With Deepest Sympathy

Hi, Friends....

I am back with another card for the Waffle Flower Photo Inspiration Challenge and their fabulous color palette.

I made this background using my favorite technique of "double embossing".  (I like to think of it as my "signature" technique!!)  This time I used the "extra layer" I had slipped inside my Darice Poppy Field embossing folder when I made the background for this card.  I often put in a second sheet to keep my cardstocks from getting cut by overly enthusiastic folders.  The happy result is that it gives me "now and later" backgrounds to use.  This is the "later" one.  :)

I heat-embossed two times with white powder to give the raised pattern even more texture and to provide more contrast with the blue.  Then I adorned it very simply with a border strip from my stash and an easy sentiment panel, raised up on foam.  The stamp is from a retired Clear Dollar Stamps set called Easter Blessings.  I used Distress Ink - Stormy Sky and heat embossed with clear powder.  I mounted the front onto a kraft card base.

Hope you like the card.  I like to have sympathy cards on hand and ready to give so I don't have to make one in a hurry.  I was glad this background seemed to lend itself to that.

Thanks for all your very nice responses to my giveaways.  I appreciate all the terrific comments and well-wishes!!!  I am getting my packages ready for the winners that will be randomly picked tomorrow.  Can't wait to see who my winners are!!!!

  3. I do like what you've done with the background. It has a hint of frost but the flowers are so pretty.

  4. Love this pretty floral embossing folder and the white heat embossing kind of makes it look like a negative of Delft pottery! The yellow border strip and simple sentiment are the perfect embellishments. As for your cat poster...that's a rascal if I've ever seen one!!
