Butterfly - Quatro Fold

Hi, Friends.....

I have a super-pretty butterfly card to share with you today. As most of you know, the wonderful Mrs. A (ValeryAnne) over at the Butterfly Challenge always has some interesting new fancy fold for us to try. This fortnight it was the Quatro Fold, where your card has four distinct folds. She kindly gives us wonderful photo tutorials and sometimes it is something even my limited skill set is able to do!! :)

The challenge theme this time was Butterfly/ies + Q is for: Quatro Fold, Queen Pink (pale pink), Quick Silver, Quinacridone (magenta), Quotes (a butterfly related sentiment), and Quartz Gems. How could I possibly pass up on the chance to use pink AND magenta????

Here's my quatro fold card all folded up:

I used a fancy Serendipity butterfly cut from some glitzy silver holographic paper. It was pretty flimsy so I glued it to the underside of a solid butterfly shape die cut from clear acetate to give it some sturdiness....and so I could lift the wings. I used Tombow Aqua Mono Liquid Glue and it worked perfectly!! To be honest, the holographic paper did not die cut perfectly and there is a place or two on the wings that is missing. I added some quartz crystal rhinestones over those to help disguise them. Shhhhh...don't tell....

Below is an angled shot. You can barely see the transparent acetate holding the silvery butterfly above the solid pink die cut that I stamped with the same fancy pattern as the holographic die. I used gray for a shadow effect. It also helps disguise the imperfect holographic diecut.

In this next shot the card is partially unfolded. You can see a bit of craft velcro that I used for holding the card closed.

Here's the inside with a stamped butterfly and sentiment from a sweet Technique Tuesday butterfly stamp set. I hope that sentiment qualifies as a quote. It came with the set. I matted the sentiment panel with some of the same patterned paper I used on the front of the card. I positioned it so that a short personal greeting could still be written below it. The side panels also could be written on, if desired.

Supplies used include:
Technique Tuesday - Take Flight stamp set
Versafine ink in Smokey Gray
M&C Boutique - Large Circle Frame die set
Impression Obsession - Serendipity Floral Butterfly stamp
Impression Obsession - Serendipity Floral Butterfly die
Impression Obsession - Serendipity Solid Butterfly die
Dollar Store holographic paper in silver
Clear acetate from stash
Tombow - Mono Aqua Liquid Glue
DCWV patterned cardstock
Quartz crystal rhinestones from stash
Tombow - Hook and Loop Tabs (retired)
Core'dinations/Darice solid pink cardstock

Thank you for stopping by today. Hope you liked this card. The fancy fold was really quite easy and I love the look of it. Thank you, Mrs A., for the great tutorial!!

🖤
Janis

  13. I'm always nervous about trying those fancy folds but this is just spectacular. What a clever idea to use clear acetate for an under-layer to give the butterfly a base. That holographic paper gives such sparkle and magic to this card.
