Hi, Friends.....
Here's a sweet card I made for my dear MIL for Mother's Day. She doesn't look at my blog, so I am okay posting it a few days early! :)
Somewhere along the line...maybe thrift store...maybe from some inherited craft supplies...who knows???.... I came to own a very pretty package of floral coasters. I LOVE them!! They are perfect for pairing with a doily and sentiment for a quick but charming card. There are four different floral styles and I let hubby choose which one to put a Happy Mother's Day greeting inside for his mom's special day. He chose this pretty purple one.
I love purple and use it a lot on my cards. I often pair it with green or yellow, but this time I tried gray to coordinate with this pretty coaster. I love how it gives a very serene look to a color that often is quite dramatic.
Supplies used include:
Unity "Thankful for You" stamp from grab bag - still trying to track down which set it came from.
Versafine ink in Smokey Gray
Salvaged white cardstock from a mailing advertisement
Lawn Fawn - Large Stitched Rectangles die set
Floral Coaster from stash
White Doily from my stash
Background panel from K&Co.
Core'dinations/Darice cardstock for card base
Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope all you ladies out there know how vital and important you are...whether you are technicaly a Mother or not. All women play a crucial role as examples and mentors to the young ladies of today. Thank you for shaping the world of tomorrow.

Hi, Friends......
I am here with a pretty card with a special feature that is fun and easy to do...but adds a little something extra to your card. It's an Aperture style that I learned over at Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge back when she was on the Letter A in her challenge themes. (She's currently on the Letter X...so this has been awhile!)
In case you didn't know, Mrs. A's fortnightly challenges feature, along with selected colors and themes, an optional fancy fold element.....with tutorials to help us accomplish them. I rarely attempt them, but I loved this aperture style card back when she introduced that challenge. You can see the card I made at that time HERE. I have been wanting ever since to make another. So here's the one I made this time.
Here it is propped open a bit......
I love how this style is ideal for using stickers that have sentiments printed on them. The pretty sticker and words still show when you open the card.
Here's my card fully open....
Supplies used include:
M&C Boutique - Large Circle Frame die set
Sticker from stash
Sizzix - Circles, Scallop die set
Verve - Sprightly Sprigs die set (retired)
Scraps from stash for leaves, scalloped wreath base, and sentiment panel/mat
DCWV patterned papers and cardstock
Want 2 Scrap - Adhesive Pearls
Cardz-TV - Favorite Phrases stamp set
Hope you enjoyed seeing my card. A big thank you to Mrs. A for introducing me to this style. Have a great day!!

Hi, Friends......
What's the most unusual request you've ever had for a card? I got an order the other day for a funny one.....a chicken-themed sympathy card. A friend at church recently lost a bunch of her chickens to night-time raids by skunks. 🐔🐔🐔😞😠😢 Many of us up here in our tiny community have chickens and so we all can relate to the anguish of a predator attack. Another friend asked me to make a card expressing condolences for losing so many of her flock. This sounded like fun!
I don't have one of those cute skunk stamp sets with a "That stinks" sentiment. So I used a skunk from an adorable NBUS set my crafty pal Karen Ladd gave me (THANKS, Karen!!) and made a simple but fun card with a computer-generated sentiment. I colored the images with my Prismacolors.
Inside I used some chicken ephemera pieces from the Bella Blvd Barn Yard collection. I think their big eyes look a little bit worried, don't you?
Supplies used include:
Hero Arts - Woodland Creatures stamp set
Versafine ink in Onyx Black
Unity - "So sorry for your loss" from Beautiful Life, Blessed Memories (Feb. 2015 Sentiment Kit)
Lawn Fawn - Large Stitched Rectangles die set
Bella Blvd - Barn Yard Paper Pieces (retired)
Prismacolor Colored Pencils
I hope this card brings a smile to the face of our friend who lost so many chickens. (By the way, they have killed 4 skunks....so far!) Hope you enjoyed the card, too. Thank you so much for stopping by today!!
Are you able to enjoy some spring weather where you live? I have hummingbirds draining my nectar feeders and summer birds gorging on the seed feeders. So fun and interesting to watch them! Do you have any birdfeeders up?
