OWL Always Love You - Masculine OLC

GREAT GRAY OWLS

Hi, Friends....

Just getting around to posting the card I gave my hubby for Father's Day. I used a sweet owl couple image from Unity because we share a particular fondness for owls...esp Great Grays. The stamp is a red rubber miscut I got in a Unity grab bag. The original stamp has 3 owls on it, but I like having the two together....so I didn't mind receiving a mistake!

I didn't color the owls on my card like Great Grays, but they are our favorites. These fabulous owls are common in our area, but can be rare finds for many birders. I am on an Inland NW Bird email list and each year I alert the group when our owls arrive in the spring and detail where I have seen them. People travel to our area from several states away just to see our Great Grays. They are by length (but not by weight) the largest owls in the world and are amazingly tame. They will sit on a fence post in the early morning or evening hours when the sun is low and seem not the least bit concerned if you stop your car near them and roll down the window to observe them....or quietly get out of the car and watch them from a moderate distance away.  They are soooooooo humongous and gorgeous!!  We are blessed to have them here.

I am entering this card in the As You Like It - Digi or Rubber and Why Challenge where they ask us which form of stamp we prefer. Well, for me, it is a definite vote for rubber. I am not adept at using digis at all and my printer and I are often not on speaking terms! I love the versatility that rubber stamps give me for using different media and different inks. I also really like the organic connection I feel with the art by the simple acts of inking up and stamping.

I stayed mainly with blacks, browns, and grays for a masculine look. I masked off the edges, stenciled, blended distress inks on a kraft card base for a one layer card. I colored the owls with my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.

Supplies used include:
Unity - 3-"Who"-lagins (mfr miscut...only contains two owls)
Cardz-TV - For the Birds stamp set
Tsukineko - Memento Ink
Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers
UmWowStudio - Checker Board stencil
Distress Inks in Black Soot and Walnut Stain

Hope you liked my owl card. Hubby loved it, of course. 💟🦉🦉🦉
Thank you for stopping by today!!
