Celebrate Your Day - Winnie & Walter

Happy 3rd Birthday to our friends at Winnie & Walter!!!

Hi, Friends.....

I am here to share a card I made for the big Winnie & Walter - 3rd Birthday Bash celebration over on their blog!!!

I want to take this opportunity to say a big, huge CONGRATULATIONS to Shay at Winnie & Walter on this wonderful 3rd Birthday milestone.  Shay is one of the sweetest and most generous gals ever!!  Here's to many more successful years for you and everyone at W&W!!!
You might know that there is hardly anything in the papercrafting world I like better than Winnie &Walter challenges, so I have been really excited finally to get started on some cards for this current celebration! Not only do they have a GIGANTIC giveaway, but they have 10 (count 'em!...TEN) different challenges (with fabulous prizes) that you can play along with.....including a chance at a big Guest Star slot, if you participate with at least 4 different cards starring their products!! I'm obviously not good enough for that (not being humble...just realistic!!!), but what I lack in talent I make up for in WILD ENTHUSIASM!!!! lol.... :)

I also am playing along just for fun in Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge where she asks us to use a butterfly(ies) with the &/or options of P is for Paper Piercing (that's pieRcing not piecing, as I first had thought!) and/or F is for the color Fern. I am using dies from the lovely Tonic - Rococo Juliet Butterfly stamp and die set that I previously won as a prize from this very generous lady. (THANK YOU, Mrs. A!!!)

For my card I pulled out one of my "Leftover Easter Egg Dye" backgrounds on mixed media paper from last year!! (Do any of you remember me making these after my granddaughter dyed eggs???? I couldn't let all that great colored water go to waste, could I??? Nooooooooooo!!)

I used my butterfly die and the single perforated border from my Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set, which I cut three times for the Winnie & Walter - Three Challenge with Shay. I carefully off-set the middle row so it would go off the edge of my cutting mat and not cut the last hole in the row. (I am extremely proud of how well I got them lined up so be sure to say something about that in your comments!!! Ha.)

After I finished my die cuts, I stenciled my background just around the edges with my Winnie & Walter - Scenery: Multi-Faceted Creative Screenings and Distress Ink in Bundled Sage....for the Winnie & Walter - Stencil Challenge with Kelly. (I TOLD you there were a ton of challenges to play along with!!) Then I picked out some scraps of a fresh floral print to put under the die cuts to look pretty and attached them to the underside of my green background.....which went onto a pink card base.

Do you like my wild scissors and crazy dollar store crafting glasses???  lol....  8)

I want to show you a close-up of my butterfly. This unique stamp and die set from Tonic has a two-piece die assembly where you can keep the butterfly attached to your paper and lift the parts for accent or snip its attachments loose so the whole thing can flutter away separately. I wanted to keep it attached for the Winnie & Walter - Off the Page Challenge with Keren.

I had in mind a different sentiment, but guess what!......A prize package from Winnie & Walter came to my door and I switched gears and inked up my brand-new Winnie & Walter - Sketchy Thoughts stamp set!!! Love it!!! (THANK YOU, W&W!!!) I matted the sentiment panel with another scrap of the same floral print and finished the card up with some dazzling sequins that Winnie & Walter included in my package as a sweet surprise. <3 <3 <3

Well.....that was a long post!! Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to read through it. I hope you enjoyed seeing my card and that you will join in with all the Winnie & Walter - 3rd Birthday Bash Challenges and in Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge!!  Have a lovely weekend!!!!

  5. Beautiful and I love the double butterfly cut from the two different papers. Great use of the left overs from the egg dying. Thankyou for fluttering by my challenge. hugs Mrs A.

  6. Wow Janis, you combined so many different products and techniques that I had to read through your post three times to soak it all in! High five for hitting so many of the W&W challenges in one card, and for your expertise in die cutting that resulted in a perfect border. That stenciled background looks fabulous and reminds me of an artsy out-of-focus garden, which this magical butterfly found on its journey. Your card inspired me to FINALLY make a butterfly card yesterday, and now I want to get going on the W&W ones as well. I still marvel at how you turned all that leftover egg dye into art!
