JOY

Hi, Friends.......

I am here with one more Christmas card for this month's Winnie & Walter Rerun Challenge. This time Shay is featuring her Comfort + Joy stamp set. I don't have this particular set, so I am taking inspiration from one of the design team cards. I was especially inspired by the lovely cards by Lydia Evans HERE. I adore the color combo of the patterned background (she stamped hers but I took a shortcut and used patterned paper) and the great big JOY for the focal and sentiment panel.

I dry embossed my Joy die cut with a lovely new folder I received from crafty friend, Karen Ladd. (Thanks, Karen!!!)

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - In a Word: Joy Cutaway die
Core'dinations - heavy duty white cardstock
Sizzix - Alpine Yule embossing folder
Scrap of DCWV patterned paper
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set (scalloped background panel)
Baker's Twine from a Winnie and Walter package <3
Silver sequins from my stash

This easy design can be adapted for any season or occasion with a different background panel and big word die. Love that!!

Thank you so much for visiting today and leaving your sweet comments. Best wishes to each of you for a lovely and crafty New Year!!!

Happy Holidays

Awww.....these kitties in the pic are sweet together.  I have a couple sets that are best buddies, but all the others are too jealous to even be civil toward each other!!  My cats are so naughty!!!  lol...

Hi, Friends......

Are you ready to ring in the New Year???? I sure am. Done with 2017 and on with 2018, I say. Well, before I am all the way ready for 2018, I have a couple of cards to share with you. They are Christmas cards which I will stash away for next year. I haven't been crafting much because of all the Christmas festivities.....and clean up afterwards!! My craft room was (and still sorta is) a complete mess!! lol....

I couldn't let the Winnie & Walter Rerun Challenge for this month go past without at least one or two more entries. This month Shay is featuring her Comfort + Joy stamp set. I don't have this particular set, so I am taking inspiration from one of the design team cards. I was especially inspired by the lovely card by Kelly Griglione HERE. I adore the greens and the sentiment strip of white embossed on black.

I found a green background in my stash of watercolor marker refill papers and used that with some snowflakes and my Winnie & Walter - In a Word: Happy stamp set for this card. You can't really see it in the photo (except on my black embossing), but I misted the panel with Goosebumps Clear Texture Spray for a glossy bumpy finish just for fun.

When do I ever get to use a shiny green snowflake???? On a green Christmas card, of course!  The other two snowflakes look black in the photo, but are actually highly reflective silver.

Products used include:
Winnie & Walter - In a Word: Happy stamp set
Versafine Ink in Onyx Black
Clear embossing powder
Versamark ink
White embossing powder
Goosebumps Clear Texture Spray
Pretty Pink Posh - Sparkling Clear Mix sequins
Snowflake sequins from my stash

Hope you liked my card in non-traditional holiday colors. Thank you so much for stopping in. I have one more card to share which I will be blogging shortly. Happy New Year!!!

Getting Your Cat Ready for Christmas.....

Hi, Friends.....

I've seen videos like this before, but it is being passed around again and gave me a chuckle.  I would love to see videos of others trying to do this.  I can tell you it would NOT be a pretty sight with any of my cats!!!  Ha.

Mewry Christmas to all of my cat friends out there!!!

Sparkly Stars - Winnie & Walter

Hi, Friends.......

I am back with one final, last-minute entry into the Winnie & Walter November Color Combo Challenge. Look at this wonderful inspiration palette that Heather gave us to work from:

I had this idea to die-cut some stars from super-sparkly glitter cardstock and put them on a blue background. I should have used something besides this DCWV glitter paper that is on a plastic backing of some sort. It is almost impossible to completely cut through when I use an intricate die. (Why don't I remember this from time to time...or at least write myself a note on the outside of the stack????? Nah...too easy!!! lol...)

So this arty look of leaving some of the pieces inside the star die cuts was not arty at all...it was necessity! I like it better like this, anyway. (That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :) )

I am also entering this card in the new Winnie & Walter Rerun Challenge.  Shay is featuring the beautiful W&W Comfort + Joy stamp set (also on sale right now!! Yay!!).  I don't have this set (yet!) so I am taking inspiration from Heather's lovely card with the star trio in tones of muted gray and blue.

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - True Multifaceted Star Cutaways die set
DCWV - Glitter Cardstock
Winnie & Walter - Sketchy Thoughts stamp set
Distress Ink in Walnut Stain
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set

Hope you enjoyed my card. Next time, different glitter cardstock!!! :) Thank you for stopping by.

Blue Roses - Winnie & Walter

Hi, Friends......

I am here with another watercolor card that I made for the Winnie & Walter November Color Combo Challenge. Look at this wonderful inspiration palette that Heather gave us to work from:

I love blue roses and had not yet used my W&W - Mini Scenery: Bed of Roses stamp. I knew it would be perfect for this challenge.

I heat embossed using
Stampendous - Clear Embossing Powder in Clear Bark and watercolored my roses with Distress Markers and a waterbrush. I kept this very simple and unadorned to let those roses take the spotlight. CAS is not my usual style, so this is about as clean and simple as I ever get! lol...

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - Mini Scenery: Bed of Roses stamp
Winnie & Walter - Kindness with Evelin T Designs stamp set
Distress Markers in Stormy Sky, Tumbled Glass, and Hickory Smoke
Versamark Ink

Stampendous - Clear Embossing Powder in Clear Bark
Mixed media paper
Core'dinations cardstock

Hope you enjoyed my card. It's been fun playing with simpler cards and some watercoloring techniques. I am a little afraid, however, that if I ignore my scrap bags very long, they will secretly multiply. When I go back to my usual layered cards there might be twice as many scraps as there were before!!  Eeek!  Thanks so much for stopping by!!!

Happiest of Holidays - Winnie & Walter

Oh, my goodness.....this fat wintertime kitty looks sooooooooo much like my Ophelia (a boy cat... long story....) who gets so fat in the winter we call him Loaf-elia.  :D
Hi, Friends......

I am here with a watercolor card that I made for the Winnie & Walter November Color Combo Challenge. Look at this wonderful inspiration palette that Heather gave us to work from:

I decided to make a very simple snowy watercolor scene using the emboss resist technique with W&W - Our Town stamp set elements and no embellishments at all. My painting skills are limited, so this was quite a daring endeavor! lol.... But I like how it turned out.

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - Our Town stamp set
Winnie & Walter - Scenery: Big Bang Confetti stamp set (for a few extra stars)
Winnie & Walter - Sketchy Thoughts stamp set (for sentiment)
Versamark Ink
Distress Ink in Weathered Wood, Hickory Smoke, Frayed Burlap, Ground Espresso, Stormy Sky, and Faded Jeans
White Sparkle embossing powder
Mixed media paper

Hope you enjoyed my card!! Thank you for stopping by today.

Everyday Wonder Woman

Hi, Friends......

I am here with a card I made for a gal I know who is going through some rough things in her life. She has no idea of how awesome and how strong she really is.

This starry background is one I made a long time ago, but it didn't turn out the way I had planned so I just stashed it away for another time....like now! :) I inked the raised stars of my Darice - Assorted Stars embossing folder with Distress Ink pads and then dry embossed as usual with a sheet from my DCWV Woven Stack. Since my raised stars were inked, I used the de-bossed side for my background. To make it even more sparkly, I die-cut additional stars from the DCWV glitter cardstock.
Supplies used include:
Unity sentiment stamp
Versafine ink in Deep Lagoon
Gelly Roll pen to color the little star on the sentiment panel
Darice - Assorted Stars embossing folder
DCWV Woven Stack
Winnie & Walter - Big Bang Confetti Cutaways die set (stars)
DCWV glitter cardstock
Baker's twine from stash

Thank you for stopping by!! I hope you enjoyed seeing this card.

From All of Us + Easy Masking Technique - Winnie & Walter

Hi, Friends......

I am here with a fun card that I made for the Winnie & Walter November Color Combo Challenge. Look at this wonderful inspiration palette that Heather gave us to work from:

I recently saw a wonderful card duo on Instagram by Catherine Gray that I wanted to try with my W&W So Tweet birdies. My card required a lot of masking, but I have a quick tip on an easy way to mask when you have the matching dies for a stamp set. I will share it with you below. I stamped and watercolored my birdies on mixed media paper and die-cut lots of little stars from glitter cardstock to add sparkle to my tree. I love how my card turned out!

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - LS Exclusives: So Tweet with Evelin T Designs stamp set (for birds)
Winnie & Walter - LS Exclusives: So Tweet with Evelin T Designs die set (for making masks)
Distress Markers - Antique Linen, Hickory Smoke, Stormy Sky, Tumbled Glass, Vintage Photo, and Walnut Stain
Distress Ink - Hickory Smoke and Stormy Sky
Winnie & Walter - Big Hugs with Evelin T Designs stamp set (for sentiment)
Versafine ink in Majestic Blue
Winnie & Walter - In Bloom: Hollie's Festive Florals stamp set (for pine branches)
Winnie & Walter - Big Bang Confetti Cutaways die set (for stars)
Scraps of DCWV silver glitter cardstock
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set (for scalloped background)
Core'dinations Cardstock in Navy Blue

Can you spot the sleeping kitty in the background?  That's my Jetta.  <3

EASY MASKING TECHNIQUE - (FOR WHEN YOU HAVE THE MATCHING DIES FOR A STAMP SET.)
When I first receive the matching dies for a stamp set...before I separate the individual pieces....I use the entire die framework to die cut a piece of plastic.  (I am using old developed x-ray film, but that's cuz I am married to a vet!  You can use make-your-own-stencil material or whatever you have on hand.)  Now I have ready-made masks either for the background or for the images.  Since this particular set had little dies nested inside the birdies (hearts, etc) there are perfect little holes for washi to stick through and secure the mask to my paper while I stamp around them.  Since the masks are a tiny bit larger than my stamped images, I just move them slightly to line up with the outline of my image on the side where I am working.  When I want to work on the other side, I lift the mask and line it up with that side.  Easy peasy.  These masks last and last....and since they are transparent I can easily see where I want to place them.

Hope you enjoyed my card. Thank you so much for your sweet comments!!! I hope you have a lovely day!

JOY - Winnie & Walter

Hi, Friends.....

Here I am with one more card for the the Winnie & Walter Rerun Challenge for this month. I have Christmas Community Bell and Choir Concerts this week, so I don't know if I'll be able to squeeze another project in this challenge before the gate closes. But I want to get this one in before I have to get dressed up for tonight. :)

This time I drew inspiration from Lydia's card with its fabulously festive stamped background. I hardly ever stamp my own backgrounds....(except for W&W challenges!)....so it is a fun change from my usual layers upon layers. Well, as you see, I did still managed to do sooooooooome layering. :) I even added a sprinkle of stars this time, too!

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set (scalloped background)
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set (straight-edge rectangle panel)
Winnie & Walter - In Bloom: Hollie's Festive Florals stamp set
Distress Inks
Winnie & Walter - In a Word: Joy Cutaway die
DCWV Glittered Cardstock
Tiny Gold Star confetti from my stash
Ribbon from stash

Thank you so much for stopping by. Your visits and comments make my day!!!

Happy Holidays - Gold, Black, Vellum

Hi, Friends......

Here again with another entry into the Winnie & Walter Rerun Challenge for this month. I again drew inspiration from Vanessa's lovely gold and black wreath card. I have really enjoyed using these rich and elegant colors!

Do you like that DCWV Mercury Glass background???? I totally LOVE it!! This is the stack that I had to buy THREE of before I would let myself cut into the first one! Ha. I heat embossed my sentiment on vellum to make an overlay, but the underneath pattern of the Mercury Glass paper doesn't show up too well in the photo.

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - In a Word: Happy stamp set
Versafine Ink in Onyx Black
Clear embossing powder
Winnie & Walter - In Bloom: Hollie's Festive Florals stamp set
Versamark Ink Pad
Gold embossing powder
M&C Boutique - Large Circle Frame die set
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set
DCWV Mercury Glass Stack
Vellum
Various adhesive rhinestones from stash

Hope you enjoyed this card. I have one more that I will enter into the Winnie & Walter Rerun Challenge. It closes tomorrow, but that still gives you time to join in, too!! Hope to see you there.

Red, Gray, and White Christmas Card

Hi, Friends.....

I made several different variations of this Christmas card using the Stamper's Anonymous - TH Christmas Miracle and the Viva la Verve November Sketch.

I also drew inspiration for this card from a couple of lovely cards by Heather over at the Winnie & Walter Rerun Challenge for this month.  I adore the wonderful layering and the pretty doilies she used.

Supplies used include:
Stamper's Anonymous - TH Christmas Miracle
Versafine Ink in Satin Red
Clear Sparkle Embossing Powder
Winnie & Walter - Big Bang Confetti Cutaways die set (for stars)
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set
DCWV Glitter and Solid Cardstock scraps
Doily from my stash

Which one of these variations do you like better this red/gray/white one? Or the black/gold HERE. I might put one more variation up here on my blog and then put a few others over on Flickr. :)

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Black and Gold Christmas Card

Hi, Friends.....

I'm here with a festive gold and black Christmas card I made for Scrappy Mo's November Rudolph Days Challenge. I was inspired to use these colors by the dazzling black and gold card by Vanessa over at the Winnie & Walter Rerun Challenge for this month. Hers featured a chalkboard style card with that wonderful translucent half-erased look. I tried to imitate that look using vellum on my card.

I used the Viva la Verve November Sketch.

Products used include:
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set (for black background panel)
Stamper's Anonymous - TH Christmas Miracle
Gold embossing powder
DCWV Foiled Vellum Stack
Holographic Washi tape
Core'dinations - Black Cat Cardstock
Shimmery ribbon from stash

Thank you for stopping by today. I appreciate your visits and kind words so much!! Have a lovely week.

Guest Designer - Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge

Kind of my same reaction when I saw the Challenge theme for this Guest Design spot!!  lol...

Hi, Friends.....

I am delighted to be a Guest Designer for Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge this fortnight. The theme this time around is Butterfly/ies plus H is for Handwritten and/or the Color Lemon. Mrs. A would like us to HANDWRITE our sentiment this time. EEEEK!!!  (You can just choose the color option to go with your butterfly, but where's the fun in that???)

As I suggested in the caption of the above cat funny, my tail puffed out a little bit when I saw the theme. One of the main reasons I rubber stamp is so I won't HAVE to hand-write OR draw!! lol.... But this is what makes challenges so much fun, right? So be a sport and join in, won't you? My goodness....I'm sure your handwriting is much nicer than mine, so I promise you it will all be lovely.

I decided to team the Lemon color portion of this challenge with some bright turquoise to make a bright and happy combo. After trying to get away with a simple Hello to handwrite, I realized my card really wanted me to include sunshine to go with this pretty lemon color.

I practiced several times with wording and then made some faint (erasable) pencil lines to guide me as I tried to make my sentiment panel. Arrghh...rubbish, rubbish, rubbish!! Finally...I got tired of trying to stay in my own lines and just scrawled it out. That's what you see above. It's just my very real and very own uninspiring handwriting. lol.... I know YOU can do much better than this!!! :)
Supplies used include:
Dollar store butterfly
Doodlebug - Mini Doilies
Scraps of cardstock from stash
Lace seam binding from stash
Ultra-fine Sharpie for sentiment

Thank you, Mrs. A, for inviting me to Guest Design.  I hope all of you readers enjoyed my card today. Please join the rest of us over at Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge. I would love to admire your handwriting!!! :)

Purple Card and Tag Set with Butterflies

Hi, Friends.....

Are my American friends all busy getting ready for Thanksgiving? I have my menu made and all the things listed out that I need to cook or prepare each day to get it all done by Thursday. We don't have a big extended family, so we invite a couple of neighbors over and celebrate the day. I'm the only lady, so after the meal I retreat to my craft room while the men talk guy stuff. :)

Today, I am sharing a quick and simple little tag/card duo that I made sometime back while playing around with some scraps. Just realized that it fits the color portion of Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge this fortnight: Butterfly + the color Purple so I decided to enter it at the last minute. (The other and/or portion of her challenge is C is for Chevrons, but I don't have any of those in this project.)

I made this tag quite big so I can use it to decorate a larger-sized gift bag.
Supplies used include:
Fiskars - XXXL Circle Punch (3" diameter)
Core'dinations Purple Cardstock
Scraps of cardstock from my stash
Butterfly sequins
Adhesive Rhinestones
Ribbon from my stash
Hope you enjoyed my little tag and card set. I am Guest Designing for Mrs. A tomorrow for her next Butterfly Challenge, so be sure to stop in. Have a lovely day!!

Fall Colors

Hi, Friends.....

It's Thanksgiving card time of the year again! I find it helpful to choose a sketch to use for mass producing my Thanksgiving cards. In the past it has usually been one of Julee's at Viva la Verve Sketch challenge....and so it is again this year! :)

I was immediately attracted to this sketch because of all the delicious scraps I could use LAYERS in the design. I have an entire tub completely full of scraps that are in fall prints!!! Seriously....one of those 12x12 clear cases that is 3 inches deep...you know the ones I mean, right? Plus other miscellaneous bags of them!!! So when I see a fabulous layered sketch around Thanksgiving...I am sooooooooooo IN!!!
I use this So Grateful stamp nearly every year for many of my Thanksgiving cards.  Inside the card I stamp a scripture and Happy Thanksgiving.

Supplies used include:
A Creative Journey with Melissa - Fall and Winter Holiday Sentiments stamp set
Versafine ink in Onyx Black
Distress Ink in Walnut Stain
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set (scalloped edge panel)
DCWV scraps from stash
Core'dinations kraft cardstock
Lacy ribbon from stash
Thrift store bag of leaves :)

Hope you like my card. This was the first of my cards using this sketch, but I have made several batches of Thanksgiving cards with this sketch so far. Can somebody please explain how I have MORE autumn scraps now than when I started??!!! Eeek!! This defies all known laws of physics and mathematics. Scraps are scary!!

Out of Season Birdie

Hi, Friends......

Here's a card I have been wanting to make for a long, long time. So simple but fun and cute. My crafty pal, Karen Ladd, sent me some Springtime stickers a long time ago.....I think they were really for my granddaughter, but guess what! I kept a few for myself and had a card like this in mind!! :)

Then when I was scrambling around tonight finishing up all the entries in Lea Lawson's Crafty Comeback Party, I noticed she had a little mini-challenge to make an out of season card. Well, what she really said was more like put your seasonal things aside for a little while and make a card just for fun.  Voila!!! Time to finally make that springtime bird card!!

Supplies used include:
Foam bird sticker
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set (has scallops)
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set
Winnie & Walter - Sketchy Thoughts die set
Winnie & Walter - Sketchy Thoughts stamp set
Distress Ink - Picked Raspberry
Versafine Ink - Onyx Black
Darice - Birch Trees Embossing Folder
Core'dinations heavy duty white cardstock
Sequins - bonus gift in a Winnie & Walter order! <3
Hope you enjoyed this card. Lea, I am so glad you are back!!! I'm looking forward to enjoying your crafty endeavors. Thank you for this amazing blog party!!!

Noel - Winnie & Walter

This must have been when the delinquency started.  :)

Hi, Friends......

I am back with one last entry into Winnie & Walter - October Color Combo Challenge.

I am way behind on my Christmas cards and so I decided to try one with these non-traditional colors.  It's different, but I like it. I love the gleam of the foiled cardstock and the sparkle of the glittered salmon cardstock.  The button die-cuts are fun, too!

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set (has scalloped edges and the buttons)
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set (straight edged panel)
Winnie & Walter - In a Word: Noel Cutaway die
Winnie & Walter - In Bloom: Maggie's Roses Cutaways die set
DCWV glittered and patterned cardstock
Distress Ink in Wild Honey and Walnut Stain
Various Sequins (peachy ones are Neat & Tangled)
Embroidery floss

That's all for now.  Hope you are have a lovely weekend!!!  Thank you for stopping by and saying hello.
