Hi, Friends.....
I am back with Post #2 for my big 11-Post Blog Blitz where I made 11 cards using the Viva La Verve Sketch 2. I have a giveaway going on during this Blog Blitz so take a look at THIS POST for details. One thing that really attracted me to this particular sketch was the potential for using lots of scraps. I keep my main bags of scraps that I am currently using in one drawer of my massive craft desk. That way they are super-handy. No excuses not to use them!
Well, since I already had pink scraps out from Card #1, I figured I would go ahead and make a pink card and do masculine cards after this. Ha. As you know, eleven cards later and I still don't have any guy cards!
Verve - Scripture Medley 2 stamp set again and stamped with Distress Ink in Picked Raspberry.
I realize it is probably some terrible crafting faux pas to stamp a sentiment with Distress Ink because they aren't as clear and crisp as other inks, but I often do it when I want a particular color other than my Versafine hues. My real dye inks are in a plastic case that is not nearly as easy to get at as my DIs are.....so guess what gets used?
Besides, now I have my nifty DI color chart so I can match the colors! I have four more butterflies on my chart since I made this at the beginning of January for THIS POST. Now just four more to go....waiting for JoAnn.com to have mini-set #15 on a half-price sale. :)

I love all of the shades of pink you used. You don't usually create mono chromatic cards. The picture of the cat with all of her babies iso cute.

ReplyDeleteMonochromatic cards are different for you. I am trying something new for me, and that is using stencils with embossing paste. Love the texture it adds!

ReplyDeleteOh, I can barely tear my eyes away from those adorable gray kittens (who look just like like pussy willows) but this bright pink card is just so darn happy! The distress inked sentiment is plenty clear and readable, and the slight softness gives it kind of a vintage appeal. This monochromatic design is not your usual style, but works perfectly. My recent departure from my usual style is my use of vellum. I'm so happy to have an excuse to use up some of that old, old vellum stash again!

I like that you decided to go monochromatic for a change! I recently did some uber bright watercolor cards that aren't my usual style, but they're growing on me. Hope to post them soon.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this bright and cheerful pink! You mentioned you don't usually do monochromatic cards, so this is different for you! I have recently tried altering colors on digital stamp images, making it sepia toned and it turned out great! Old dogs (and cats) CAN learn new tricks!

ReplyDeleteThe answer is using a monochromatic color scheme on your card by using all pink. I just started using vinyl which I never tried before.

LOVE pink cards and again such pretty pink papers...it is monochromatic that you don't do much and the same for me, I seem to struggle with that (as well as making male cards)!!

ReplyDeleteIts very pretty Janis. Its different because its monochomatic (which I happen to love!) I have been trying to use more printed paper for my backgrounds. I tend to keep my prints at a minimum and I don't know why as I LOVE printed paper. Probably because I hoard what I love??? LOL

Your card is different because it is monochromatic. Very pretty. I recently made a card using markers to color in an image which is something that I rarely do!
