrift store craft wire.  I got a bunch of colors in a little grab bag, and hadn't figured out how to use them yet.  Recently, I saw somebody had put tendrils on their flowers.  (WHO was it????  Ack!!  Maybe somebody on Friends with Flair???  Anybody remember???  I am so bad abt losing track of great ideas!!   Why, why do I not think to Pin them????)  I loved how it looked.  So I tried it with this gold color wire....wrapping it around a pencil and securing with tape and glue behind the flower.  LOVE it!!!

Hope you enjoyed my card!!  Thanks so much for all your comments and encouragement.  Be sure to enter my giveaway if you haven't yet!!!  Hope your weekend is lovely!!!

Hello, Friends.....

Hooray!!!!  I have so many new followers that I am devoting a post just to introducing them!!!   I would love to introduce you, too, so be sure to leave a comment and let me know you are a new follower because my grandma-brain Google misses things sometimes.  ;)

So hang on to your hats.....here we go..................

Donna K from @ Studio 307 and is on the design team for several challenge sites.  I see Donna mostly on Fridays at Unity's Friends with Flair linky parties where she links up her fabulous cards.  Donna's cards range from whimsical (with vicious fishes! Ha. Yes, I know there's just one fish, but vicious fishes is so much more fun to say than just vicious fish!!) to inspirational to drop-your-teeth gorgeous....like the one that is on top today for FWF.  Thanks so much, Donna, for becoming a follower.  I appreciate your support and encouragement!!  This ginormous smile is all for you!!!

:))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Dorothy Burt of the Buzzy Bee Cottage has just recently started blogging again.....although she started her blog several years ago.  You will be able to understand why she's been a bit busy with other things when you read her profile.....mom of 5, grammy of 8, homeschooler (Yay!!...we homeschooled, too!!), etc.  Dorothy is looking forward to being a more active blogger and I am sure she would appreciate some new followers.  Thank you so much, Dorothy, for becoming a follower here.  This ginormous smile is what breaks out all over my face when I see a new little profile pic up on the sidebar!!!

:)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Lorraine is from Paper Venissage.  (I had to look up what "vernissage" meant--a private showing of art work before an exhibition opens.....turns out she had the definition on her sidebar already!) Lorraine is endlessly creative and has such a variety of projects on her blog.  I greatly admire her ability to use Washi tape in a gorgeous way.  (So far the only thing I can think of doing with washi is plaster it all over envelopes!)  Just for fun she also made an intriguing 3-D paper shape. (Icosohedron???!!  I had to look that one up, too--a polyhedron with 20 faces.  Who says papercrafting blogging isn't educational????  Ha.)  I am still trying to figure out what HWNSNBP means....lol...  Lorraine, I appreciate you becoming a follower here.  This ginormous smile is all yours!!!

:))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Rebecca Yahrling or Becca, as I think she likes to be called, is a brand-new follower, too.  I don't know if she has a blog or not.  I didn't see one listed.....but Becca if you have a blog I didn't find, please leave me a link (or tell me more about yourself so we can get acquainted a little bit) and I will introduce you more betterly.  :)  Thanks soooo very much for becoming a new follower.  I appreciate it more than I can say.  This is the ginormous smile that lit up my face when I saw you joined up here.

:)))))))))))))))))))))))))))

And I have some new followers by email, too!!!  Email followers are very near and dear to my heart.   When I first started out visiting blogs and such, I didn't understand what the Google Friend Connect follower sidebar thingy even was or meant.....still not completely sure I understand!!!  Ha.  When I followed a blog, it was by email subscription.  A lot of bloggers didn't have the follow by email button, and so I couldn't (or didn't know how to) follow.  But I found that I LOVED getting posts delivered to my email so I wouldn't miss a thing.  I have to say that I have pared down some of my email subscriptions, but still receive dozens and dozens each day into my inbox.  I consider it a very high privilege for someone to choose to have my posts delivered to their inbox, too.  So I want especially to mention and to thank my newest email subscribers.

Iris has not posted on her The Iris Blog for awhile, but you can see she has a delightful sense of humor from some of her sweet and punny cards. Be sure to check out her sidebar where she lists current blog candy she runs across.  Yum!!  Iris, I appreciate so much you following me by email.  This ginormous new-follower smile is especially for you!

:))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Ruth is from Handmade Cards by Ruth, I believe.  She makes very lovely cards and projects......and has sold them from her Facebook site in the past....but doesn't seem to be doing that currently.  I didn't see a blog mentioned.....but if you also have a blog, please let me know where to find it!  I would love to introduce you better.  Thanks so much for becoming a follower by email!!!  Here's your ginormous smile!!!

:)))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Thank you so much........each of you......for visiting my blog.  Whether or not you are a follower, you are appreciated!!!  Your comments and visits mean the world to me!!!

Have a lovely weekend!!!  And be sure to enter my giveaways, if you haven't yet!!

Hi, Friends.......

I am here with a card I made for Unity - Friends with Flair.  I used the color palette for the current Waffle Flower Photo Inspiration Challenge:

Doesn't that color combo look intriguing???  I have had a lot of fun playing with it.

For today's card, I used the Unity - She is Without Fear, an itty bitty I chose as a prize one time.  (THANKS, Unity!!!)   I really love this encouraging scripture verse.

In preparing for making several cards for the Waffle Flower challenge, I gathered a bunch of my scraps that were in the palette and prepared some backgrounds.  This one features my layered, double embossing technique.  I dry embossed with my Darice - Checkered folder and then heat embossed several times with gold powder.  This really heightens up the texture!

I stamped my sentiment with Versamark and heat embossed with deep turquoise powder.  Then I rubbed each edge of the sentiment panel on the pad and heat embossed with gold powder.  I colored in the petals of the flowers with my Wink of Stella glitter pen for a little extra pizazz.  :)  You can see the gleam a little bit in the angled photo below.

One thing about spending time making the background special....which I LOVE to do!!....is that the card needs very little extra embellishing after the sentiment is added.  Love that....because I wouldn't want to cover it all up.  :)

Hope you have enjoyed my card.  And I hope you will enter my giveaway.  I was going to publicize it around to get more people to see my blog,  but I decided with a giveaway this big I wanted to make it especially for people who actually come to my blog to see my projects and not just casual visitors.  So, I don't mind if you tell others about the giveaway, but I am only going to have an announcement at the top of my blog.  :)

I have some new followers....YAY!!!....but I will introduce them in a different post.

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

BIG FEBRUARY TRIPLE GIVEAWAY!!!!!!!

"When you're special to a cat, you're special indeed.....she brings to you the gift of her preference of you, the sight of you, the sound of your voice, the touch of your hand."                                                                                  -------------Leonore Fleisher

                                                                                            ----------Beverly Nichols

Hi, Friends......

I am back with what some might call a CAS valentine.  I am pretty rigid in my definition, so I don't consider it truly CAS.  But......I still like it.....a lot!!  :)

I used my Darice - Swirly Pattern embossing folder and didn't add any powders this time!!

Do you like these Add a Little Dazzle die cut hearts against the black????  Oh, my....I am totally in LOVE!!!

It is super simple, but I adore this valentine with these frilly hearts.  What do you think?
Hope your weekend has been fabulous!!!!
