Hi, Friends.......
Summer to me means clear blue skies with bright sunshine and flowers. Right now in early summer, the pastures around our house have an array of wildflowers blooming. My favorites are the wild daisies with their bright white petals and sunny centers.
So when I was asked to make an encouragement card, I knew what colors I wanted to use. I also knew I wanted it to have fresh clean lines and only a touch of frill.
I used several pieces of paper that I won as part of a blog prize that I think are from GCD Studios, but I am not sure. I also used paper and cardstock from DCWV and Coredinations. My stamped sentiment verse is from Clear Dollar Stamps - Scriptures of Peace set. (So sad they are not still making their clear acrylics!)
Sentiment from inside of card. |
I also used two challenges as inspirations for this card:
#1 - The colors I chose were from the current Just Add Ink challenge where you choose 3 of the 5 colors for your card. Guess which ones I chose. :)
#2 - The sketch I followed is the current one from Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2. I knew all the layers would look great with the papers I wanted to use.
Thank you for stopping by to see my encouragement card. Have a blessed and peaceful Sunday and new week.

Great use of colour and layout Janis and pretty DSP patterns too! Thanks for playing at Just Add Ink.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping in, Nikki, and for your nice words!
DeleteIs the blue I used okay for your challenge? When I was first looking at the color swatches, the blue appeared lighter on my computer than everyone else seems to be using. I do have another card I am making with a dark blue. Do you accept more than one entry? Thanks!

we are so pleased you shared this with us at TIME OUT as Nonni said we like to see all styles. The mix of colours are perfect here x
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Sandie! I appreciate both you and Nonni coming to visit and also answering my question. It seems that many of the designers at Time Out make cards that lean toward the CAS genre and a lot of your winners, too. Each challenge site is different with their preferences, even if they do not have specific genres spelled out. That's why I asked. :)

Wow Janis your card is wonderful, I adore your choice of your three colours I think I would have picked the same as well. Great design papers which work perfectly and your lovely sentiment with the use of the doily behind is a perfect embellishment for the finishing touches to a lovely card. Great card and thanks so much for sharing it with us over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 this week and good luck.

ReplyDeleteI didn't know you were on the DT for Time Out! When I saw your comment and how Beverley was spelled, though, I looked at your avatar and knew it must be you. I also should have recognized the Flower Power flower on your sample card for this challenge. :) Thank you for taking time to visit and to leave your sweet comment!
