Flamingo Anniversary - Lots-o'-Dots Scrap Background

Hi, Friends........

I am here with an anniversary card to share today. This was a special request and I knew which background I wanted to try out. I often make my "Strips-o'-Scraps" backgrounds with strips of a variety of patterned papers glued onto solid cardstock. But today I am introducing my "Lots-o'-Dots" scrap background. :)

I have sooooooooooooo many scraps of pretty papers and I got this idea of punching them with my 1" hole punch for a fun background. You can use a circle (or other shape) die for this, too, but nothing knocks out a pile of scraps faster than punch-punch-punch. This proved to be a great way to burn through a whole bunch of odd-shaped pieces in my scrap bags. It was totally addicting to watch my wastebasket fill up with the narrow frameworks of the leftovers!!  (Did it make a dent in my scrap bags???? No....but it was loads of fun!!! Ha.)

I used a fun flamingo image and really love how the circles in the background echo the curvy necks and round bodies of the birds. I colored the flamingos to coordinate with the pink background.....which took some creative blending of two different Spectrum Noir markers since they don't have this color of pink. I think I matched it pretty well. I added some white accents with a gel pen.

Supplies used include:
Gina K. Designs - Cuddles & Hugs stamp set (retired)
Thrift store sentiment stamp of unkn origin
Tsukineko - Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black
Spectrum Noir Markers
Winnie & Walter - Big Hugs with Evelin T Designs die set - retired
Lawn Fawn - Large Stitched Rectangles die set
Scraps for my background, mat, and focal panel
Sakura - White Gel Pen (medium point)

Hope you liked this fun card!! Thank you so much for stopping by today.

We have reverted back to our chilly rainy weather and I might need to build a fire in the woodstove tonight. Brrrr! It's supposed to warm up and be nice again for July 4th, though. Yay!

  12. Oh you clever sausage! Throw a spiced oven ready chicken in the oven - that'll warm the place up. Great idea!
