Hi, Friends.....

Winnie & Walter is having their gigantic 4th Birthday Bash with tons of challenges and prizes!! SO MUCH FUN!!!

One of their challenges in particular has super-inspired me....the W&W- Use Your Scraps Challenge with Kelly. She asks us to use ONLY scraps and bits and bobs leftover from previous projects for making our entries.

If you are like me.....you are totally inundated with scraps! I took a bit of time to match up coordinating scraps, half-finished projects, and stray die cuts, etc and put them into individual ziplock bags with one card idea per bag. Then I put those into a plastic tub that I am working out of. I am determined to get some of these projects finished during this challenge!! THANK YOU, Kelly, for the inspiration!!!

Today I am sharing a card I made from a leftover of a digital freebie from the Winnie & Walter store: Daily Grind Collection Vol. 1 - Holiday Mint. I have used several of these wonderful holiday images over the past few years, but still had some left in my stash that I had printed out 2 or 3 years ago. :)

For this card, I pulled out the digital glitter deer image to play with. You can't tell in this photo, but I coated the deer with clear Wink of Stella to give the printed glittered texture some real shimmer. I matted it with a scrap of ancient DCWV paper and did some fun faux stitching with my Sakura white gel pen. The W&W sentiment was floating around in my stash already and so was the wood-grain background piece. I added a wood-grain chipboard snowflake from a partial package. The result is simple and home spun. I couldn't be more thrilled to have used these stray items!!

Supplies used: ALL SCRAPS and STRAY LEFTOVER BITS!!!
W&W Freebie - Daily Grind Collection Vol. 1 - Holiday Mint
Winnie & Walter - Sketchy Thoughts stamp set
Sakura - White Gel Pen
Zig - Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen
Southern Ridge Trading Co. - Chipboard Snowflakes 714
DCWV scraps
Hope you liked my "all scraps and bits" card. I hadn't tried faux stitching for a long time, but I think it is just right for the homey look of this card. What do you think?

Thank you for stopping by today. I will be sharing more of my scraps only cards, so hope to see you soon!!

  3. Okay, I've finally stopped laughing at the Things Your Cat Wants for Christmas long enough to comment. What a creative and fun card you put together...and I am most impressed by the fact you used that chipboard snowflake! I have boxes of chipboard shapes that I never think to use (along with all that other stuff I also don't use..eek!). I'm also off to check out the W&W free digi to see if it can be printed out in black and white and still look good. That textured deer coordinates so wonderfully with your wood-grained snowflake.

  4. Janis! What a great idea to go through your pile ahead of time, collect elements that could go together, and package them up in ziploc baggies! Seems like it would be so easy to grab a bag when you have some crafting time and get right to work. Love this first card you put together with your scraps! A very homespun feel indeed. So glad you were able to join in my Use Your Scraps challenge for Winnie & Walter!
