Hi, Friends......

Things are really busy around here with the October calendar filled up and with me getting ready for my Cat Lovers Hop coming up Oct.24-29.  My list of generous sponsors is just amazing!!  I can't wait to get it all finalized to share with you.  :)  I took time off from all the hop correspondence to make a card or two to share with you.

I was inspired by the farm lady and the bits of orange and blue in the fabulous magazine cover from this week's Papercrafter's Corner challenge.  It immediately made me think of my stash of Graphic 45 collections that I hoard with the protective instincts and glittering eyes of a mother dragon!  lol....

(Did I mention that Graphic 45 is one of the Cat Lovers Hop sponsors again this year??!!!  SO EXCITED!!)

I pulled some images and papers from several Graphic 45 collections:  Place in Time, Bohemian Bazaar, and Come Away with Me.....and put together this card.  I was tickled to find a farm-themed magazine cover image in the Place in Time collection.  It's not the "right" month, but the inspiration magazine cover photo isn't October, either!  :)

I call this a "faux fall" card, because at first glance it appears to be an autumn card with the warm colors and crisp blue....even the butterfly rather resembles an autumn leaf.  But it is actually a spring card!  lol...  Hey, I work with what I have! The G45 piece had a May date on it (even though it was from the AUGUST calendar page!!)....and you notice she is ready to plant...not harvest!  You see, I'm not the only one that is confused about the month!!!  Ha!!

I was delighted to be able to use a small scrap of gold punchinella (from a previous project) under my Prima butterfly for this card...also some checkered ribbon with a bit of cyan in it for Mrs.A's Butterfly Challenge of Butterfly plus Checkered and/or Cyan.  The butterfly seemed a little bland in its original plain yellow-tan color, so I stamped some random marks from a fall leaf stamp with Distress Ink in Tea Dye to add a bit of interest.  I also used an alcohol marker to tint the colorless gem body a golden color.  I like this look better.  :)

That's all for this card.  I'll share my second card (made from scraps of this one!) later today or this evening.  See you then!!!

  1. I love the checkered ribbon which does look lovely against the orange paper background. I do like graphic papers but not the cost of them so can understand why your coveting yours so much. Thankyou for fluttering by my butterfly challenge where your card will be entered twice for the prizes. Hugs Mrs A.

  5. Wow Janis, this card is so similar in feel and theme to the vintage magazine cover! The Graphic 45 papers couldn't be more perfect. Even the hair color and curls on the woman are the same. I love the rich warm colors of your paper and butterfly, and stamping the butterfly wings with a leaf stamp adds wonderful texture and interest. So happy to see you crafting again and can't wait for the Cat Lovers hop!
