PLS Bunny and Bingo Christmas in July

Hi, Friends.....

LAST ONE....LAST ONE!!!!  Here is my last Christmas in July card to share with you made from odds and ends from my holiday stash box.  Did all these cards make a dent in my scraps????  Nope. Not even close!  lol....  But I sure had fun making them and it did feel good to use some things that had been sitting around for a long time.

Recently I won a very, very generous prize from Pretty Little Studio.  Included in the package was a little assortment of vintage Christmas critters...mostly adorable bunnies!  I love the PLS critters and wanted to make one of the busy collage cards that I see little vintage die cuts featured in.  I'm not very good at making these cards.....mine usually end up looking like my stash box got spilled on the floor in a puddle of glue!!!  Bwahahaha!!

But I got brave and opened up my box and pulled out a PLS holiday JOY Bingo card and a bunch of other little odds and ends that might coordinate....a snowflake (which I backed in vellum), a little die-cut button, a red doily, and some adhesive pearls along with a background of very old patterned paper.

Here's the card I came up with....what do you think?  I really like it....esp for a first attempt with these supplies.

Supplies used include:
Pretty Little Studio Vintage Holiday Die Cuts and Journaling Cards
Memory Box - Lindeman Snowflake die
Poppystamps - Button Oval die set
Doodlebug - Mini Doilies
Scraps of Patterned Paper and Vellum
Want 2 Scrap - Adhesive Pearls

This concludes my garden of Christmas in July cards.  (Now what do I do with the half-finished cards that are stiiiiiiiiiiiiillll on my craft desk!??? lol...)  Hope you enjoyed my card today!  Thank you for stopping by.  And a HUGE thank you for those of you who visited each of my Christmas in July cards from the Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers and left such nice comments.  You made me so happy!   Mwahhhh!

Now I am officially a month behind in my Cat Lovers Hop preparations, but I am ahead of my game for Christmas cards!  So if I disappear from my blog again for awhile, you will know I am getting ready for our Cat Hop #8 in October!!  Yay!!!

For those of you who are new to my blog, this is your official invitation to join us in October.  It is a frenzy-filled week of feline fun.....TONS TONS TONS of prizes!! See you then!!!

JOY - Christmas in July

Hi, Friends......

Here is my second-to-last (I think) Christmas in July card made from bits and bobs I found in my stash.  I ran across this pretty JOY die cut that was an extra from a card-making session several years ago.  This one never made it onto a card and it has been in my holiday stash box ever since.  I teamed it up with one of the strips-o'-scraps backgrounds that I double embossed in gold earlier this month.  The die cut kind of got lost in all of gold embossing and patterned paper busy-ness.  So I embossed a scrap of solid cardstock to mat it....just what it needed.

Supplies used include:
Creative Expressions - Festive Collection Joy 2 pc die set
Darice - Checkered Embossing Folder
Darice - Damask Embossing Folder
Versamark embossing ink
Gold Embossing Powder from my stash
Lots of patterned paper scraps for my background

Hope you liked this card.  Thank you so much for stopping by!

Are you staying cool this summer???  Right now it is 99 outside and 84 inside, so I am not very cool....but I have acclimated so I am not too uncomfortable as long as I don't do anything!!!  Ha.  Thank goodness for naps and cold drinks to help me make it through the hottest part of these days.  Next week is supposed to be in the low 80s.  That sounds heavenly!  (I'll probably complain that I am cold!!! Bwahahaha!!)

Take care and stay safe in the heat.  I will be back soon with my last Christmas in July card.  See you then!!

Vellum Overlay Merry Christmas in July

Hi, Friends......

Back again with a Christmas in July card using a number of long-neglected things from my holiday stash box!  I have made so many Christmas cards this month.  It is very gratifying.  Many of them were duplicates or similar styles so I am not posting all of them, of course, but at last count I had made 21 cards for Christmas in July!  Yay!!

Wanna see my latest THANG?????  It's using vellum.  lol...  Vellum might be the most underused staple item in my stash.  I've been noticing it more and more in layered cards and I love it.  I got to thinking....layered is very much my style, why am I not using vellum more????  So here goes with my first attempt.

I had this bright background paper that seemed a little much, so I die cut and embossed some vellum to lay over it and I really like the snowy effect.  It helps to give more definition to the oval focal point.  I used a felt tree from my stash and inlaid some red adhesive gems,  I topped it with a happy little Santa hat at a jaunty angle.  Michele Henderson sent me the little hats and they are sooooooo cute!!  (THANKS, Michele!)

Supplies used include:
Serendipity - Merry Christmas
Versafine Ink in Satin Red
Hero Hues Felt Stickers
Adhesive Gems from stash
Winnie & Walter - Essentials:  Audrey Cutaways die set
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set
My Favorite Things Die-namics - Stitched Oval STAX die set
Darice - Snowflakes embossing folder
Vellum and Scraps of patterned and solid paper and cardstock from stash
Baker's Twine
EK Success - Santa Hat
Hope you liked the new look for my layered cards !  I will be reaching for my vellum often in the future, I think.  Thank you for stopping by today. Stay cool, everyone!!

Ho Ho Ho Elf Kitty - Christmas in July

Hi, Friends......

I'm back with another Christmas in July card for you.....made from more items in my holiday stash box.  My crafty pal, Karen Ladd,  sent me this fun elf kitty tag last Christmas (THANKS, Karen!!) and I couldn't resist putting him on a card.  I didn't want anything too fussy for a background that would distract the eye from him, so I just used a Sparkle embossing folder and made a cute speech balloon for him.  I had this very ancient Ho Ho Ho confetti that I glued on for the sentiment.  I know this is a super-simple card, but I think it turned out cute and I hope you like it, too!

Supplies used include:
Elf Kitty tag
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set
- (retired)
Sizzix - TH Texture Fades - Sparkles
Winnie & Walter - Sketchy Thoughts die set - (retired)
Confetti from stash

I have really gone crazy making Christmas in July cards this year.  Once I got going on those leftover odds and ends, I couldn't stop!!!  Right now it is too hot in my house and waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too hot outside to do much of anything else...so I might as well do this, right?!  Thank you for stopping by today.  Stay cool and keep crafting!!

Deep Rose and Black Merry Christmas in July

Hi, Friends.....

Yes, I am back with yet another Christmas in July card made from things in my holiday stash box.  I ran across several of these dry embossed and sanded panels.  This particular piece is called Black Magic.....black on the outside and colored on the inside, so when you sand it the color magically appears.  The reason these panels had stayed in my box for so long is because they are too long for my regular A2 card size so they had been shoved aside for a long, long time.  My Christmas in July resolution of using neglected stash items meant that it was time to use these!

I found that it fit just fine on a 5"x7" card base....but there was quite a bit of room to spare.  So I went to my long neglected adhesive gem swirls and cut one of them up to arrange behind the panel.  The card was still pretty sparse, so I put a couple of adhesive gems in the corners.

One question.....is this still CAS????

As I mentioned in my post right below this one, people often comment on my usual clean and layered cards as being CAS even when I don't think they are.  This one seems "CAS-er" than my usual, so I am going to enter it in the Let's Squash It! CAS Challenge and the supreme tyrant dictator twins who run that challenge can delete it if they see fit.  Muwahahahaha!!!  (Love you two gals so much!!)

Supplies used include:
Darice - Seasonal Border 3-pack
Zva Black Gem Swirls
Core'dinations Black Magic Cardstock
Patterned Paper from my Stash

Hope you enjoyed seeing this simple card.  The colors are a little out of the ordinary for Christmas, but I like the deep rose and black together.  Thank you for stopping by today.  Merry Christmas in July!!

CAS Christmas in July

Hi, Friends......

I am here with yet another Christmas in July card I made with things found in my stash.  Are you like I am and save your negative die-cuts?????  Well, this shimmery blue one had been in my holiday stash box for who knows how long.....and you can't expect me to throw away something like this, can you??  I happened to uncover a pretty embossed white piece, too, and thought they would look nice together.  I LOVE the clean crisp look!

There are only a few more days left in the Let's Squash It! CAS Challenge, but I wanted to get this card finished and entered.  I have to admit that I really don't "get" CAS.  My usual style is Clean and Layered and a number of people who comment mention my CAS cards, even though I don't think they are CAS.  It is totally mystifying to me.  Anyway, I hope this one really is CAS!  lol...

Supplies used include:
Negative die-cut from Memory Box - Snowflake Love Pendant
Inkylicious - Seasons Greetings x4 stamp set
Versafine Ink in Majestic Blue
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set
Darice - Dot Background 5"x7" Embossing Folder

Hope you enjoyed this card.  It is nice departure from the cards I have been making that are heavy on the patterned paper. Thank you for stopping by today. Merry Christmas in July to everyone!

Christmas Mouse in July - Rudolph Days

Hi, Friends......

I am back with another Christmas in July card made from items in my holiday stash that have been neglected.  I am entering this in Maureen's July Rudolph Days Challenge that is open through the end of the month.  Hope you will join us over there!!

This sweet little mouse image, given to me by a friend, is one that I hadn't inked up before.  Cute, isn't it?  I had the scraps of papers matched up and bagged together in my box so I colored the little critter and his present to match.  It's a bit of a non-traditional twist on the standard red and green, but not too far off.

Supplies used include:
M&C Boutique - Large Circle Frame die set (retired)
Whimsy Stamps Bonus Gift with Purchase (discontinued)
Studio G Stamps - Mini Christmas Clear Stamps
Versafine ink in Crimson Red
Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers
Scraps of Patterned Paper from my stash

Hope you enjoyed this fun card.  I think it will work well for giving to one of the younger set.

Stay cool and craft on..........only a few more days left of Christmas in July!!

Butterfly Spanner Panel Card in Sage and Sand

Hi, Friends......

Oh, goodness...do I have a summery card for you today!  I took a little break from Christmas in July to indulge in the new Butterfly Challenge Mrs. A put up a few days ago.  I hardly ever (like never) attempt her fancy card styles, but this one looked like even someone with eleven thumbs might be able to accomplish.  Just my speed!

She is featuring the Spanner Panel Card style this time and gives wonderful directions on how to make it....and several samples, too!  It is "S is for....." theme this time.  From her four color options, I chose Sage and Sand + Stripes (theme) + Butterfly + Spanner Panel Style.

I used a softly-hued butterfly panel made of adhesive-backed fabric that my crafty friend, Karen Ladd, sent me a long time ago.  I have made other cards with it before, but it's been awhile!  She also sent me the felt center I used for my flower.  The lace, I believe, might be some that came in one of Mrs. A's lovely prizes.  So pretty!  (THANK YOU, Ladies!!)

This card opens in two sections.  Here's the front with everything closed.

Here it is with the front spanner panel opened up....revealing more of the butterfly panel.

And here it is with the center panel lifted, fully opened.

Supplies used include:
Patterned and Solid paper scraps from stash
Stampin' Up - Bring on the Cake - part 1 only (retired)
Versafine ink in Spanish Moss

My Favorite Things Die-namics - Stitched Oval STAX die set (retired)
Prima Flowers
Memory Box - Resting Birds die set
Verve - Sprightly Sprigs die set (retired)
Nuvo Drops for dots and gold streaks on flower.
Butterfly stickers from stash
Isn't that fun?????  And only two extra cuts on the card base.  This card measures 5-1/2"x6-1/2" so it will fit in a large standard envelope and go for regular postage.  Yay!

Hope you enjoyed seeing this sweet card.  You still have lots of time to join us over at the Butterfly Challenge, so I hope to see you there!!

Fascinating People - Graphic 45 Cityscapes

Hi, Friends......

I recently got out one of my Graphic 45 collections I had long admired but couldn't bear to cut into.....you KNOW what I mean!  Right?  lol.....   It's the Cityscapes collection which is full of wonderful buildings and structures from around the world.  Just the kind of thing that living in the country I never see.  It's so different from where I live that it fascinates me!  Though I am a homebody, this collection sends me into flights of fancy of a summer vacation of world travel.

The images are perfect for masculine cards and I like keeping some of them on hand.  They require only minimal embellishment....guys, you know!  For this card all I used for dressing it up was a few shiny photo corners.  Very simple, but I like it.  I can personalize the inside for the occasion.

Supplies used include:
Graphic 45 Cityscapes collection
Scrap of patterned paper from my stash
Scrapbook-Adhesives - Photo Corners in Gold

Thank you for stopping by today.  Hope you liked this travel-themed card.  Maybe it inspires you to get using that Graphic 45 you have hidden away in your stash!  You deserve to use your pretty stuff!! Have a lovely day.

Big Gold Snowflake - Christmas in July

Hi, Friends.....

I'm back with another Christmas in July card using things from my Christmas stash.  This time I pulled out an old package of dollar store gold colored snowflake ornaments.  These are huge and shiny and gaudy.....and I LOVE them!!!  lol....  As big as they are, they are not overly dimensional and so they actually mail quite well.  I made several of these cards

As you can see, I used one of my "Strips-o'-Scraps" backgrounds which I dry embossed and then rubbed on some Walnut Stain Distress Ink with a sponge dauber to make the pattern show up better.

I also pulled out from my box a package of Noel rub-ons for the sentiments.  I have only used rub-ons maybe one or two times ever, so I didn't really know what I was doing.  This package was several years old, so I wasn't sure if they would work....but most of them did.  Yay!!  The ones that didn't transfer completely, I was able to fill in with a fine black marker.....which worked beautifully!  Yay!!

Supplies used include:
Scraps from stash for my background
Dollar Store gold ornament
Rub-on sentiment from stash
Hope you liked my card.  Thank you so much for stopping by today!!

Let it Snow-Folks Christmas in July

Hi, Friends.....

Are you getting into the Christmas in July spirit???  I sure am!  I've been using odds and ends from my Christmas stash boxes this month.  Seems many of my cards are using non-traditional colors and this one is no exception.

I uncovered a baggie with this fun ice skate paper from years and years ago, along with the brown doily and the brown card base.  I just needed an image and sentiment.  The pair of Snowfolks from Unity was perfect and also the Let it Snow Unity sentiment.  Yay...so cute!  I love the simplicity of this image, and kept the card completely unadorned.  I think it will be perfect for kids....young or old!

Supplies used include:
Unity - Two snowmen image...can't find a link
Unity - "Let it Snow" from One of a Kind Winter
Versafine ink in Onyx Black
Spectrum Noir alcohol markers
Doodlebug - Mini Doilies
M&C Boutique - Large Circle Frame die set
Glittery Gel Pen

Hope you enjoyed this sweet and simple card!  The theme over at Christmas Kickstart this month is Snowfolks, so get out your snowmen stamps and I'll see you over there!

Thank you for stopping by today.  Merry Christmas in July!
