Hello, friends.
It is with great regret and sadness that I (Janis's son, James) announce that Janis passed away today after a long battle with various illness and infirmities, most recently from flu complications (as is our guess) from November.
She commented often of the craft community's generosity and kindness and I would like to thank you for that, for befriending her, participating in her Cat Hops, and all the e-mails and correspondence. The last several years were a rough and rocky road and I am grateful for all your support in sharing that journey with her, easing her burden and lifting her spirits.
While we will mourn the loss of a very dear friend, we may rejoice that she has completed her race, faithful unto death, and has received the crown of life from the hand of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ (Revelation 2:10).
Thank you again,
James

Thank you for your heartfelt and beautifully written post James. Janis and I had been online friends for many years and first bonded over our love of card making and entering challenges. That progressed to emails about family issues, hobbies, and humorous musings about things that caught our fancy. She was always so kind and supportive and I will miss her so very much. Her love of family always came through in her emails and posts, and she will be deeply missed by all who have known her. My words can't begin to express the loss that I feel and there will be such an empty hole in blog land with her gone. My deepest sympathies to your family as you navigate through this difficult time. Karen
ReplyDeleteJames, thank you for sharing the news with us. I feel a huge sense of loss to hear the news. Janis was so loved and will be missed very much. We shared our love of cats with her and looked forward to her fun Cat Hops each year, as well as seeing her regular posts and her card creations.
ReplyDeleteMy deepest condolences to you and all of your family.
I cant imagine the sadness you James and your family must be feeling. Janis and I exchanged many emails and the most recent just a month ago, and then I wished her hugs and love and hoped everything would settle down soon for her . Despite this, she never let on how sick she was and as always sent light and love. Her generosity is unsurpassed with her time and with her heartwarming words. I will miss the Cat Hop and have played along with Janis since its inception 8 years ago, though our friendship went beyond that. Janis built a wonderful community based on our love of cats which is far reaching and I've made wonderful friends which I looked forward to our annual catch up and shared love of crafting. We will all be heartbroken, I know I am. Sending prayers to you and your family, my deepest deepest condolences.

DeleteI’m devastated to say the least. She was such a wonderful friend. We exchanged FB messages and emails recently and I had no idea how poorly she was feeling. I’ll miss her so much. ❤️
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry, James. My deepest condolences. Janis was a good blogging friend and I will miss her. I am sure she will be missed from the blogging community throughout the world. She was a very kind person. Some months ago (in July 2022) I received a beautiful stamp from her, a wooden stamp with the image Scream by Munch. She sent me the stamp as a gift only because I told her that I love this piece of art. Also, in December 2022, I sent her a package containing a pouch made by me and some other little gifts too, because she joined my birthday candy. The package still has not been delivered to her. It is so sad. Hope that you James will get the package and please keep it and give the little gifts to family members. Do it as a gesture for her memory. Janis will be in my prayers and my mind. I will light a candle for her. I send you my warmest hug from Greece.
ReplyDeleteI am so very sorry for you & your family's loss. I loved Janis dearly and am so heartbroken, but I know she is in a much better place than we. She was a dear friend and I will miss her terribly. One of the cards she made for me sits in the windowsill of my craft room where I see it every day - I will cherish it and think of her every time I see it. Prayers to you & yours in this difficult time. XOXO

ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear this. Even though we never met in person I considered Janis a great friend. She will be greatly missed. I will keep your family in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteOh no... what sad news! I am so sorry!! My condolences to you James, and to the whole family! Janis was a very special person, so cheerful, sweet and kind, and at the same time strong and determined, with a great sense of humour and a big heart. She was young inside, of course. I will miss her very much, as I’m sure also all the crafters who knew her will. We shared the love for cats, as well as crafting, and we will always remember her, and how she finished her last Cat Lovers Hop in great style, despite her health not being good. I never thought she’d leave so quickly.
ReplyDeleteI am sure that the Good Lord welcomed her into his loving arms, because she was a very good person. I will pray for her and for you all, including the cats she loved so much and that I am sure you will continue to care in her memory. My deepest sympathy and my warmest hugs for your loss!

ReplyDeleteDear James, my condolences to you and your family. I am so very very sorry to hear about Janis. She touched the hearts and souls of so many people around the world with her love, generosity and wonderful happy personality. I exchanged some emails with her in December and know there was so much happening in her life with the family. As is her nature she didn't talk so much about her own challenges. My heart aches. I shall miss her, even though we never met. Take care of yourself and those around you and be assured she will be missed by more people than you can imagine. Rest in peace dearest Janis. HUGZ

ReplyDeleteOh, gosh, so hard to type this, James. I'm very sorry for your loss. Janis has been a dear friend for many years. She was a star, well-loved, and totally selfless. I'm shocked. She never once complained about her health and was always upbeat. Our loss does not compare with yours, of course, but this creative blogging community will miss her terribly. Even though this had to be a difficult post for you to write and it was extremely difficult to read, thank you for honoring Janis by letting her legion of friends know she passed. It's very hard to suddenly have a dear friend's blog go quiet and never know why. Wrapping you in prayers, love, and hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteI'm deeply saddened to hear this news! We at LeighSBDesigns are so sorry for your loss and send our thoughts and prayers to you and your family. It has been a joy to sponsor and play in the Cat Lovers Hop all these years and Janis will be missed! --- I have unfinished business with Cat Hop prizes due to my own crippling chronic health condition that causes my joints to dislocate and still need to contact some winners and hope to have things taken care of this week. Many hugs Leigh
