The Daily Game is generously sponsored each day by Ike's Art!!!  Ike is another returning sponsor who has been kindly offering her digital art for the Cat Lovers Hops for 6 years in a row.  Many thanks, Ike!! πŸ–€

 .......................................

Very Special Note to all Cat Hoppers:
Many of you already know that our dear friend Ike is currently battling cancer and has been undergoing surgery and chemo.  More surgery is in the near future and so she might not be able to join with us during this year's Hop.  Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers as she fights through this difficult challenge.
We love you, Ike, and are praying for healing and strength!!  πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—
.......................................

PRIZE: Not only is Ike's Art sponsoring our Daily Games, but Ike is also offering an additional grand prize of a $20 Gift Code to her online store!!   (WOW!!  Some lucky digi lover is going to go crazy with that prize!!!)

BONUS:  Ike's Show us Your Pussies - Cats Only Challenge theme this month is Furrything Goes Let's flood her challenge with our cat entries and show her how much we care about her!!
Please take time to visit Ike at these social media spots: Blog, Store, and Facebook Group. Don't forget to Like, Follow, Share, and Comment with a big "THANK YOU for sponsoring the 2020 Cat Lovers Hop at Her Peaceful Garden!"

Even with Ike's medical challenges, she has pre-arranged with me to sponsor our Daily Games by graciously delving into her vault to offer one of her wonderful sets of kitty digital images for prizes.

Take a look at her fur-bulous Fleaz Navidad digital set...which she originally designed for the 2016 Cat Lovers Hop.  It's a good one!!  Each day of the Hop, I will feature one of the images from this set as the prize for that day's Daily Game.

In the interest of keeping things manageable for myself in this year's Hop, I decided to follow Ike's lead and I am using cards I made back in 2016 as samples again, too.

So, for today......the featured digital image from Ike's Fleaz Navidad digital set is "Carol Cats".  CUTE!!!!

Here's the card I made from this wonderful digi:

Yes, that kitty DOES have teeth, but I realize now that I should have accented them with a white gel pen!!  oops...

NOTE:  PLEASE PLAY THE DAILY GAMES EVEN IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE IN THE DRAWINGS FOR THE DIGI PRIZES.

Not all of you use digis and have indicated that to me when you SIGNED IN.  I hope you will still participate in the Daily Games.  You do NOT have to participate in the digi giveaway to answer the Daily Game question that lets us all get to know each other better.  If you DO want to be in the digi prize drawing, be sure to link up your name each day that you participate!

REMEMBER.....you must link up your name in the linky tool at the bottom of each post to be in the drawing for the digi prizes.

DAY 3 GAME: Kitty Limericks, Haiku, Couplets, or Short Free-Form Poems

Cat Poetry was such a popular Daily Game last year (check out this link HERE if you want to see what everyone wrote!!)  that I decided to reprise it.

It might seem a little scary at first, but please don't be intimidated! Anyone can make up something about cats. Haiku are easy and follow a 3 line, 5-7-5 syllable form. Here's a great site to inspire you: Cat Haiku.

I'll go first.  I did a couple of haiku.......

My first one is inspired by how Perdita diligently watches over the new grandbaby from the back of the couch.
The Baby is here.
I will crouch near and guard him.
Baby will be safe.
My next one is an ode to my Scamper...that I just lost.  She was the Queen of the Back Porch and would chase others (including raccoons) away from "her" food.
The Queen is dethroned.
Cats can eat peacefully now.
Coons can relax, too.
Okay....I KNOW you can do better than I did!!!  So be a sport and give it a go.  Even just a line or two is fine.  :)
This is how to play the game to be eligible for the prize drawing:
1.  Make sure you have SIGNED IN HERE to be eligible for prizes.
2. Write some cat poetry to share with us.
3. After you finish your comment: if you want to be in the drawing for the prize, fill out your (own) name in the link up below. This doesn't have any thumbnails so no photo needed! You don't even need a blog!!!  This is for everyone!!!
NOTE: The Daily Game link ups will be open the entire duration of the Hop, including the extra day for comments. Entries need to be in by 11:55 pm Pacific, Sunday Nov. 1, 2020 to be eligible for the daily prize. So you have more than just today to comment and link up. I realize that not everyone has access to a printer or likes to use digis, so I am still keeping the link up gadget to make sure the digi prizes go to winners who can use them. But I am hoping EVERYONE will participate whether they are putting their name in for the prize or not.

Okay, now it is your turn!!

REMEMBER: Link your cat-themed projects over on the Main Hop Page. (Please use #2020CatLoversHop and PUBLIC settings on social media!!) This link-up below is just to enter the drawing for the Daily Game after you have commented. Thanks!!!

Thanks for all the great participation in these Daily Games.  Are you liking them???  I have a lot of fun thinking up cat things for us to talk about and cat games to play.  I hope you enjoy this feature!

  1. Oooh I love to write little poems! ANd I remember last year's! So fun Janis! Love your card, so gorgeous - that mixed media background is fabulous and look a little tuxie is one of your pair of cats!

My poem, I thought this time I'd write about my dear old Blackie (18yrs) who is now not with us.... being an ex-feral, he hated going outside, but every now and then he got curious and something would always happen just as he got brave enough to dash his hopes.

'Oh black cat creeps out the door,
Check the path back is clear what’s more
Tiptoeing light on black padded paw
Bang, a noise! He’s shot back through the door!'

Definitely will get around the sponsors (just hoping they have more than social media cos I'm not on it - I know, grimace!)

  2. Black cat's intense gaze,
    Watching all in his kingdom.
    Pounce! The game is on!

In honor of the games my cat and dog play together. :)

  3. Another one inspired by the cat beside me right now...

    Pet me now, human!

  5. I love the speech bubble with the musical notes in it. Wonderful. Here's my attempt:
    I am the couch king
I sit where you want to sit
    I am the couch king

This is about my Goose. I always have to squeeze into my spot near the lamp. He's the couch king. Thanks for a great hop!

  6. I sleep on the couch.
I can hear noise in the bathroom.
I have to get up and chase the cat.

It's about my difficult situation with cats after losing the oldest kitten.

  7. "Nobody" unravelled the knitting,
    "Nobody" messed up the place,
"Nobody" plucked all the cushions -
But the cat has a smile on his face!

  8. Love your card, Janis!
Hmmm, let's see what I can manage in the poem arena.

    Where have you gone
    O kitty of mine?
    Out onto the porch
    For a bit of sunshine.

    Are you coming back in
    Or would you rather climb
    Through the bushes and shrubs
    Before dinner time?

    You'd better come back --
    I'm closing the door.
    You'll have to stay out,
    Meowing ever more!

  9. I envy those who can write.
    I read a lot and can't
    understand how someone can
write 300 pages of a story
    that is cohesive and interesting.
So, the moral of the story is that
    I can't do poetry either.
Enjoy reading all the entries here.
    thanks. txmlhl(at)yahoo(dot)com

  10. WOW, another another amazing fun kitty day. Thank You and all the sponsors for your hard work. I dont use any other social media so Ive thanked folk on their Cat Hop Blog Pages.
Im not very good at poetry but heres a wee one I made about Harry. I have written it in Doric which is North East Scots.
I will pop a translation on it too. Although that doesn't sound quite as nice.

    Harry...
    Harry is a bonny loon,
fa likes ta hae a bosie,
that is until wee Belle appears,
and bops him on the nosie.

    English Version
    Harry is a beautiful cat,
    he likes to get cuddles,
that is until little Belle appears,
and bops him on the nose.

My dog is very jealous of anyone getting loves except her!!! She swiftly bops anyone else getting them, human or animal out of the way so she can get them instead xx

    1. Hi, Christina! Thank you for your question.
The link-up on each of the Daily Posts (this particular post you are reading right now is Day 3) is *ONLY* if you want to be in the draw for the digis offered as prizes for participating in that day's Daily Game (which is Kitty Poetry for Day 3....and which your fun little verse qualifies for.) Everyone is encouraged to comment in the Daily Games whether or not they are playing for the digis.
All *Cat Projects* should be linked over at the MAIN HOP PAGE: https://herpeacefulgarden.blogspot.com/2020/10/main-hop-page-2020-cat-lovers-hop.html
I hope that makes sense. Please let me know if you have other questions! I'm glad you are joining us again for this year's Hop!! Do you still have the same 5 kitties you had in 2017?

  18. A haiku (attempt) for Sampson:
    Ten minutes since lunch:
Huff, exhale, tail flick, nudge, purr.
    Is it time for more?

If he's not eating, he's thinking of food! And in the last few months he's started sitting close to me and huffing or flicking me with his tail etc to show his displeasure at the fact that he's not had food in the last 30 seconds.

  20. Argh, I can barely manage to find my car keys this week, much less write haiku. However, I just had to tell you how much I laughed at that cat poster above...oh my goodness!! Our cat, Bubby, used to stand up just like that in the backyard, as he scouted the area for critters to catch. We called him our resident meerkat, but now I wonder if he was mocking us??!

    Open the door,
    Close the door.
    My dish is half full,

    So I am your Ruler,
    and you are MY pet.

  23. Here I am at the last minute with my poem. Well, I didn't actually write it. Brian wrote it:

Kitty cat, kitty cat, what did you say?
They can communicate in their own way.
Some are meowers; some of them whine.
Some of them cuddle and purr all the time.
Some of them sit and don't say a word,
But to their keen owners, their message is heard.
Some of them beg, some of them stare.
Some of them scratch, some of them dare,
But it doesn't matter how they do their part -
We know now to love them and cradle their heart.

  24. I am poor in English but I just try .. using this Halloween phrase but change some wordings.

  28. Sharing a poem that I wrote back in 2009 when we lost our dear pet Patience.

    Patience

When Patience first saw Dr. Clark,
His little eyes lit up with a spark.
He looked at us, as if to say, “Is this my vet?”
We both looked at him, and said, “Yes, you bet.”
At the time he was only three weeks old,
His whole life was about to unfold.
From that day on, Patience knew that she and her staff would treat him with care
And if he got sick, they’d always be there.
He went back to see them, each and every year
And as he was examined, you could clearly hear his loud purring in your ear.
Well, a few times he went, he wasn’t doing so well,
And so he had to stay there for a spell.
But, once he felt better, he knew it was ok.
He’d live to come home and play for another day.
Over the years, little Patience grew to be 17.5 years old.
He got very sick, and from the X-rays we were told,
“He lived a long life and among other things, he’s got a bad heart”
We knew it would be soon that we’d have to part.
The day had come when we looked into Patience eyes
And knew it was time to break his earthly ties.
We made the decision to let him go with dignity and to rest.
He was a loving pet and we had all done our best.
We were sad to lose him, but knew he would suffer no more.
His brother Perky was waiting at heaven’s door.
Together again, they could romp and play,
As they wait for all to be together again someday.
