Valentine Making Party

Hi, Friends.....

I mentioned a few days ago that I had held a valentine card making party for the gals at our little church. Several could not attend, but we still had eight ladies there to play with paper and ink...which was actually a pretty good number. I bundled up several bags and boxes of things to take, another cardmaker friend brought things, plus a gal and her two teenage daughters brought some supplies.

Here are some pics from our craft day:

This table was our "Choose your Paper" station.  BEST WAY TO USE SCRAPS EVER!!!  lol....  I brought a bag each of pink scraps, red scraps, black/white scraps, and brown scraps......and a bunch of them got used!!!  YAY!!  That's good enough motivation for me to do another craft party soon.  lol....

The other cardmaker in our church brought a bunch of lovely intricate diecuts for the gals to use!! They had a ball playing with these gorgeous and delicate cuts!! You can see them at the end of the table here on the left.

This table was for diecutting and embossing.  I had not planned to include heat embossing, but one of the gals brought supplies for it.

This table was the stamping table.  Between us we had a good selection of valentine stamps to choose from.  I added reinker earlier to my "craft day" stamp pads, but they were still a little bit dry....and, of course, I didn't bring the re-inkers with me!!  Good thing one of the other gals brought her stamp pads!

I designated two tables as work stations where the actual construction took place.

Most of the gals made valentines to send to family members, but one gal had a great idea to also make a few to send to some ailing members of our church that can't get out much.  I made a couple for her to use.

Here's one I made.....using scraps, naturally!  :)  (All except the scripty background paper and the card base.)

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set
Darice - Nesting Hearts die set
Darice - Nesting Scallop Circles die set
Impression Obsession - Serendipity Love die
Butterfly diecut - one a friend brought to the craft party, not sure of brand
DCWV scraps!!
Core'dinations/Darice white cardstock for card base

Hope you enjoyed the party shots and my card! It was a lot of work....but a ton of fun, too. I might even be up to doing another in a couple of months...so I can use up more scraps!! lol...  Thank you for stopping by today!!

  1. That sounds like a really fun day. Sounds like you had all the bases covered and everyone had a wonderful and productive time.

Your card turned out so pretty! I love when I can use up some scraps! The scalloped mat is awesome. I have a scalloped mat die but never think to bring it out. You've inspired me to put it right on my desk! :)

Thanks for sharing your Love is in the Air project with us at Cut it Up.

  3. Oh what fun this looks Janis! LOVE your card - I used kraft, red, white and black for Len's this year - but I like yours better. And of course the words scraps is every bit as good as snippets - I will go with either so not worried there.

I hated having to drop the number of challenges as I did but we were getting one card entered into 40+ challenges lately. And i can only count up to 10 :) Wink.

  4. Ooh, that looks like such fun! I carefully examined every photo to see if I recognized any of the products and/or die cuts, haha! Yes, I'm weird like that. My local friends and have decided to have monthly craft nights recently, and I think I'll "make" them work on cards on the night I host, instead of scrapbook layouts. Card-making takes up less actual work space, when compared to scrapbooking..and I don't even scrapbook anymore. So...if I host, I will insist they give card making a try! Your Valentine card is lovely and that scripty background adds a vintage touch that coordinates wonderfully with the sentiment font.
