Hi, Friends.....

I am back with a masculine card to share. I got super-inspired by the wonderful Winnie & Walter September Color Combo Challenge:

I also am linking this up to Darnell's NBUS #12 Challenge where she asks us to use some Never Before Used Schtuff that we have in our stash.

I pulled out my long-hoarded NBUS Tim Holtz Idea-ology Ephemera Pack - Expedition and started putting together a collage card. Fun!

Hey, you guys...I even used a STENCIL!!! Yay!!

I like the funky look of mixing modern sentiment fonts with the vintage ephemera.  These proper gentlemen with the speech balloon containing an informal light-hearted font makes me chuckle and apparently cracks them up, too!  More on that in a moment.  :)

I had (what I thought was) a great idea.....(Oh, no! Janis is getting experimental again!!!)...I can make the photos of the men stand out and look time-worn by coating the piece with Crackle Accents. Well, in retrospect, I prob should have just used Glossy Accents or nothing at all. I love the crackly appearance, but it is unpredictable and this piece was pretty thin so it didn't work all that great. It is okay and I obviously still used it, but I am not just loving it. If you want to see a project I made where the Crackly Accents turned out perfect, click HERE (if you dare...)!

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - Scenery: Multi-Faceted Creative Screenings
Distress Ink - Walnut Stain
Winnie & Walter - Sketchy Thoughts stamp set
Winnie & Walter - Sketchy Thoughts die set
Versafine Ink - Onyx Black
Tim Holtz Idea-ology Ephemera Pack - Expedition
Inkssentials - Crackle Accents (was Ranger brand)
Twine from my stash

Hope you enjoyed my collaged ephemera card. Thank you always for your visits and comments. You make my day!!!

Hi, Friends....

I'm here with a sweet card I made as a last-minute entry for the Winnie & Walter Rerun #23 Challenge - Tree for all Seasons. I don't have the rerun set, so I drew inspiration from a couple of the fabulous cards featured on that post: the colors from Heather's gorgeous card and the springy feel to one of Kelly's cards. Aren't they beautiful!!!

I also am linking this up to Darnell's NBUS #12 Challenge where she asks us to use some Never Before Used Schtuff that we have in our stash. I ordered these wee pastel buttons a few months ago not having any idea how verrrrrrrrrrry tiny they are (perhaps "micro-mini" in the product description should have given me a clue!!! lol....)....so there they sat NBUS-ing in my stash. Turns out that they are the perfect size for "blossoms" in my tree today!

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set
Winnie & Walter - Kindness with Evelin T Designs stamp set
Versafine Ink - Smokey Gray
Ranger - TH Distress Markers
Dress It Up Micro-Mini Button Mix - Innocence
Ranger - Multi Medium Matte
Sheet from my stack of "Leftover Easter Egg Dye Backgrounds" on mixed media paper
Hope you enjoyed a little break from autumn colors to take a peek at what our friends in the Southern Hemisphere are getting to see right now! Thank you so much for stopping by!!!

Hi, Friends......

First some kitty news......

The little "Hissy Fit Committee" meme above certainly does not apply to the confident and intrepid little waif we rescued last night. We were driving home in the pitch darkness and rain (Yay...we finally broke our 100-year record for number of consecutive dry days!!) on a steep mountain road far from any houses when this little creature darted across the road! At first I thought it was a weasel, already in winter whites, but as we got closer we realized it was a kitten. Oh, my....we had to stop, of course. The poor thing was wet, cold, hungry and dehydrated. He broke into the hugest purr as soon as my son picked it up. Awwww... We brought him home and treated him for fleas (little guy was covered with them!) and fed him. I don't think he has stopped purring since!
Right now we just call him "Little Kitten"
The kitty obviously has been around people but I can't imagine someone abandoning a kitten this beautiful and good-natured!! It is equally perplexing how he could have wandered off from someone's house to be found where we picked him up. Overnight, the fleas all died and he cleaned up his long silky coat and is quite the handsomest little cat. We estimate he is 10-12 weeks old and is one of the absolute nicest kittens we've had for a very, very long time. He is litterbox trained and doesn't tease the big kitties.
Since he has white ears (and white everything else except for a couple little gray dots between his ears!) we can't keep him. We have so many intensely sunny days at our elevation and not a lot of shade on our property that white ears get badly sunburned. Even though we apply sunscreen, the kitties can develop skin cancer. I never want to go through that with one of my kitties again!! :( :( :( So I draw the line....NO WHITE EARS!! My vet hubby who works out of state will take him to work sometime soon and will have no trouble finding a home for this beautiful, affectionate little kitty!! In the meantime, we will consider ourselves blessed to be fostering him.  We will love him and take care of him so he will be the perfect companion for someone who perhaps has recently lost a kitty.

On to my card...........

Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge this fortnight is Butterfly/ies + S is for Silhouette &/or Use the Color Indigo. I was stumped at first but then I remembered some fabulous Wow! Resist Paper that is sadly discontinued now. I had been hoarding it, but this was the time to pull out the sheet with butterfly silhouettes. Oh, yes!! This paper comes embossed already, so all you have to do is apply ink to the paper to make the designs show up. I love the look of emboss resist, so this product is right up my alley! CropStop sent it to me as part of a prize some months ago. (THANKS, CS!!)

I also am entering this card in the Winnie & Walter Rerun #23 Challenge - Tree for all Seasons. I don't have the rerun set, so I drew inspiration from one of the fabulous cards featured on that post: Vanessa's gorgeous blue card. Oh, my....so beautiful!!!

I used a number of different blue Distress Inks smooshed on an acrylic block and misted with water to brush onto my background to give some pretty variation. LOVE the crisp blues with the white. Indigo must be in there some place!!! :)
Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set
Winnie & Walter - The Big, the Bold and Party Cutaways die set
Winnie & Walter - In a Word: Happy stamp set
Versafine ink - Majestic Blue
Wow! Resist paper (sadly discontinued)
Distress Inks - Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire, Blueprint Sketch, Salty Ocean, and Stormy Sky
Hope you liked meeting our new little foster kitty and enjoyed seeing my card. Thank you so much for stopping by!!

Be sure to check out my two GIVEAWAYS currently going on...HERE and HERE.  :)  And don't forget to be getting ready for the Cat Lovers Hop, October 23-28, 2017.  Purr.

Hi, Friends.....

Welcome regulars and also any visitors who are hopping along with in the Fall Coffee Lovers Bloghop!! I'm so glad to see you. Good thing I made this card last week because I never seem to be able to get one made and in the hop otherwise!! :)

In addition to my card, I have a little GIVEAWAY that you can check out at the bottom of this post. That makes two giveaways I currently have going on here at Her Peaceful Garden! (See above for the Cat Lovers Hop Badge GIVEAWAY, too.)
http://coffeelovingcardmakers.com/2017/09/2017-fall-coffee-lovers-blog-hop/

I don't have a lot of coffee stamps, so I made this card with a free digi image I found online.
One word of caution:  when you do a search for copyright-free digi stamps online, some of them are actually owned and still sold by their manufacturer!!!  You MUST try to track them down and get permission.  It can be hard, though.  I unwittingly printed this one out and made it into a card assuming that it was a copyright free one.....only later realizing that my search had yielded some that were not!!  I spent over an hour trying to track down the owner of this image...following several dead end leads without any success.  So I sincerely apologize for the "unauthorized" use of this image.  No violation was intended!  Please contact me if you know anything about it.   Thanks!

I colored this sweet image with Spectrum Noir markers and followed the current Viva la Verve Sketch.

I also used the rich, warm colors from the Winnie & Walter September Color Combo Challenge:

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set (for straight-edged pierced panel)
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set (for scalloped panel and little hearts)
Spectrum Noir markers
Pigma Micron Black Pens for accenting the steam
Distress Ink - Antique Linen (sponged over gray band to give it a warmer tone)
Nuvo drops - Buttermilk
Scraps from my stash

GIVEAWAY:
I have one $10 Starbucks Gift Card I would love to send to a random commenter on this post.....and/or on any other of my Coffee Hop posts I manage to make before the deadline hits!! :) My giveaway is open WORLDWIDE, but if the winner is international and doesn't have a Starbucks nearby I will send a different little prize!  Leave your comment below by 11:59 pm Pacific on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017 to be entered into the giveaway.

Hope you are enjoying this hop. Thank you so much for stopping by along the way!! Remember to get ready for the Cat Lovers Hop on Oct. 23-28!!! Meow.

http://herpeacefulgarden.blogspot.com/

Hi, Friends......

A dear couple in our church is moving to be closer to family and medical care. It's hard to see them go, but we know it is a wise decision. I was asked to make a large-format card so everyone could sign it. I went with an autumn theme and used the current Viva la Verve Sketch.

The scripture reads:  "Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you do not know."  Jeremiah 33:3

For my background, I pulled out a sheet from my stack of marker refill water backgrounds and heat embossed a variety of autumn leaves all over it in gold. LOVE!! I splattered it slightly with water to let the dyes react and sponged around the edges and some of the leaves with Distress Ink. The sentiment is one from my Verve - Scripture Medley 3 stamp set.
Supplies used include:
Verve - Scripture Medley 3 stamp set
Versafine ink - Vintage Sepia
Clear embossing powder
Various leaf stamps from my stash
Versamark ink
Gold embossing powder
Distress Inks
Silk leaves from my stash
Gold glitter glue
Gold sequins
Gold ribbon
Hope you enjoyed my card. Thank you so much for stopping by. Remember to get ready for the Cat Lovers Hop on Oct. 23-28!!! Meow.

Thanks with Autumn Tree

Hi, Friends......

The wildfire smoke has been so bad the last couple of days that I have just holed up in my craft room and stayed there! That's the ONLY good thing about the terrible smoke. Otherwise the air quality sensors throughout our area are registering at "Very Unhealthy" to "Hazardous". It's that bad here and throughout much of the West. We all feel ill. Ugh... On the bright side, I have managed to organize some of my supplies, make a couple of cards, and get working on arranging sponsors for the upcoming Cat Lovers Hop! Yay!!

Today I am sharing a card I made especially for a few challenges:
1. I am squeaking in on the last day for the Taylored Expressions - 9th Birthday Sketch Challenge. Look at the fun sketch Taylor made for us to try:

2. The Winnie & Walter August Color Combo Challenge, which ends soon!!  Look at the wonderful color palette Heather chose this month:

These colors remind me of crisp autumn days with blue skies and golden orange leaves. My tree is stamped onto a Gelato background that I splattered with Distress Ink.

3. Winnie & Walter also has their new Rerun #23 - Tree For All Seasons challenge up today. The Rerun set has many variations you can make on trees and the round crowns in the cards by Heather and Kelly reminded me of a tree from my Winnie & Walter - Kindness with Evelin T Designs stamp set.

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set (has scallops)
Winnie & Walter - In a Word: Thanks Cutaway die
Winnie & Walter - Kindness with Evelin T Designs stamp set
Versafine ink in Black Onyx
Gelatos
Mixed Media paper
Tonic Studios - Nuvo Crystal Drops
Scraps of cardstock (plain and glittered)  from my stash

Someone Remembers.....

Hi, Friends.....

It's been a long time since I put in an entry for Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge. Fortunately, her usual fortnight challenge was 4 weeks long this time, so even I was able to get a card in. And the theme was easy..... Butterfly/ies + Y is for You Choose &/or W is for Wedgewood Blue.  There is only a day or so left, but still time to join in the fun!!

Things have been pretty crazy here so I made a quick and easy card using patterned paper from the DCWV Botanical Stack that has both the butterfly and wedgewood blue. (I hope that is a butterfly on the paper and not a moth! The scripty text on the page mentioned butterflies, so I am saying it is one!)

Hey....I got a new camera!!  YAY!!!  Can you tell a difference in photo quality from my recent posts???  :)
A dear lady in our church has a rough September ahead of her. This will be the first anniversary of losing her hubby (which sadly happened on her birthday, of all days!). I thought I would make a card to let her know that her friends have not forgotten her during this especially difficult month. I totally love this sentiment from the Dare 2B Artzy - Prayers 4 You stamp set which I chose as a prize from them recently (THANKS, Dare 2B Artzy!!!).
Other supplies used include:
DCWV Botanical Stack
Dare 2B Artzy - Prayers 4 You stamp set
Distress Ink - Walnut Stain to darken the panel and ink edges
Versafine Ink - Onyx Black
Want 2 Scrap - Adhesive Rhinestones (THANKS, Diana Larson!!)
Ribbon from my stash
Hope you are safe from hurricanes, wildfires and extreme heat!  My prayers are with those who have suffered!!  We are smoky, smoky, smoky here in Idaho, but thankfully safe. Thank you so much for stopping by!
