CIJ - Another Fairy Christmas Card

Hi, Friends.......

I am sharing another one of the Fairy Christmas series I made. This time I am using the old version Blogger (still available for only a few more weeks.....ugh!) so I should be able to make this post okay. (I hope...)

NOTE: For any of you who are having trouble with the "new" blogger, be sure to send them feedback with your complaint by clicking on "Help and Feedback" on the left sidebar of your dashboard page. (I have used it several times already!! lol...)

One-layer CAS is not my usual style. I tend generally more toward a clean and layered look. But it is fun sometimes to dabble in other things and this stamp set seemed perfect for CAS. To be honest, I don't know how to make a CAS card that is not an OLC! lol...

You can't tell from the photo, but I have added Wink of Stella sparkle over the fairy dress and the dream bubble on this card...for just a little extra magic.

Supplies used include:
The Cat's Pajamas - Fairy Christmas stamp set
Tsukineko - Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black
Distress Inks for watercoloring
Wink of Stella marker on the fairy dress
Core'dinations - heavy duty white cardstock
Thank you for visiting my blog today. We are in a blistering heat wave right now and I can't really do anything but sit at my computer. Hope you are staying cool and safe! Merry Christmas in July to everyone.

🖤

Hi, Friends.......

Don't know about you, but this "New" Blogger and I are NOT on speaking terms! I lost most of this blog post....not all of it, mind you, it DID save part of it....but most of it disappeared.  Grrrrr!  So this is going to be a very abbreviated post. Sorry about that! :(

CIJ - Graphic 45 Mailer Upcycle

Hi, Friends......

Do you sometimes receive advertisements in the mail that are just tooooooooooooo pretty to discard???  I feel that way whenever a Graphic 45 mailer arrives.  So out come the scissors and punches to slice and dice the pretty parts for a card.   Here's one I did the other day.  I used the page featuring the G45 Twelve Days of Christmas and my Lots-o'-Dots background idea.  I embellished it by cutting up a Zva swirl that had been in my stash for quite awhile.

I was glad I remembered my trick of using Press 'n' Seal for applying my swirls.  You might recall I often have trouble getting my swirls separated from their backing and onto the card without losing some of the gems.  So I cut the swirl to the desired size, smooth a piece of Press 'n' Seal firmly over the top of the jewels, then gently remove the acetate backing of the swirl to expose its adhesive.  I can easily see thru the film to position the embellishment properly.  I press the swirl down firmly onto the card and remove the piece of wrap. Easy peasy and I don't lose any gems!!

Some background stamping along the margins of the candy cane print and inking on the edges of the circles and panel completed the vintage look.

Supplies used include:
Graphic 45 Mailer
EK Success - Circle Punch (1" diameter)
DCWV Patterned paper
Holly on margins of background - Stamper's Anonymous - TH Collection 2016 Stamptember Holiday stamp set (retired)
Simon Says Stamp - Khaki ink
Zva Swirl

Hope you liked my upcycled card.  Thank you so much for joining me in my Christmas in July series!  Stay cool and craft on!!!

CIJ with Vintage Holly Stickers

Hi, Friends......

I am here with another set of Christmas in July cards I made using vintage stickers. These were the other stickers on the sheet with the angels that I used HERE. Thank you to crafty pal, Karen, for these! <3

I used patterned paper scraps to make the oval and fancy frames for the stickers....and also for the pretty die cut Merry Christmas greeting. This sentiment die was a prize from the lovely Di Wray at Pixie's Snippets Playground. (THANKS, Di!! xoxox) I stamped some holly on the background to give it more depth and add to the vintage appeal.

Supplies used include:
Vintage stickers from Karen Ladd
My Favorite Things Die-namics - Stitched Oval STAX die set (retired)
Spellbinders die (rec'd in prize, cannot find online)
Creative Expressions - Sue Wilson - Mini Christmas Wishes die
DCWV scraps from stash
Holly on margins of background - Stamper's Anonymous - TH Collection 2016 Stamptember Holiday stamp set (retired)
Simon Says Stamp - Khaki ink

Here are the other cards I made in this series:

Hope you enjoyed these easy vintage cards! I had so much fun making them......and I actually used ALL the stickers on that sheet. Yay....one less thing in my stash.....only 3 million things to go!! lol...

Comet Neowise
Comet Neowise

Have any of you seen Comet Neowise yet? It's the finest comet for visibility in years. I haven't seen it yet, but I am going to look at sunset for it this evening. Right now, in most places it is visible in the early morning and just after sunset. I have a clearer look to the west than to the east so I couldn't see it when I got up early the other morning. I'll let you know if I see it tonight! More info HERE.

Small Card with Babushka Doll

Hi, Friends......

Okay, be honest with me here....raise your hand if you have items that have been in your stash for over 20 years. Uh-huh...same here!

Back when I was first into cardmaking, a friend gave me several bags of lone envelopes. She stocked the greeting cards at a local grocery....and apparently when they had out of season cards, they destroyed the cards and discarded the envelopes. Lots of times in commercial card displays the envelopes were a real mess....and you had to hunt for the correct size for the card you were selecting. (Remember back when we used to BUY cards.....and were thousands of dollars richer??? lol..) This friend would gather up all the stray envelopes when she was changing out her display and give them to me!!! (heart eyes) I STILL HAVE MANY OF THEM!!!!! (embarrassed eyes) I've used a fair number of them, but a decent sized plastic box stuffed full of them is still on my shelf!

This stash of stray envelopes contains a variety of different colors, sizes and patterns and I rarely open the box to use anything from it. I recently checked to see what the minimum size required for mailing is. I found that for the USA the envelopes have to be at least 3-1/2" x 5". So I pulled out the ones I found of this size and now have a little stack of roughly a dozen of these little mailers. And now...my goal is to use them up by making small cards that fit them. (Naturally, I CAN'T just give this whole box to a thrift store and be rid of the mess. Oh, no.....that would be admitting defeat! Must use. Must use. Hahahaha...)

So I cut a leftover Babushka Doll from patterned paper in my scrap bag and put her on a small card. I actually found that I LOVE the scaled-down size of this card. One small image completely takes over the card. Easy peasy!! I added a sentiment and some Nuvo drops and this sweet little card was complete. Now I am looking forward to making more of these small sized cards!!

Supplies used include:
Babushka Doll from an old MAMBI stack
The Alley Way Stamps - Speak Easy stamp set (retired)
Versafine Ink in Onyx Black
Lawn Fawn - Small Stitched Rectangles die set
DCWV scraps of patterned cardstock
Tonic Studios - Nuvo Drops

Do you have stray envelopes in your stash? Maybe my card will inspire you to make some cards of different sizes for them, too. Thank you so much for stopping by!!

CIJ - Believe in Santa Quilt Card

Hi, Friends......

I am back to share another Christmas quilt card I made with a large image from patterned paper. I am still undecided whether or not this inlaid die-cut technique is a good way to use these oversized pieces.....or if the quilt block framework draws away from the image too much. I kept to icy aquas with dashes of red from Santa and the sentiment on this card.

Supplies used include:
Gina Marie Designs - Stitched Quilt #3 Block Die - Flower Burst
Quietfire Designs - We Believe in Santa! (retired)
Versafine ink in Crimson Red
Inspired by Stamping - Fancy Labels 3 Dies (retired)
DCWV Patterned Paper and Solid Cardstock
Dollar Store Foam Snowflakes (still trying to use these crazy things up....some of them have 7 points!!)

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope your July is going well. Our weather has finally warmed up and my garden is exploding with growth. Yay! Hope our season is long enough for tomatoes and squashes to ripen!

CIJ with Vintage Angel Stickers

Hi, Friends......

I am here with a few easy Christmas in July cards I made using stickers from my stash. Do you have Christmas stickers that are neglected, too? This is a great time of year to get them out and make some cards with them. Dare I say....actually use them up???? lol..    It's easy to make a whole pile of pretty cards with little effort and use up scraps besides! :)

Maybe you have plenty of stickers, but are flummoxed when you try to use them. My cards are not exactly shining examples, but I follow these easy steps:
1. Choose the sticker you wish to use.
2. Use a die cut (or die cuts) to frame it. Let the style be your guide.
3. Choose a coordinating background and, if desired, a sentiment.
4. Add stamping or other embellishments to the background, if desired.

For these cards, I used some lovely vintage stickers that my crafty pal, Karen Ladd, gave me quite some time ago. (THANKS, Karen!!) This sticker sheet contained several angels and several bundles of holly. I chose the angels for this project since they are all wearing hats and Jo's Christmas Kickstart Challenge is Hatty Christmas this fortnight. :)

I knew I wanted to use a variety of warm golden patterned papers, so instead of Christmas scraps I grabbed my autumn scrap box. I die cut a fancy Spellbinders vintage frame that fit the sticker in size, shape, and style. I added another fancy die cut behind it. I added stamping to the background.

Each of the four cards has slight differences.  Some of the stickers have a tiny greeting on them, so I did not add another sentiment. I stamped on some of the backgrounds and left one blank. I also varied the embellishments....sequins, confetti, Nuvo drops.....or nothing at all.

Supplies used include:
Vintage Stickers from Karen Ladd
Spellbinders - Nestabilities - 5x7 Reflective Moment die set
Spellbinders - Heartfelt Creations - Raindrops on Roses die set
Nuvo Drops - Bright Gold
Sequins and Confetti from stash
Holly on margins of background - Stamper's Anonymous - TH Collection 2016 Stamptember Holiday stamp set (retired)
Sentiment - Clearly Besotted - Modern Christmas stamp set (retired)
Simon Says Stamp - Khaki ink
DCWV and Core'dinations scraps from stash

Here are the others:

Which do you like best?

Hope you enjoyed my vintage angel cards. I love to mix and match patterned papers, so these were really fun to make. I still have my holly card set from the other stickers on the sheet to show you soon.

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you will get out some of your stickers and make a few Christmas in July cards, too!!

Thanks with Felt Flowers and Doily

Hi, Friends......

I am here with a couple of quick and pretty thank you cards. I had this patterned paper already cut into A2 sized background pieces, so all I needed to do was add a doily, a thanks diecut, and some fun felt flowers. Easy peasy! Some rhinestones and sequins add a bit of sparkle.

I am entering this in the current MFT Color Challenge. Here's the inspiration palette they gave us:

My colors are a bit more subdued with a slightly vintage look, but I hope they are close enough.

Here's my second card.....

Supplies used include:
Winnie &Walter - In a Word: Thanks Cutaway die - retired
Doodlebug - Mini Doilies
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set - retired

He has Made Everything Beautiful....Gift Set

Hi, Friends......

Here's a project I made a few months ago and never got blogged. (I am soooooooooo behind on blogging!!) It was a birthday card and calendar gift set for a friend. I used a mini-calendar from my crafty pal, Karen Ladd. (THANKS, Karen!!) Even though the year was already underway, a magnetic calendar is always useful in the home office or the kitchen. My backgrounds are on mixed media paper using a bunch of inks and sprays. I used a NBUS peacock feather stamp by Denami which I heat embossed in gold. LOVE!!!

I am entering this in the Cards und More Challenge this month.  Look at this fabulous mood board they gave for inspiration:
