Create a Life You Love

Hi, Friends.....

I am here with my first post of the day.  I will be back later (if all goes as planned!) with a Unity Friends with Flair card, too.  Right now I am sharing a technique challenge card for MFP - Speedy Fox & Friends - Resist on Designer Paper. You know me and heat embossing, right?  Can you believe I don't think I had ever done clear embossing on patterned paper for an emboss resist????  I've done it with colored ink and/or colored powders, but never clear with clear.  Well, I had a blast playing around with it.  I wish I'd had time to make more cards for this challenge!!

I used a Viva la Verve Sketch to help me get started on this card:

I went with beach tones and used some lovely shell images from the MFP - Silly Shells stamp set for my emboss resist.

I stamped the images using Versamark and heat-embossed with clear powder on some tan patterned paper.

Then I sponged around the images with Distress Inks - Salty Ocean, Rusty Hinge, and Walnut Stain.  So fun!!!

It's hard to see but I also used my Hero Arts - Pattern Stripes background stamp on the horizontal panels.  I stamped it repeatedly using Simon Says Stamp Khaki ink.  The effect is subtle, but I love the depth it adds!!!

Using a doily for a pattern, I cut a scalloped circle out of some wonderful dotted burlap from the DCWV Printed Burlap Stack.  This stuff is great.  The burlap is bonded onto the paper, so no fraying!!!  Sometimes I want the frayed look, but sometimes I'm afraid not.  Ha...just had to say that!!  LOVE this texture!!!!

Okay, I know you are going to ask where I got the sentiment.  Ack!!!  It was loose in my stash cut from a page I already used.  I will look for the rest of the stack and edit this to add the info.  I like the saying and it seemed like it worked with the rest of the card theme.  Do you think so?  All the other pieces (except burlap) on the card front are snippets and scraps, too.  :)

Well, that's it for right now.  Thank you so much for stopping by.  I hope to be back with my Unity card later today.
