GIVEAWAY: Viva La Verve Sketch Biltz - #7

Hi, Friends.....

I am back with Post #7 for my big 11-Post Blog Blitz where I made 11 cards using the Viva La Verve Sketch 2. I have a giveaway going on during this Blog Blitz so take a look at THIS POST for details. Comment on any or all of my eleven Blog Blitz posts answering the question(s) for each post to be entered.

Here's the sketch that I used for these eleven cards that I am showing you in this Blog Blitz:

On goes the saga.....

I liked the blue and orange combination in my previous card, but noticed the piece of floral scrap also had lavender in it.  Since I had enough scraps to make another card.....and since this big Sketch-travaganza was all about using up old things and trying new combinations, I was emboldened to make this one with lavender and orange.  What a combo, huh?  I don't think I have ever combined those two for the main colors on a card before.....(There might be a good reason for that!!!  lol.....)......but I did it and my twisted brain really likes the springy way it turned out!!  (Go figure....)

You can see that my use of Distress Ink for stamping my sentiment caught up with me and this one is all beady.  Oh, bother!  I even had used an eraser on the stamp first.  Oh, well....I used the panel anyway.  I wonder if the composition of this particular color (Dusty Concord) is slightly different than the others.  (shrug...)

Supplies used include:
Verve - Scripture Medley 2 stamp set
Distress Ink in Dusty Concord
Prima flowers

Now for the Question for Post #7:
Have you used any unusual color combinations lately?

That's all for now. Be sure to answer the questions on each of my Blog Blitz posts by 11:59 pm April 30, 2016 for lots of entries into my big Blog Blitz Giveaway! See you next post!

  1. I haven't used anything too unusual lately...I am working on a layout of pink/reds and brown...although that can be really pretty. I have used the orange and purple combo you used above and it is really bold and floral just like yours! it's been years, I can't remember what possessed me to use those colors.

  2. How fun with the purple and orange. I am pretty conventional in my color choices.

  3. Another pretty card, and I chuckled at the cat comic! You are the queen of using up scraps which I need to do more of myself. I think the most unusual color combo for me lately was a coral and teal card I did! Thank for joining in at Double D!!

  8. I like your color combination here! Just the right shade of purple and orange that makes it works so well, I think! I JUST made a card today with dark brown, white and gold that I thought might be a flop but the combination turned out great!

  9. Oh my gosh, your cat meme had me chuckling so long that I almost forgot to look at your card. Having been the cat mom of 5 cats who were all rescues, I know how one can lead to another, and another, and another. Craft supplies also have a habit of multiplying in the same way.

I love the way you've been trying different color combos to see what happens, and finding that all of them work really well. The more I look at this color combination, the more I like it, actually. I tend to be very conservative with color and keep going back to the tried and true so it's rare that I try an usual color combo, but my recent sketch challenge card using rose, gray and teal is one. I'm such a color wimp that mixing pink and yellow on the same card nearly gave me apoplexy!!

  10. The orange with the purple works well together. I tend to play safe with colours on my cards and they genrally all end up pink anyway!! Hugs Mrs A.

  11. I like that row of purple flowers!!
My recent blue, green and pink card (that you so graciously commented on) was a combo I would never have chosen if it weren't for that inspiration photo at ColorSnap. I'm glad because I liked it!

  13. I would not have thought to use those colours together either but I am trying to do more of this too. It's surprisingly pretty together. A great job!
I have used colours together (just recently) that I haven't used before and probably won't again but I did! Bright pink/yellow and gold! I know! Like I said, it won't happen again! LOL Really!!!!

  14. I usually try to stick with coordinating colors but I have made a few "scrap" cards with unconventional color schemes.....just to use up scraps.
Another great meme. I may have to repost that on Facebook!

  15. I like the orange and lavender. So pretty. I have a card for next week that was all yellow and tan and then I decided a coral stamped accent was just perfect. Not sure I would have ever come up with that combo on my own, but I like it.

  16. I agree, it is unusual, but pretty all the same. I am not too adventurous with colour combos!
