Hi, Friends......
Here's one last Christmas card (didn't I say that already a couple of weeks ago??) before I get all my Christmas things tucked away. I made some others of this design, inspired by Jennifer Grace's Frosty Festivities, but I wanted to try one in red, too.
As with my blue snowflake ones, I used my Spellbinders - Carnival Dream die set with some Echo Park double-sided paper. This fun die set has a fold and tuck design so your reverse pattern shows. Instead of a snowflake, this red one reminds me of a stylized poinsettia. What do you think?
I die-cut a shimmery pre-made card base with my Sizzix - Circles, Scallop die set and used repositionable adhesive to attach the "poinsettia" on the front so the ornament can be removed and hung on the tree, if desired. The scalloped edge of the die cut allows the card to stand up nicely. And....since the card base was an A2 size, this flat ornament card will fit in a standard sized envelope.
The addition of some sparkling rhinestones and silver ribbon trim was all that was needed to finish this card.

The cats are all lying around the house in dark, quiet nests waiting out the weather. Little Judith was gone again for a few days, but showed up this morning. Jetta, the kitty who showed up again on Christmas Day after being gone for over a year, amazingly has pretty much stuck around since then. Perhaps she is finally getting too old to be traipsing back over to the old house! So glad to have her cheery and chipper little "rah-ROW!" greeting me on the back porch!! So sweet!

A pretty card Janis. It looks time consuming. Was it? Its very nice.
ReplyDeleteActually, it isn't nearly as time-consuming as it looks. For one thing, since the fold-and-tuck feature is basically the entire card, choosing the one piece of double-sided paper was a snap. (No browsing through all my paper choosing the ones I want to use which takes me waaaaaay too long sometimes! lol....)
DeleteThe folding part took about 15 minutes or so total for the three layers on this card. That can vary for me depending on how nimble my old Grandma fingers are being that day and how well my old Grandma eyeballs are working. :) Thanks for asking!

Thank you for your kind words!! This really was not at all hard to put together. The hardest part was making sure my diecuts had cut all the way through the cardstock I was using. :) I probably should buy one of those stainless steel shims!!! lol... The folding takes 15 minutes or so and that is most of the card. Thank you for stopping by!!!

Just thinking about folding all the little ins and outs of this die cut card makes my eyes cross...but what a beautiful effect. I still have your lovely blue and white version from Christmas sitting in my entry way...propped up on my sideboard! I figure I can get away with keeping it displayed until at least March 1st, since it looks like a snowflake...and not super Christmassy!
