Maybe It Would Work For Shaving, Too!!!
"Her function is to sit and be admired"
-----Georgina Strickland Gates
Hi, Friends.....
What to do....what to do..... Little Peach and her mommy are still gone and I could get the house straightened up since hubby is coming home from a work trip.......or I could make another card. Ha. That's a no-brainer. I can always pick up the house!!! But when do I get to make two cards in one day???? :) :) :)
This card is for the MFP Tutorial Time on Speedy TV Challenge - Shaving Cream Background.......except I didn't have any shaving cream. So, guess what I used.
You guessed it, I used spray whipped cream!!! LOL... And it worked!!! Time will tell if the cats try to eat my card. Ha. (I actually was truly worried about this happening, so I rinsed off my glossy photo paper extra well with a generous amount of water!!)
I used (or possibly abused) the wonderful tutorial included on the MFP Challenge for making my pretty background, choosing refiller colors that I planned for stamping my floral images (Distress Ink - Worn Lipstick) and some generic green ink.
The two-part flower stamps are a prize from Serendipity (I love you, Serendipity!!!) and the leaves are from Technique Tuesday - Two Steppin' that I received as a prize (THANKS, TT!!!). I love the arty effect of these two-step flower and leaves!!! I masked and stamped the outlines with black Staz-On and used an extremely ancient (to the tune of ~20yrs old!!!) green Marvy Marker for the leaf color. Yep, it still worked after all these years of being buried in who knows what box!! I mounted the image on DCWV pink cardstock. I also layered a couple different ribbons and some pretty rick-rack and then used some of the same pink ribbon for the bow.
After I got the card together, I decided to try stamping a couple more flowers and popping them up on foam. I have two thicknesses of 3-D foam, so I made one higher than the other. I like the effect. As you can see in this photo, just about everything is up on foam!!
Hope you like my whipped cream background card!!! ;) Have a lovely day!!!

Thank you for the honor of entering this card in the following challenge:
1. MFP Tutorial Time on Speedy TV Challenge #111 - Shaving Cream Background
Looks good enough to eat Lovely........Lis MFP TT
ReplyDeleteHehehe...I was kind of thinking the same thing when I sprayed that plate full of whipped cream. I almost put some raspberries in it, instead of ink refills so I could eat it afterwards!! Ha.

Too funny. I would never have thought to use whipped cream. Very creative. Thanks for joining us at TTSTV.
ReplyDeleteHey, we crafters have to get inventive when we live too far away from the store to run there every time we need a card supply, right? Even if it is something from the grocery or drug store!!! Ha!

Wow, that is beyond creative to use whipped cream!! I have to say though that I would have been hard pressed to avoid eating a bit of it before I was done! Your card is so pretty and I love all the extra layering and rick-rack. I chuckled when I read about your ancient Marvy marker because that sounds like something I would do. I have old supplies and stash that I have had forever and just can't get rid of. Being able to dig something up and use it makes the project even more special, don't you think? You can feel smug about being being ecologically mindful...hehe..
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Karen!! That old Marvy Marker had a bit of crust on the tip....crystallized ink....but once I brushed that off, it worked pretty well. I was amazed!

What fun! I think we need to try this again some time on one of our craft days :) And maybe eat some on dessert too! Beautiful card.
ReplyDeleteChristy, our group totally should do that!!! Crafts you can eat as you play. I like it. Hopefully, we'll be able to resume our craft days in September.
DeleteSome months back there was a challenge and tutorial series one of the craft blogs ran that used common kitchen ingredients for making cards. I will have to look that back up. I didn't participate, but it was loads of fun reading about it.....such inventive techniques.

Thank you for the best laugh I have had in ages, there is nothing like using what is on hand, how funny though to use whipping cream, were the cats purring around your legs and feet trying to get some with colouring too, what a bonus for them, cat heaven. Love the dog quote. As for your card it has turned out wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry for not getting back to you before now, my life can be ridiculously crazy at times and I have had the month from hell with working hours being too many. Thanks also for dropping by my blog after Danielle recommended me to you. I am now going to follow you by email, so bring on the wild ones LOL
Hugs Eliza & Yoda

Very pretty card, Janis! LOL! Still can't believe you used whipped cream! That kinda cracked me up! Smart thinking, though! Thought I would pop over, say hello and follow you. I'm a cat lover, too! We have two dogs and eight cats! They're all rescues except for my Westie dog. Wish we lived on a farm, I would gladly rescue more! Anyway, thanks for stopping by my blog and always leaving such sweet comments!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Lea!!! How wonderful you are able to have so many rescues, too!! With my daughter's family living here, our cat tribe has increased by 2 adult kitties and 3 kittens.....and a 4th kitten is being fostered and will hopefully arrive soon. That makes about 25 for us. Eeeeek!!! Good thing hubby is a vet!!! I need to get some photos of the kittens up on here.....if I can get them to hold still long enough!!
