January Rudolph Days - Three Kings Double Embossed

Hi, Friends......

I am here with another Three Kings card to share that I made from this new set I just received as a prize from STAMPlorations. I am entering this one in Scrappy Mo's first Rudolph Days of 2020. Yay!! I used one of my backgrounds made from scraps of patterned and solid paper, which I am now calling my "Strips-o'-Scraps" backgrounds! lol...

I double embossed the background...first with an embossing folder and then with gold embossing powder. Love the rich effect. Perfect for my Magi. I also spattered the background and sentiment panel with some Heidi Swapp Color Shine Spray in Bronze. The splatters actually look gold with a green halo....which worked great for this color palette.

I used the Power Poppy Creative Confetti Sketch as inspiration for this card:

Supplies used include:
STAMPlorations - Three Kings by The Bee's Knees stamp set
Gold and Maroon embossing powders from my stash
Versamark ink
Core'dinations/Darice solid cardstock
Lots of scraps for my "Strips-o'-Scraps" Background
Heidi Swapp Color Shine Spray in Bronze

Hope you liked this card. Be sure to join us in the Rudolph Days fun at Scrappy Mo's!! If you don't miss a month, you are eligible for a special drawing at the end of the year!! So get started now. Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Colorful Three Kings

Hi, Friends.....

I just received this fabulous STAMPlorations - Three Kings stamp set as a prize. (THANKS, Shery!) I rarely tear into a new stamp set right after receiving it, but I love this one so much that I had to!!  :)  I was playing with my artsy backgrounds and chose a particularly colorful one to do some simple line stamping of these Magi. This piece was leftover from a sprayed background I made for this Laurel Burch card.

My starry background was one I made a few months ago when I was using gesso for this project. I had some leftover that I didn't want to throw away.....so I splattered it over several colors of dark cardstock. This is one of the black ones. I added a sprinkling of gold star confetti to the sky, also.

Supplies used include:
STAMPlorations - Three Kings by The Bee's Knees stamp set
Versafine ink in Onyx Black
Leftover backgrounds from my stash....one sprayed with different colors of Dylusions sprays and one splattered with gesso
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set (for background panel)
Gold star confetti from my stash
Core'dinations/Darice solid cardstock

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed my artsy and non-traditional colored Christmas card. I liked this one so much that I made two of them to get my stash replenished for next Christmas!

Someone Remembers...

Hi, Friends.....

I'm here to share a bittersweet card. Just a year ago in our community a family lost their pre-teen boy when he took his own life. We were devastated. A friend at church recently suggested we let this family know they are still in our thoughts and prayers as the anniversary date approaches and asked me to make a card for them. I was honored to do this. I hope it can help bring some comfort to this hurting family.

I used what is probably my most favorite sympathy sentiment of any I have ever seen. It is especially perfect for marking the anniversary of a loss. This wonderful stamp is from the Dare 2B Artzy - Prayers 4 You stamp set. I can't say enough how much I love this entire thoughtful set.

Supplies used include:
Dare 2B Artzy - Prayers 4 You stamp set
Distress Ink in Hickory Smoke
Poppystamps - Grand Pine Tree die
Pink & Main Scallop Waves die set
Simon Says Stamp - Falling Snow stencil
Dreamweaver- Embossing Paste
DCWV Patterned Paper
Core'dinations/Darice solid cardstock
White cardstock from an upcycled commercial greeting card back
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set

Thank you for stopping by today. The time you spend looking at my cards and leaving comments means so much me!!

Butterfly - Quatro Fold

Hi, Friends.....

I have a super-pretty butterfly card to share with you today. As most of you know, the wonderful Mrs. A (ValeryAnne) over at the Butterfly Challenge always has some interesting new fancy fold for us to try. This fortnight it was the Quatro Fold, where your card has four distinct folds. She kindly gives us wonderful photo tutorials and sometimes it is something even my limited skill set is able to do!! :)

The challenge theme this time was Butterfly/ies + Q is for: Quatro Fold, Queen Pink (pale pink), Quick Silver, Quinacridone (magenta), Quotes (a butterfly related sentiment), and Quartz Gems. How could I possibly pass up on the chance to use pink AND magenta????

Here's my quatro fold card all folded up:

I used a fancy Serendipity butterfly cut from some glitzy silver holographic paper. It was pretty flimsy so I glued it to the underside of a solid butterfly shape die cut from clear acetate to give it some sturdiness....and so I could lift the wings. I used Tombow Aqua Mono Liquid Glue and it worked perfectly!! To be honest, the holographic paper did not die cut perfectly and there is a place or two on the wings that is missing. I added some quartz crystal rhinestones over those to help disguise them. Shhhhh...don't tell....

Below is an angled shot. You can barely see the transparent acetate holding the silvery butterfly above the solid pink die cut that I stamped with the same fancy pattern as the holographic die. I used gray for a shadow effect. It also helps disguise the imperfect holographic diecut.

In this next shot the card is partially unfolded. You can see a bit of craft velcro that I used for holding the card closed.

Here's the inside with a stamped butterfly and sentiment from a sweet Technique Tuesday butterfly stamp set. I hope that sentiment qualifies as a quote. It came with the set. I matted the sentiment panel with some of the same patterned paper I used on the front of the card. I positioned it so that a short personal greeting could still be written below it. The side panels also could be written on, if desired.

Supplies used include:
Technique Tuesday - Take Flight stamp set
Versafine ink in Smokey Gray
M&C Boutique - Large Circle Frame die set
Impression Obsession - Serendipity Floral Butterfly stamp
Impression Obsession - Serendipity Floral Butterfly die
Impression Obsession - Serendipity Solid Butterfly die
Dollar Store holographic paper in silver
Clear acetate from stash
Tombow - Mono Aqua Liquid Glue
DCWV patterned cardstock
Quartz crystal rhinestones from stash
Tombow - Hook and Loop Tabs (retired)
Core'dinations/Darice solid pink cardstock

Thank you for stopping by today. Hope you liked this card. The fancy fold was really quite easy and I love the look of it. Thank you, Mrs A., for the great tutorial!!

Babushka Doll Birthday Card & Tag

Hi, Friends.....

I am here with a sweet and simple card and tag set I made for a young girl's birthday. In my "partially made cards and idea box" I found some scraps of this Babushka Doll (also called Matryoshka Dolls) patterned paper from an old MAMBI stack that I had previously paired up with this aqua and pink paper. It was time to make the card. I had a couple extra dolls from these scraps so I made a tag to go with the card.

I mostly always diecut a tag shape out of the lower layers of cardstock on my cards that will be obscured by the upper layers. It saves on weight and bulk and I get a free tag.....(which I rarely use!!! Ha.) This time I knew I would use it with one of the spare dolls.

I dry embossed the backgrounds of both the card and the tag. I forgot to gently mist the card background beforehand and some of the design cracked here and there. No matter......I sanded the entire thing to make everything match the white "broken" places. Yay....I love easy fixes!!

The wee sentiment on the tag is from a precious little CTMH set Karen Ladd sent me a year or more ago. (THANKS, Karen!!) It has been on my craft desk to use numerous times since then, but I am so bad to just now be finally getting it inked up. I love the tiny sentiments....just perfect for this tag.

Supplies used include:
Dolls fussy cut from old MAMBI scrap
Tag sentiment: Close to my Heart - A Little Love Petite Perks (retired)
Card sentiment:
Lawn Fawn - Hang in There stamp set
Versafine ink in Onyx Black
Sizzix - TH Texture Fades - Sparkles embossing folder used for card
Darice - Birthday with Dots embossing folder used for tag
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set
Scrap of DCWV aqua cardstock
Core'dinations/Darice solid cardstock
Ribbon from stash

Hope you liked this sweet little set. I love these dolls....so adorable! Thank you so much for stopping by today.

XOXO - Masculine Valentine

Hi, Friends......

I am here with a rather CAS masculine valentine that was inspired by the current MFT Color Challenge palette:

I also used the Tuesday Morning Sketch which I elongated vertically for my card.

I don't know if you can see the swirling stitched details of this lovely die I used or not. The die was a prize from the lovely Susan Hogan of Unstampabelles. (THANKS, Susan!!!) I have another card made with the same die that I will show you soon where the graceful flourishes are more obvious.

I stamped the little tag with an ancient stamp from my stash. Not sure if I or one of my kids picked this up in a grab bag of thrift store stamps or what, but it has been around for a long time and rarely gets used. It was perfect to put on this small tag.

Just a touch of pink and a dark grey card base for the challenge palette!  :)
Supplies used include:
Poppystamps - Heart Breeze die
XOXO stamp from stash
Versafine ink in Onyx Black
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set
Shimmery metallic faux raffia from my stash
DCWV scrap
Core'dinations/Darice solid cardstock

Hope you liked this valentine. I think the grays and deep red make it great for a man. Thank you so much for stopping by!!

House Mouse - Hello Spring

Hi, Friends......

I hadn't played with my House Mouse images for a long time, so I decided to get one out and make a springy card. I don't usually reach for complementary colors, but this sweet image with the chickies and crocuses just called for lavender and yellow.

I used a leftover Easter egg dye background that had very subtle shades of yellow and orange and stamped my image on that. I decided to keep the sky completely uncolored, except for what the background already had on it.

Supplies used include:
Stampendous - House Mouse Designs - Sharing Seed
Waffle Flower - Welcome Spring stamp set
Tsukineko Memento Ink in London Fog
Spectrum Noir markers
Sakura White Gel Pen
Canson - Mixed Media Paper
Sheer lavender ribbon from my stash
Core'dinations/Darice solid cardstock

Hope you liked my fun little card. The Meeces are always so cute!!! Thank you for stopping by.

Chase Those Dreams

Hi, Friends.....

I made a couple of super-simple CAS cards with some gorgeous Dollar Store metallic silver mirror stickers that I've had in my stash for several years....and I haven't used them all yet!! Fortunately, they still stick well.

It was a trick getting these photographed and my shots do not do justice to the super-shiny foil of these amazing images. I have these in mind as girl graduation cards, but they could be for other occasions....or no particular occasion. :)

I used a Unity stamp for the inside sentiments.....that I think is esp appropriate for graduation or some other launching type of occasion. "Don't follow your dreams....CHASE THEM."

Supplies used include:
Dollar store silver foil stickers
Unity "Don't follow your dreams, chase them" from Wish with Your Heart (KOTM August 2014)
Versafine ink in Onyx Black
White cardstock

Hope you enjoyed my cards today. Thank you so much for your kind comments!

Kitty Hello There

Hi, Friends.....

Raise your hand if you are trying to use up bits and pieces of things from your stash during 2020........yep, same here!! I am determined to do that this year. Some cards won't be spectacular as others, but the satisfaction I will have of using things will be reward enough. Not ALL of our cards have to be masterpieces!!

I love pink and black together.....reminds me of those candy-coated licorice candies....can't think of the name of them, right now....but YUM!!....I love black licorice!! I had some sweet little kitty puffy stickers out on my craft desk for kid birthday cards and pulled out my pink and black scraps. I also noticed this inky "Hello There" speech balloon that had been in my stash for ages. That might work....somewhere!

I am following the current MFT Sketch Challenge for this card:

Here's what I came up with:

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - Sketchy Thoughts stamp set
Versafine ink in Onxy Black
Winnie & Walter - Sketchy Thoughts die set

Holiday Cheer

Hi, Friends....

I got brave and tried something different for me with a new stamp set that I picked up on Christmas clearance. I rarely attempt cards that have cute little figures stamped, colored, and fussy cut and put into a scene of my own making. (Now I remember why!!! lol....)

This relatively simple card (I actually made two of them) took me waaaaaaaaaaaaay longer than it should have. Hats off to all you talented crafters who make this style of sweet card all the time, but in my opinion the length of time it takes to make a card should NOT exceed my life expectancy!!!  Hahaha...  (Now please excuse me while I retreat back to my familiar clean and layered style....lol)

I followed the current MFT Color Challenge:

I am fairly pleased with how my card turned out for my attempt at this style.

Supplies used include:
Create Your Holiday stamp set
Tsukineko - Memento ink in Tuxedo Black
Ultra-Fine and Fine point Sharpies
Spectrum Noir markers
White Gel Pen for highlights
Pink & Main Scallop Waves die set
Simon Says Stamp - Falling Snow stencil
Dreamweaver- Embossing Paste
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set
Lots of scraps of white cardstock!
Core'dinations/Darice solid cardstock

Hope you liked my sweet winter scene. I am also linking this up to Jo's Christmas Kickstart Challenge: Penguin Parade. It is open all month, so you have lots of time to find the penguins that are hiding in your stash and get them inked up.  I hope you will join us!! Thank you so much for stopping by today!!
