Girlfriend Card - Wacky and a Bit Retro

"They don't care if you like them.  They haven't the slightest notion of gratitude and they never pretend.  They take what you have to offer, and away they go."

Hi, Friends.....

I am back with a super-fun and wacky card.  I found this stamp set unused and unloved in a grab bag of craft items at a thrift store....never had been inked.  I have no idea what company they are from, but I am just quirky enough that I knew I would find a use for them.  Ha!

I was inspired by the current MFP Simple Salutations Challenge that said to use cardstock only.  I have a lot of patterned cardstock, but I wasn't sure if that was allowed....so I stuck to plain white and one solid color.

I also was inspired by this MFP background tutorial which is actually for Oriental cards, but I adapted the inking technique for my card here.

I inked up the ladies and the sentiment with Simon Says Stamp Soft Navy ink, and framed things with the  coordinating cardstock.  I won both of these and am delighted with the wonderful heavy weight of the cardstock.  Both are a dream to work with!!  (THANKS, SSS!!!)

I sponged with Distress Ink-Bundled Sage and Simon Says Stamp Sea Glass ink (...again TY to SSS!).  The photo here makes the Bundled Sage look brown, but in real life it is green and the whole color combo looks very retro to me.....kind of like vintage formica or something.  I mounted my sentiment with 3-D foam at an oddball angle to echo the pointy shoes going every which way!

Hope you enjoyed my crazy card.  It was really fun seeing how retro-looking it turned out.

  1. Ha, ha... Loving the retro feel. The colour and images kind of remind me of the Brady Bunch, but not quite sure why. Great snag from the Thrift Store! Thanks so much for Sharing with us on MFP's Simple Salutations. Good luck!
