Happy Birthday, Karen!

Hi, Friends.....

I'm here today with a card to wish my crafty friend, Karen Ladd, a very Happy Birthday!!!!

Are purples hard for anyone else to photograph?  I really had to play with PicMonkey to get these colors anywhere near the real ones.....and they still aren't great....esp on the watercolor background!!!  But I was in a purple mood and Karen loves kitties, so I went from there.  :)

Naughty Newton has decided the empty box is as much fun as the gift that is supposed to be inside!!!

I stamped Newton on a piece of my watercolor marker refill background paper and colored him with Spectrum Noirs.  I don't think I have tried coloring over one of my backgrounds before....at least not very many times.  I wasn't sure how the colors would look, but I think it worked pretty well.

Supplies used include:
Newton's Nook - Newton's Antics stamp set

My Favorite Things Die-namics - Stitched Square STAX die set
Sizzix - TH Texture Fades - Sparkles
DCWV scrap of lavender tiny plaid print
Wink of Stella pen on a few of the embossed sparkles
Sparkly raffia ribbon from Dollar Store

Karen, I hope you like your card!

If any of you would like to wish Karen a Happy Birthday, too, hop over to her Flickr acct and comment on one of her latest projects!  Thank you, everyone, for stopping by.  Have a lovely week!!!

God's Most Beautiful Thoughts....

Hi, Friends......

Everyone at church is so excited that our pastor and his wife are expecting their first baby!  I wanted to make a special congratulatory card for them.  I used a sweet thrift store stamp that says:
"God's most beautiful thoughts bloom into children."
I stamped it on vellum with Versamark and heat embossed with WOW! Embossing Powder - Opaque Bright White Regular.   I colored on the non-embossed side with Spectrum Noir markers.

I wanted to use this adorable teddy bear confetti, so a shaker seemed the way to go.  :)

I also did a little bit of dressing up the inside, but nothing too fancy.  I discovered with these last two cards that decorating the inside of my cards is a great way to use more scraps!!!  Yay!!

Other supplies used include:
Sizzix - Circles, Scallop
Congratulations stamp from my stash
Ranger - Archival Ink (Wendy Vecchi Designer Series) in Forget-Me-Not
Scraps from my stash

Hope you enjoyed this card.  Thank you so much for stopping by.  Your comments make my day!!

Scholarly Cat Birthday Card

Hi, Friends.....

Sorry for the long absence from my blog.  I'm still not 100% recovered from being sick for a couple of weeks with some nasty bug that is going around plus we have had some challenging family drama and other just regular things....and my son celebrated a birthday!

He's a remarkable young man....very bookish and scholarly.....and never without Othello, his black feline companion, in his bookshelf-lined room.  I am quite proud of my son and so thankful for him.  So I wanted to make him a extra special birthday card.

I recently won a Stampendous gift card and found this Cattus Librum stamp, the PERFECT stamp to use for his card, which I heat embossed in black with clear powder on some parchment looking paper.  I also used some delicious vintage papers from the new Graphic 45 Communique collection I won recently. (THANKS, Stampendous and G45!!!)  (Hey, for once I used some G45 products before I had them long enough to say I was hoarding them!  I really am trying to follow my "Hoard no more" rule this year.)

I even decorated the inside of the card!!  Something I hardly ever do.

Other supplies used for this card include:
Darice - Crackle embossing folder
Distress Ink - Brushed Corduroy
Sizzix - Fancy Labels Dies
Versafine Ink- Onyx Black
Bits and pieces from some other Graphic 45 collections

I love how this card turned out and my son really liked it, too.  :)

Thank you for stopping in today.  I'm glad finally to be feeling up to begin making cards and blogging again.  It's going to take awhile to be back to full strength, but this is a start!!  :)

WINNERS of my Big Blog Blitz Triple Giveaway!!!!

Hi, Friends.....

I am here to announce the lucky winners of my Big Blog Blitz Giveaway.  As you recall, this Blog Blitz was where I made 11 cards from the same Viva La Verve Sketch..........using ALL scraps!!!  Yay!  I was really planning to make masculine cards, but this scheming sketch had a mind of its own and only made lady cards for me!  Ha.

Each post had a question for you to answer to be entered into the drawing.  I enjoyed so much reading your answers!!  Thank you for joining in with your entertaining answers!!!  I hope it was as much fun for you as it was for me.  I wish I could send each of you a prize because you all just made my day with your enthusiasm and frequent visits.  Sadly, I only have prizes for three.

I just got done tallying up all the qualifying entries from each of the eleven posts and came up with a total of 169 to feed into Random.org for the lucky winners.  I want to add that each of the winners answered all or almost all of the questions on each of the eleven posts.  It paid off!!  Here are the names:

Alicia at Golden Goddess Designs

Teresa Doyle

Dawn at Designs by Dragonfly

Congratulations, ladies!!!! Please email me with your snail mail info so I can get your prizes mailed to you: jwoolbright at gmail dot com.

Many thanks, again, to each of you for your comments and encouragement. I appreciate you all!!! Have a lovely day!!!
