February Rudolph Days - December 25th

Hi, Friends......

I am here with my February Rudolph Days card.  This is a short month (and my BD is tomorrow....YAY!!) so I want to make sure I get this card done and blogged!!!  Can't miss a month if I want to be eligible for the special draw at the end of the year!  :)

Long ago, I received a sweet assortment of items from Pretty Little Studio.  Love their vintage pieces!!  In it were some pocket scrap items, including some fun old-time Christmas scenes.  I could never quite figure out what background to put them on.  I am not completely sure this background is the best, but I chose this layered "strips o' scraps" piece for this panel.  It makes for a very busy card, but I think I like it.  I added snowflakes and twine for finishing touches.

Supplies used include:
Pretty Little Studio Christmas pocket card
Date stamp
Scraps of old Christmas cards for my background
Twine and snowflakes from stash
Thank you for stopping by today.  Hope to see you over at Scrappy Mo's for Rudolph Days!!

Dancing Spirit - Turner Syndrome Card 3

Hi, Friends......

I am here with my final card for the 3rd Annual Turner Syndrome Awareness Hop hostessed by the lovely Lori Kobular and her beautiful daughter, Julie.  I have participated in this Hop for several years, but before that I had never heard of Turner Syndrome.

Here's a little of what I have learned about Turner Syndrome that I have cut and pasted from this informative page about Turner Syndrome HERE.

These TS gals show inspiring strength of spirit overcoming difficulties and challenges as the wonderful and valuable individuals that God designed them to be!!  The world may look on them as less than perfect, but God does not.  My card today spotlights the joy their lives reflect and bring to others.

Supplies used include:
Stampendous - Laurel Burch Fish Wishes stamp set
Versafine ink - Smokey Gray
Prima Flowers
Adhesive Gems
Dollar Store Butterfly sticker
Scraps of Patterned Paper from stash

It's a Girl Thing - Turner Syndrome Hop Card 1

Hi, Friends......

I am here with the first of three cards I made for the 3rd Annual Turner Syndrome Awareness Hop hostessed by the lovely Lori Kobular and her beautiful daughter, Julie.  I have participated in this Hop for several years, but before that I had never heard of Turner Syndrome.

Here's a little of what I have learned about Turner Syndrome that I have cut and pasted from Lori's post:

Turner Syndrome is a genetic disorder where a female is born missing all or part of her second X chromosome leaving her with life-long medical issues and learning disabilities. This condition occurs one in 2,000 female births worldwide, but is more common among pregnancies that do not survive to full term. That is why Turner Syndrome Females are considered MIRACLES!

Since this syndrome only occurs in females, they have adopted the slogan "It's a Girl Thing".  Somewhere in the back of my mind, I thought I remembered a girly stamp set in my stash with that sentiment..... Voila!!  I was thrilled to find an older Sweet 'n Sassy stamp set had just what I was looking for!

Butterflies are also motifs for Turner Syndrome Awareness Events.  I found this stamped panel in my stash which I colored and embellished for my card.  I am not that great at coloring, as you can  see, but I still like these pretty butterflies.

Supplies Used Include:
Three Butterfly thrift store stamp
White Embossing Powder
Versamark Ink
Sakura Gel Pens
Sharpie Markers
Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps - It's a Girl Thing (retired)
Versafine Ink - Spanish Moss
Inspired by Stamping - Fancy Labels 3 Dies (retired)
Distress Ink - Victorian Velvet
Sequins from stash
Scraps from stash
Hope you liked my card and learned a little bit about Turner Syndrome at the same time.  Thank you for stopping by and I'd love to see you join in the Hop!

Valentine-Making Party

Yes, this is of me.  What of it?  lol...

Hi, Friends.....

Just a quick post to show you some shots from our annual Valentine Making Party with a few ladies at our tiny church.  I and another card-making girlfriend brought supplies to share.....and everyone* had fun making cards.

* Actually, I didn't make any cards.  I just offered assistance when someone needed help stamping or using the die cut machine.....and enjoyed the snacks the other ladies brought! YUM!!!  Fortunately... since I was the only one snapping pictures, there are not any shots of me with my plate (and mouth!) full.  😉

Picking out papers and adding embellishments is fun for everyone!
Here Linda is helping Theresa (age 90!) with her selections. ❤

Adalee (age 4) liked using lots of sparkly hearts on her cards!
Awww....so sweet!!  ❤

Linda made some beautiful mix and match heart cards using the
Big Shot for die cutting and dry embossing!

Sharon gives Gwen a hand at stamping.

Susan (center) generously shared some beautiful Valentine card kits she got on Etsy.  Gwen and Delaina are at her table learning how to make them.

Not shown in my photos:  Rebecca (Adalee's mommy) and Janis (gobbling snacks).  Ha.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my little Valentine making party.  It wasn't much of a party, really....just a craft afternoon...but it was fun.  I encourage you to do something similar as you are able.

As you see, none of us is masked.  We are very blessed here in our part of Idaho to not be under any restrictions that way.  Life for us here in our tiny community and down the hill in town goes on pretty much the same as always.  Very thankful.

Thank you for stopping by today.  Stay healthy and creative!

You Know You Love Me

Hi, Friends....

I am back with my final card for the Let's Squash It! Challenge.  This time we are to use a Love-Themed Embossing Folder + Red or Pink.

As I mentioned, I only have one love-themed embossing folder in my stash.  But I still got super-inspired and made several cards all using the sanding technique on Core'dinations cardstock of various colors.

For this card, I used the embossed panel as the background for a sweet NBUS kitty image that the lovely Di Wray sent me as a prize over at her Snippets Playground Challenge.  (THANKS, Di!)

I kept things understated by not coloring the image, but keeping it in neutral gray with some white gel pen accents. I livened things up a bit by grounding my kitty on some sparkly rhinestone trim.  I used the paw print from the set as corner embellishments.

Supplies used include:
PaperArtsy - SM25 - Cat stamp
Versafine Ink in Onyx Black
Sakura - White Gel Pen
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set
- retired

Couture Creations - Smooch embossing folder
Core'dinations Sand-it Gadget
Dollar Store Rhinestone Trim

Hope you enjoyed seeing my sanded dry embossed cards over the last couple of days.  They were a lot of fun to make!

Everyone be careful in the winter weather much of the USA is having.  We were very spoiled with our unusually mild winter....didn't even have a white Christmas!  But now we are finally getting our winter snow.  I don't mind it at all.....as long as I don't have to go anywhere!!  lol...

Stay healthy and creative!!!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Hi, Friends....

I am back with a couple more cards for the Let's Squash It! Challenge.  This time we are to use a Love-Themed Embossing Folder + Red or Pink.

As I mentioned in my last post, I only have one love-themed embossing folder in my stash.  But I still got super-inspired and made several cards all using the sanding technique on Core'dinations cardstock of various colors

Here's one I made using standard white core red cardstock.  I teamed it up with a simple Unity sentiment stamped in Versafine - Satin Red ink.

This next card is made with Core'dinations - Gemstones Cardstock and stamped with Versafine Crimson Red ink.

Supplies used include:
Sentiment from Unity:  "Happy Valentine's Day!" from Sweet for my Sweet
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set
- retired
Core'dinations - Gemstones Cardstock
Couture Creations - Smooch embossing folder
Core'dinations Sand-it Gadget
Hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day!  One more card using this embossing folder to share with you.  See you soon!

Love - Black Magic Cardstock with Dry Embossing

 Hi, Friends.....

I am here with an entry for the current Let's Squash It! Challenge where the lovely hostesses, Jo and Gail, ask us to use a Love-Themed Embossing Folder + Red or Pink.

In searching through my rather generous collection of folders, I was surprised to find only one with a love theme or hearts!  It is the sweet Couture Creations - Smooch folder.  It is so cute that I made several cards with it.  I hope they are sufficiently unique to qualify as three separate entries....but if not, I totally understand!

Remember when sanding the surface of cardstock was super-popular???  I had not sanded a dry embossed surface for quite some time so I decided to use that technique for each of my cards.  It always gives such a soft velvety texture to the design.  I hunted through my Core'dinations cardstock stacks for pinks and reds with contrasting or coordinating colors beneath the surface that would be exposed by the sanding.

I rediscovered a pad I had not used much.....an old Core'dinations Black Magic stack.  It has a thin layer of black paper fibers over a colored core.  How fun is this???  I used a glitter gel pen to add accents onto the black surface and embellished with ribbon and some charms.  LOVE!!

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set - retired
Couture Creations - Smooch embossing folder
Core'dinations Black Magic 6x6 Cardstock
Core'dinations Sand-it Gadget
Sakura Glitter Gel Pen
Ribbon and Charms from my stash

Hope you liked this fun card!  Stay tuned for a couple more posts using this same embossing folder!
