Let it Snow Penguin and Mouse Friends

Hi, Friends......

Are you like I have stacks of ancient but cute 12x12 patterned paper with designs that are a bit too big for a standard A2 card?  I love this adorable DCWV penguin, but the banners that embellish him are large. I had some stray envelopes that fit a 5x7 card.....and that turned out to be just the right size for this happy little fellow and his tiny mouse friend.....who better watch out for the kitty in the meme at the top! :)

I had a little extra uncovered space at the bottom of my card base,

so I added some glittery washi tape. I put a strip on the envelope to coordinate as well. I was inspired by the MFT 2019 Camp Create Day 5: Glitzy Glitter Challenge, so I also smoothed some glitter glue on my snowflakes.

(Please vote "yes" or "no" in the comments as to whether you think I will EVER use up these very strange Dollar Store snowflakes that include 7-pointed flakes in the assortment!!! I estimate that I still have roughly 50 left....unless I discover another little baggie of them hiding in my stash somewhere!!! Groan....I am determined, though!)

Supplies used include:
Inkylicious - Seasons Greetings x4 stamp set
Versafine ink in Imperial Purple
DCWV patterned paper
Scraps of cardstock from my stash for sentiment panel and mat
Washi tape
Strange Dollar Store snowflakes
Glitter glue in silver

Hope you like this sweet penguin card. Maybe it gives you some ideas for quick cards with hard-to-use designs. Not all our cards have to be masterpieces. I love the challenge of using old stash that I have on hand and accenting it with fun embellishments. Thank you for stopping by!!!

  1. Cute and lovely, it makes me smile! :) Love the penguins and the sparkling washi tape added!

  2. Ooh its absolutely adorable! xxx

  3. This is so adorable, and I think I would probably have just gone ahead and squeezed that penguin onto a regular sized card anyway, haha! I have a DCWV 12x12 Christmas stack that has several designs similar to this in that the motifs are really large. I'll have to take another look at them to see if I can scraplift your idea for quick and easy. As for those 7 pointed snowflakes, I say use those puppies proudly! As you know, I never even noticed that they had too many points when you first began using them. I am obviously not a crystallogist (and yes, I had to look that up!)

  4. So cute with the penguin and I like the papers you used. I vote Yes that you will somehow figure out how to use up the snowflakes.

  5. I'm voting 'Yes' on the snowfkales, Janis! Love your card and what a clever way to use that 12 x 12 papers. I have quite a few that need a second look - thanks for the inspiration. Thanks for playing along again at The Christmas Kickstart Challenge and for all your support with this little venture, Jo x

  6. Ha ha, well, they say every snowflake is unique!! Very cute. Thanks for joining the fun at The Christmas Kickstart Challenge. Hugz
