"A meow massages the heart."
-------Stuart McMillan
I just happened to have one with this beige cardstock and some peach paper that I had run through a crimper with a subtle star pattern on it. Yay!
I stamped the MFP Lily of the Valley image from the set of that same name in Memento London Fog ink on watercolor paper and painted it with my watercolors. I wanted to put a gray wash around the image so the white flowers would show, but I am afraid that gray didn't turn out as well as I wanted. I will keep practicing. :)
I put a bit a yellow paint in the middles of the individual flowers, but it didn't show up too well. I wanted more yellow for the challenge, anyway, so I used my yellow Sakura Glaze gel pen to make the centers more visible. Then I also added the little yellow rhinestones. Somehow, the flowers still weren't quite right, so I also added a bit of glitter gel pen to the centers. I like how they turned out. The sparkle echoes the little rhinestones...or is it the other way around??? Hopefully, you can see the shine in this angled photo.
Hope you liked this simple little card. Do you do "card starters" similar to what I described? What other things help you save time and use scraps???? Please tell me in your comments!
Have a lovely rest of the week!!!

Lovely card. Love the card layout you used and your colouring is beautiful. The glitter gel definately did the job :-) And no, unfortunately I'm one of those crafters that start from scratch every time I make a card and agonize about what papers go together for the best look. You obviously have an eye for this because your papers are lovely and go beautifully together.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in the fun at Hiding in My Craft Room.

Thanks, Lena!! My card LO looks like a sketch, doesn't it? I will have to remember this plan because I really liked it, too! I know what you mean abt agonizing over what papers to use. It usu takes me longer to choose the papers than to make the card!! Thank you so much for stopping by.

How pretty your card is, Janis! And wonderful color choices, especially with that glaze pen enhancing them! (Thank you for your kind response on my blog recently.
ReplyDeleteI was not sure if the health issues should be shared or not, but since my internet circle of friends is my link with the outside world, I didn’t want any misunderstandings to crop up. Thank you so much for your friendship.

Simply beautiful Janis! Having "card starters" has never occurred to me! That does make a lot of sense and I will be doing that quite soon. Thank you for the great tip and for sharing on this weeks Artistry Challenge! Be sure to come back this Saturday or Sunday to vote for your favorite two cards. :) Melissa - Vandicrafts

Janis, this card is beautiful! I love that you used the gray ink instead of black, which gives it a softer look...and that gray wash around the flower looks wonderful! I like the idea of card starters and may have to do that sometime when I'm sitting around and wanting to craft, but lacking the energy to actually make a card! I certainly have lots and lots of patterned paper scraps that need a home and that would be a good use for them. That little bit of glitter gel pen in the flower centers adds just the right touch!
ReplyDeleteEeeek!! I can't believe how behind I got on replying to my commenters!!!! Thanks for your sweet words. I need to do some more starters with Christmas colors on them......I live in scraps-R-us, you know! Ha.
