Dino-Mite News!!!

"Oh, cat: I'd say, or pray:  bee-ooootiful cat!
Delicious cat!  Exquisite cat! Satiny cat!
Cat like a soft owl, cat with paws like moths; jeweled cat, miraculous cat!
Cat, cat, cat, cat."

Hi, Friends.....

I am here today with a fun card I made with my first Mark's Finest Paper stamps!!!  Yay!!!  They finally arrived!  This is for a young man who has a new baby sister....hence the Dino-mite News!  It fits well with the FOSTV - Card for a Child Challenge.  I used the MFP - Dino News set for this.  (THANKS, MFP!!!)

http://www.djkardkreations.com/2014/09/nbus-challenge-2-here-we-go.html

Since these super-cute stamps are brand-new.....unused....this card qualifies for Darnell's NBUS challenge, too.  Your NBUS doesn't have to be old....and you still have plenty of time to enter along with the rest of us!!  Did I mention a ton of great prizes???  :)

My T-Rex is stamped and heat-embossed on some patterned cardstock from the DCWV Kidosaurus stack.  The background is still more of what I salvaged from my failed attempt at the Distress Inks on cling wrap technique.  Ha. You are going to see this pop up here and there until I use it all up!!!  :)  I liked the mix of blues and greens  that I ended up with on this piece......after repeated spritzings with water and laying it on watercolor paper to transfer the excess ink off!!!  Eeek!   I used black Staz-On to stamp my greeting onto the glossy background.  The scalloped border is from GCD Studios and the ribbon was a thrift store find.  :)

I am trying to keep this post short, so I will do my new-follower introductions on my next post, when I can do it properly.

Hope you like my card!  Have a dino-roaringly wonderful week!!

CURRENT CAT UPDATE:

I haven't written a cat update for a long time......been too busy with Little Peach and other matters, I guess.  When my daughter's family ended up moving in with us, they brought 2 adult cats and 3 kittens......these are in addition to the 20 we already had!!  The babies are so sweet and are growing fast!!  The inside old-lady kitties, Shy-Cat (she's the one on my header) and Aliyah, have done remarkably well adjusting to the little aliens.  Even Othello hasn't freaked out and is becoming buddies with Caspian.
Top to bottom (sort of):  Brian, Caspian, and Judith.  Caspian has the "best spot" in between his warm littermates!

I snapped this picture yesterday of the three kittens all nestled together on my bed with a quilt and fuzzy robe.  That lavender fuzzy robe has comforted untold numbers of kitties over the many years I have had it!  So precious!!

  1. 20 cats and then 5 more! I wonder what they make of your T-Rex. Thanks for sharing this with us your cute card celebrating the baby news.

    1. Well, a real T-Rex would terrify them, of course, but paper ones they consider prey items to destroy. Ha.

  4. Yay!! Now we get to see how you use those MFP stamps and I must say that you got off to a dynamic start!! Hah! That cling wrap background is way too good to throw out so I'm glad that you plan to use every single little sliver! Believe it or not I don't have one single dinosaur stamp so this set looks like a must-have for kids! Your Staz On sentiment on the glossy paper looks 100% nicer than mine always do because I just cannot keep the stamp from slip sliding all over the place when I use Staz On and glossy...argh!
Love your kitty update as well. That tangle of kittens just makes me want to grab them and cuddle!

    1. This dino set is a nice one with several images. I definitely suggest going for it when it is offered on one of the challenges. I think my Staz-On pad is a little dry.....that's why it didn't slip around! It will very successfully slip 'n' slide my stamps around again when I finally reink it. Ha.

That tangle of kittens gets into tangles of mischief sometimes. A couple weeks ago, poor little Judith got ensnared beneath a chair that had a network of twine holding the springs inside. She was caught by the neck and if my son hadn't heard her high-pitched squeals, she might have perished. In order to access her, the chair had to be tipped which tightened the cords around her neck. By the time, my hubby and son cut her weak and limp body loose, I feared the worst. But she was okay......VERY SHAKEN and markedly subdued for the rest of the day, but okay. There are no apparent lingering effects. Whew!!!

  6. Fantastic card for the new big brother!! I'm sure he will love it. I really like the background you created for this. I do not know that technique, but I want to learn!! Thank you for sharing with us at DRS Designs this week.

    1. Here's the link for Lis's wonderful Cling Wrap Background technique:
      mfpspeedytv.ning.com/page/cling-wrap-background

My problem was (I think) that I added too much ink and my glossy sheets were way too dark and the ink was thick. So I spritzed with water and laid my glossy paper on watercolor paper repeatedly to remove the excess ink. Now I have millions of pieces of watercolor paper with pale hues and quite a number of glossy sheets to find a use for!!! Ha.

Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet words!!
