Hi, Friends......

I am back with a quick card I made for this week's MFP Sketch With a Twist.  The twist they asked us to use is buttons.  Fun!  I don't use my stash of buttons nearly often enough.  How about you?

Here's the sketch they provided:

I also continued my personal challenge of using the incredibly pretty and fresh monthly color palette from Inspired by Stamping:

My other card using this palette had lots of the aqua and peach, so this time I used lots of white.  I love the clean look!!

I was inspired to make this button balloon card by an adorable card by Kylie Adams that I found on the Cutting Edge Blog Hop.  So cute!!  I immediately knew what I wanted to do with buttons this week!!

I stamped and embossed my little birdie in white and painted with my Gelatos and waterbrush.  I think the little heart buttons were a dollar store find.  Sweet!  The papers are DCWV, including that fabulous burlap-looking one that I just bought.  It's called the Woven Stack and do I love it or what!??!!  Exactly what I needed for some subtle texture on this card!

Here's a close up so you can see my sweet little birdie and the texture.  I love how the birdie's wing is floral patterned.  I tried to echo that with peach butterfly print.
I drew in some balloon strings with a silver gel pen.  I am terrified to do anything free-hand, so please be kind in your comments.  Ha.  :)

I think that about covers my card.  Hope you like it!  Have a lovely week!

    1. Thank you, Vickie!! I am just crazy over those colors from IBS. I like how the heart buttons worked for the balloons. They remind me of the animal balloons I would always beg my mom to buy me at the State Fair in Oregon when I was a kid! :)

  4. Wow Janis!! This card is amazing in every way! Love that pastel color combo and the combination of the sweet paper pieced bird, the embossed balloon strings and those buttons make for a fabulous card design. Love how the white space showcases that cute main image!

    1. Thanks so much, Karen. You are so encouraging!!! The birdie isn't actually pieced. It is just stamped and heat embossed and then watercolored with Gelatos, Metallic Melon and Tangerine blended together. IRL you can see the shimmer from the Metallic Melon, but it didn't photograph well so I didn't even mention it in my post. Thanks for mentioning the white space. I really like how all that white around the image looked, too!

    2. Oh yes, now that I took a second look I can see the heat embossing! The white embossing made it look like shiny patterned paper that you paper pieced. Either way, this is so pretty!

  9. Love the button balloon idea. So cute. I agree - I'm always so nervous about any free-hand on my own cards and always admire others for it. It looks great with the silver here. Thanks so much for sharing with us on MFP's Sketch with a Twist.
