Hi, Friends....

I am here with one more card for this evening that I made for the big Winnie & Walter - 3rd Birthday Bash celebration over on their blog!!! Not only do they have a GIGANTIC giveaway, but they have 10 different challenges that you can play along with.....including a chance at a big Guest Star slot, if you participate with at least 4 different cards starring their products!! (See their blog post for details on that.) Winnie & Walter challenges are among my favorites anywhere in the papercrafting blogosphere. I hope you will join me in wishing Shay and everyone at W&W a Happy 3rd Birthday and play along with the challenges!!!

This is much more CAS than my usual style, but I like the wide open space with the little birdie from the Winnie & Walter - LS Exclusives: So Tweet with Evelin T Designs stamp set and cut with the corresponding Winnie & Walter - LS Exclusives: So Tweet with Evelin T Designs die set. I used a Distress Ink smooshed background in spring pastels that I am pleasantly surprised shows up in the photograph. (I wasn't sure that it would be visible against the bright colors of the rest of the card!! lol...)

The little fellow's balloon is from the same So Tweet stamp set. The sentiment is from the Winnie & Walter - Sketchy Thoughts stamp set and barely fits inside the balloon, but I think it looks okay, anyway. What do you think? I colored the birdie and his balloon with Distress Markers and Distress Inks with my waterbrush. I die cut my layered panels with my go-to Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set and Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set. (LOVE those Essential series die sets!!!) Lastly, I attached a few sequins to add some sparkle and fun.

Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving me so many sweet comments! They mean a lot to me!! I hope to see you at my Virtual Birthday Party and also over at the Winnie & Walter - 3rd Birthday Bash celebration. Have a great rest of the week!!!

Hi, Friends....

I am back with another card to share for the big Winnie & Walter - 3rd Birthday Bash celebration over on their blog!!! These colors are so much brighter and prettier in real life..... (sigh)
Since it is my Birthday Week, I have several thank yous to write so I thought I better make a few thank you cards. I love this little birdie from the Winnie & Walter - LS Exclusives: So Tweet with Evelin T Designs stamp set. I stamped him and some little hearts from the same set plus the sentiment from the Winnie & Walter - Big Hugs with Evelin T Designs stamp set onto a smooshed background.

I die cut the stamped piece with the long tag from the Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set and slipped a fun piece of mesh underneath it. I mounted it on a DCWV background cut with the large scalloped rectangle from the Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set. A pretty gingham tie, a few sequins, and some accents from my clear Wink of Stella pen....and I was done. Sweet!!!

Thank you for stopping by and leaving me your kind comments!!! I hope to see you at my Virtual Birthday Party and also over at the Winnie & Walter - 3rd Birthday Bash celebration. I still have another card to share with you, so I will see you soon!!!

Hi, Friends.....

I am here with a super-CAS card to share that I made for the big Winnie & Walter - 3rd Birthday Bash celebration over on their blog!!! (I say super-CAS, but that is all relative....It is CAS for me......but it is still layered!!) Not only does W&W have a GIGANTIC giveaway, but they have 10 different challenges that you can play along with.....including a chance at a big Guest Star slot, if you participate with at least 4 different cards starring their products!! (See their blog post for details on that.) Winnie & Walter challenges are among my favorites anywhere in the papercrafting blogosphere. I hope you will join me in wishing Shay and everyone at W&W a Happy 3rd Birthday and play along with the challenges!!!

I made this card for my dear hubby who works long hours out of town. He has been gone a lot lately on work trips (some for 2 or 3 weeks at a time).  I want him to know I miss him when he is gone and that I appreciate his hard work that enables me to stay home and craft. :) Since it is for a guy, I wanted it to be CAS and not fussy.

I love this brushstroke sentiment from Winnie & Walter - Big Hugs with Evelin T Designs stamp set. I stamped it with Versafine ink in Onyx Black onto a smooshed background made with Distress Inks in Twisted Citron and Salty Ocean. (Don't you love how the colors blended to a bright green between the two swipes?) Lastly, I used the two sizes of pierced rectangles from the Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set and black matting to finish this card. Very simple design, but I know my hubby will love it. <3 <3 <3

Thank you for stopping by. I love reading your kind comments!!! I hope to see you at my Virtual Birthday Party and also over at the Winnie & Walter - 3rd Birthday Bash celebration. I still have more cards to share with you, so I will see you soon!!!

Hi, Friends.....

I am here with a super-fun anniversary card that I made for the big Winnie & Walter - 3rd Birthday Bash celebration over on their blog!!!

I try to make an anniversary card for each couple in our small church, so I always like to have some on hand. This one started with a stenciled background that had been lying dormant in my stash for quite some time that I die cut with my Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set. When I saw the adorable giraffes in the brand-new Winnie & Walter - Big Hugs with Evelin T Designs stamp set, I knew I wanted to use it with this background.  (The background was made by sponging Versamark ink through a stencil from the Artistcellar - JKB TEXTures 2 Series 4-stencil set and then heat embossed with gold powder. Love the exotic animal print look!!)

For my giraffes, I used a sheet of mixed media paper dyed with Imagine Crafts (Tsukineko) Walnut Ink Crystals. Have you ever played with these before? If you have used Brushos or ColorBursts, you have a pretty good idea of the process. These are more granular and crystalline than the fine powders, though, so you get some deeply concentrated areas where the larger crystals dissolved slowly. I LOVE the variations inherent in these kind of coloring media!! I hovered my clear giraffe stamp over my 9 X 11 sheet till I found a place with the right distribution of spots and waves. Then I stamped and die cut the sweet little pair.

Uh, oh.......Another Crafty Janis Brainy Idea hit me!!! Why not embellish the pair so you know which one is which!!?? I stamped and cut a hat out of the same Walnut Stain background using my Winnie & Walter - LS Exclusives: So Tweet with Evelin T Designs stamps and die sets. (Who knew the little hats for the birdies would fit the giraffes???? I thought I would give it a try and it worked!! Yay!!)  For Mrs. G, I made a simple blingy necklace from sequins. Aren't these two just adorable???

I pulled out a deep yellow patterned paper oval (MFT stitched oval die cut) and as soon as I had it behind them, I saw a big huge moon rising over the African savanna! Perfect. I cut some gold foiled cardstock hearts with the little heart dies from the same So Tweet set and combined them with some wonderful Serendipity Stamps - Mixed Wood-Grain Sequins. (How perfect are these for a safari look? I wish you could see them better in the photo!!)

Do you like my little giraffe couple?? I just love how this card turned out. So much fun!!!  Hope you enjoyed it, too.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope to see you at my Virtual Birthday Party and also over at the Winnie & Walter - 3rd Birthday Bash celebration. I still have more cards to share with you, but most of them will have to wait until tomorrow!!

I really have had fun pulling things out of my reject pile and making them into my Winnie & Walter entries. This time, while I was rummaging, I pulled out a stenciled background from a couple of years ago. It wasn't a W&W stencil, but I have modified it into a pretty card with my versatile W&W Essentials dies. Winnie & Walter offers several selections of Essentials Cutaways sets....I only have two of them, but I reach for them over and over and over!!

Can I just take time out right now to say how much I LOVE Winnie & Walter products?.....Particularly their dies! Several weeks ago I was organizing my die collection onto magnetic sheets.....and it all of a sudden hit me. Winnie & Walter ALWAYS includes a magnetic sheet in each of their die packages.....be it a single word die... or a coordinating set that goes with their stamps.... or a stand-alone set like their Essentials series. Not only that, but they are the only one of the 17 or so different companies that I own dies from that consistently does that! Sometimes we might not consciously notice these little extras that are included....but they make a huge difference!! THANK YOU, W&W!!! You are the best!!!

Products used include:
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set (scalloped rectangle and butterflies)
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set (large pierced rectangle and banner)
Unity sentiment (from Feb.2015 Sentiment Kit)
Stamper's Anonymous - Wendy Vecchi - Build a Bloom - Stamp It (Stencils included in this package.)
Distress Inks
Stampendous - Stamp and Bond Embossing Powder
Clearsnap - Designer Foils
Ranger - Glossy Accents
Clear Wink of Stella pen
Versafine Ink - Imperial Purple
Clear embossing powder from my stash
Scraps of DCWV paper and cardstock for the panels, banner, and butterflies
Blue lace seam binding ribbon from stash
Pale blue ribbon from stash

I really like the restful colors of this card for a sympathy card. Like most of us, it can be difficult for me to make one of these when a sad occasion arises, so I like to have a few on hand.

Although the stenciling on this patterned paper background worked just fine, I was FOILED in my attempt at foiling the flower stamp. After relegating it to sit on time-out (for misbehavior) for a year and half in my reject pile, I relented and decided to embrace the arty look of the incomplete foiling and use it for this challenge. Somehow it looks a lot better to me now than it did at the time when I was horrified at the foiling flub!! (In case you are interested, here is a link to the "other half" of this background where I tried something different...NOT foiling!!! :) I am better at editing now and the colors you see here on my new card are closer to true.)

I am also playing along with Mrs. A's current Butterfly Challenge where she asks us to use the requisite Butterfly(ies) plus G is for Glossy Accents &/or S is for the color Slate Blue. I used both options. My little butterflies are colored with Clear Wink of Stella pen first, and then covered with Glossy Accents....which gives them a shimmery pearlized finish.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope to see you at my Virtual Birthday Party and also over at the Winnie & Walter - 3rd Birthday Bash celebration and Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge. I still have more cards to share with you! I will see how many I get posted today. Some might have to wait till tomorrow. :)

YOU are invited to my BIRTHDAY PARTY!!! Giveaway!!

Hi, Friends.....

Hey, it's my birthday today!!!

(Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me!!!)

I feel like having a party and you are invited!!!

I know that if you lived near me, you would each be bringing me a little gift because that's the kind of friends you are!! Right???? So here's your opportunity to imagine you are my neighbor and leave me a comment mentioning the birthday gift you would choose for me if you lived nearby. A link would be lovely (but not required) so I can actually see what I would be receiving. :)

I hope I am making it clear that you are NOT REALLY giving me this item...it is a GAME.  You choose something you would LIKE to give me and tell me what it is in the comment section to be entered into the giveaway!   (I wouldn't want anyone to think I was expecting them to really send me a gift!!  EEK!)

What's a party without a door prize?

I have a little surprise party gift for a randomly drawn party guest who "brought" a "gift".  Here's how to be eligible for the giveaway:
1.  Your "gift" should be $15 or less (internationals are welcome, but you will have to do your own currency conversions! lol..)
2.  Your "gift" has to be something that hasn't already been previously "given" to me by another commenter.  If you see the same thing mentioned in a earlier comment, please choose something else.  (Really, how many packages of purple sequins can I actually USE???!!!  Ha.)
3.  The party doors will stay open through next Monday.  Please leave your comment with your "gift" on this post by 11:59 pm PST on Monday, March 6, 2017. That gives you a whole week to "shop" for me. :)
4.  My party is open world-wide!!

Looking forward to seeing you at my PARTY!!!

PS......I like kitties and crafty stuff. :)

Crazy Star Patterned Background - Winnie & Walter

Hi, Friends....

As promised, I am here to share another card from the "I think I can save this thing that I pulled out of my reject pile" reclamation project. lol...

This is an entry in the big Winnie & Walter - 3rd Birthday Bash celebration over on their blog!!!

Products used include:
Winnie & Walter - Scenery: Bigger Bang Confetti
Waffle Flower - On My Mark stamp set (for the word "birthday!")
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set
Winnie & Walter - In a Word: Happy Cutaway die
Darice - Assorted Stars embossing folder
Distress Inks (Stars: Candied Apple, Ripe Persimmon, Carved Pumpkin, Fossilized Amber, Mowed Lawn, Salty Ocean, Wilted Violet) (Sponging: Spun Sugar, Squeezed Lemonade, Dried Marigold)
Clear Sparkle Embossing Powder from my stash

First off......I want to say that I really LIKE how this card turned out.....but it was a bit extremely touch and go for awhile! This card has a history like my Rainbow Stenciling card I posted earlier today.....because it too was a reject from that same W&W Rainbow challenge from last year.

Old card I made using a good line of stars.
What was different abt this one was that I had botched the stamping and started over.....resulting in the simple but nice card shown at right. The card with the botched stamping went in the reject pile....and that's what I set out to reclaim for today's card!

SUPER-CRAFTY JANIS BRAINY IDEA: (Oh, great....watch out!!!) The botched line of stamping wasn't super-awfully botched (really only one messed-up star...besides not being centered too well), so I thought I could camouflage it by adding lots more stars around it. Well, I only met with limited success.....but once I got started on this project I HAD to see it through!! That led to a eureka moment of self-discovery: JANIS' CRAFTING PHILOSOPHY!!!.... which you can read below in an actual excerpt from an email abt this card that I sent to my crafty confidante, Karen. I have corrected some of my typos and added some bold:

I stamped more lines of rainbow stars and botched the stamping even more!! groan... So I misted it all with water. Hmmmm....the botches were less conspicuous. Then I threw caution to the wind and dry embossed the whole thing in a random star pattern. Oh, dear....can this background be saved???? Well, it can't get any worse......so I brayered it and heat embossed it with clear sparkle powder. Not great....let's try misting it some more!! Hmmm....this is actually starting to look better for a change!! (Janis' philosophy: Keep messing with stuff until it gets so awful that eventually it HAS to start looking better!!!) Okay.....I know! SPONGING!! Ahhhhh.....that is more like it! So now I have a chaotic, but colorful starry background made into a card. Whew.....that was quite a process, but I am happy with it. :)

So there you have it. What a mess....but I am really LOVING what came out of it. So glad to not have to put it back in my reject pile and work on it next time around!! lol...

Many thanks for stopping by. Be sure to go check out the Winnie & Walter - 3rd Birthday Bash celebration!!  See you next time!!

Bright Rainbow Stenciling - Winnie & Walter

Hi, Friends.....

Ugh.....have any of you been hit by the stomach viruses or late winter colds that have been going around? I got them both in succession! (At least it wasn't at the same time!!) So my card-making enthusiasm got put on hold for a week or so. But I am baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!
(...albeit with boxes of Kleenexes within grabbing distance all over my house!!)

I am here with another card in vibrant colors that I made for the big Winnie & Walter - 3rd Birthday Bash celebration over on their blog!!!

For my card today, I used a background I had triiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiied to make for a previous W&W Challenge last year with rainbows as the theme. I had the "bright" idea of attempting to mask and mist my Winnie & Walter - Scenery: Multi-Faceted Creative Screenings with a rainbow array of mists and inks. It did NOT turned out the way I had hoped and this garishly bright stenciled background went directly into my reject pile. (You can see why, right?!!! lol....) It had languished there for months and while I was sick this week I decided to embrace the arty imperfections of this piece and try to reclaim it for the W&W - Bright Colors Challenge. (I must have been delirious!!!!)

Don't ask me why I can't seem to take a focused photo!!!  Maybe that's how my eyeballs are seeing with this virus and my camera has caught the same bug!!  Eeek!  (You have heard of a camera bug before, haven't you????? lol....)

There are some happy things about my card:
1. I don't have this untamed thing staring at my from my reject pile anymore.
2. I got to use some WONDERFUL W&W products: Winnie & Walter - Sketchy Thoughts stamp set, Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set (which are all new to me!!), in addition to my Winnie & Walter - Scenery: Multi-Faceted Creative Screenings stencil and some sequins tossed in as a sweet surprise in my latest package from W&W!!
3. I got to participate in the Winnie & Walter - 3rd Birthday Bash celebration challenges.
4. Maybe I brought a smile to your face, too!! :)

Thank you so much for stopping by. I have another "reject pile reclamation project" to share with you in a little while, so stayed tuned!!! (Same batty blogger, same batty blog!!!)

Celebrate Your Day - Winnie & Walter

Happy 3rd Birthday to our friends at Winnie & Walter!!!

Hi, Friends.....

I am here to share a card I made for the big Winnie & Walter - 3rd Birthday Bash celebration over on their blog!!!

I want to take this opportunity to say a big, huge CONGRATULATIONS to Shay at Winnie & Walter on this wonderful 3rd Birthday milestone.  Shay is one of the sweetest and most generous gals ever!!  Here's to many more successful years for you and everyone at W&W!!!
You might know that there is hardly anything in the papercrafting world I like better than Winnie &Walter challenges, so I have been really excited finally to get started on some cards for this current celebration! Not only do they have a GIGANTIC giveaway, but they have 10 (count 'em!...TEN) different challenges (with fabulous prizes) that you can play along with.....including a chance at a big Guest Star slot, if you participate with at least 4 different cards starring their products!! I'm obviously not good enough for that (not being humble...just realistic!!!), but what I lack in talent I make up for in WILD ENTHUSIASM!!!! lol.... :)

I also am playing along just for fun in Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge where she asks us to use a butterfly(ies) with the &/or options of P is for Paper Piercing (that's pieRcing not piecing, as I first had thought!) and/or F is for the color Fern. I am using dies from the lovely Tonic - Rococo Juliet Butterfly stamp and die set that I previously won as a prize from this very generous lady. (THANK YOU, Mrs. A!!!)

For my card I pulled out one of my "Leftover Easter Egg Dye" backgrounds on mixed media paper from last year!! (Do any of you remember me making these after my granddaughter dyed eggs???? I couldn't let all that great colored water go to waste, could I??? Nooooooooooo!!)

I used my butterfly die and the single perforated border from my Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set, which I cut three times for the Winnie & Walter - Three Challenge with Shay. I carefully off-set the middle row so it would go off the edge of my cutting mat and not cut the last hole in the row. (I am extremely proud of how well I got them lined up so be sure to say something about that in your comments!!! Ha.)

After I finished my die cuts, I stenciled my background just around the edges with my Winnie & Walter - Scenery: Multi-Faceted Creative Screenings and Distress Ink in Bundled Sage....for the Winnie & Walter - Stencil Challenge with Kelly. (I TOLD you there were a ton of challenges to play along with!!) Then I picked out some scraps of a fresh floral print to put under the die cuts to look pretty and attached them to the underside of my green background.....which went onto a pink card base.

Do you like my wild scissors and crazy dollar store crafting glasses???  lol....  8)

I want to show you a close-up of my butterfly. This unique stamp and die set from Tonic has a two-piece die assembly where you can keep the butterfly attached to your paper and lift the parts for accent or snip its attachments loose so the whole thing can flutter away separately. I wanted to keep it attached for the Winnie & Walter - Off the Page Challenge with Keren.

I had in mind a different sentiment, but guess what!......A prize package from Winnie & Walter came to my door and I switched gears and inked up my brand-new Winnie & Walter - Sketchy Thoughts stamp set!!! Love it!!! (THANK YOU, W&W!!!) I matted the sentiment panel with another scrap of the same floral print and finished the card up with some dazzling sequins that Winnie & Walter included in my package as a sweet surprise. <3 <3 <3

Well.....that was a long post!! Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to read through it. I hope you enjoyed seeing my card and that you will join in with all the Winnie & Walter - 3rd Birthday Bash Challenges and in Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge!!  Have a lovely weekend!!!!

Eyelet and Coffee Valentine

And all this time my doctor thought it was A-fib!!!

Hi, Friends......

I am here with another fun valentine using the new Love From Me Digital Set by the wonderful and talented Julee Tilman at Verve Stamps. This is a free download (only thru Feb. 15, so hurry!) and she has a challenge for you to enter if you use it, too! Yay!! I don't use digis very often, but I am surprised and pleased with how much fun they are!!!. THANK YOU, Julee, for sharing this amazing set!

My background for this card is from a scrap of very ancient DCWV patterned paper. I used Spectrum Noirs to color the coffee cup and covered it with dazzling shimmer with my Wink of Stella pen. Oh, my...I LOVE that sparkle!!! I used a variety of fun puffy hearts from my dear friend and neighbor Kathy Y (THANKS, Kathy!!) and also some iridescent adhesive dots that Carole Jones sent me. (THANK YOU, Carole!) I finished it off with eyelet lace and ribbon from my stash. Fun!!

Thank you for stopping by for a visit. I appreciate your kind comments!! Have a wonderful Valentine's Day. I'll be staying home with my kitties because my dear hubby is on a work trip. Sounds like a Netflix night with chocolates!  So life isn't too bad.... :)

Any Day With You

Hi, Friends......

I am back with another in my series of cards using the new Love From Me Digital Set by the awesomely talented Julee Tilman at Verve Stamps. This is a free download (thru Feb. 15) and she has a challenge for you to enter if you use it, too! Yay!! I don't use digis very often, but I am slowly getting the hang of them. THANK YOU, Julee, for sharing this amazing set!

I used another of my "reject" bubble wrap backgrounds made with distress reinkers on glossy paper. This time I cut it into three pieces with one of the scallop border edge dies from Pink & Main Scallop Waves die set. I love the dreamy cloud-like look. I also glued on some romantic confetti which includes hearts and doves.

Other supplies include:
My Favorite Things Die-namics - Stitched Oval STAX die set
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set

Hope you enjoyed this card!!

LOVE With All Your Heart

Hi, Friends......

You better go get your shades because I am here with another card that uses a "failed" bubble wrap background from Darnell's NBUS challenge last week.....and this one is BRIGHT!!!! I really love these blazing colors, but the "bubble" pattern is MIA so it went in my use-later reject pile to be repurposed in a different capacity. (You are going to see quite a few of these!!! Ha.)

Again I am using one of the fabulous elements from the new Love From Me Digital Set by the amazing Julee Tilman at Verve Stamps. This is a free download (thru Feb. 15) and she has a challenge for you to enter if you use it, too! Yay!! I don't use digis very often, but I totally LOVE these. THANK YOU, Julee, for sharing this amazing set!

Other supplies used include:
Lawn Fawn - Large Stitched Rectangles die set
Spectrum Noir marker to accent the heart
Scraps from my stash of white cardstock and leftover scrap from background below.

The above card is actually the second one of a set I made. Here's the first one:

I was going for a graphic look and thought the "rebellious" angles of the panels looked youthful. Hahahahaha!!!

I used the leftover part of the bright background of this one to make the second card (above) which is more "well-behaved" and has a pink card base for a girly look. I like the top one better but I do like this original one, too. (Chalk it up to my "wild" streak, I guess! lol....)

I hope you enjoyed these cards. Thank you so much for stopping by!!!
