MFPSS CAS Birthday

Hi, Friends....

I am here with a CAS birthday card to share for the Mark's Finest Papers CAS Challenge this week.  Clean and Simple is a bit difficult for me but my "put on more stuff" urges were somewhat appeased this time with heat-embossing and sponging.  :)

Looks kind of like Washi tape, but it is masked and sponged.

I used three different MFP sets: the deer is from Crisp Winter, the leaf is from Halloween Selections, and the sentiment is from North American Woods.

I first masked off my kraft cardstock leaving a 1" strip which I sponged with various Distress Inks for an autumny look.  Then I stamped the leaves with Versafine ink in Vintage Sepia.  Since I wanted to heat emboss my deer, I used my heat gun to dry the area before stamping the deer image with Versafine in Onyx Black.  Then I covered it with clear powder to heat emboss.

Much to my surprise, although the Distress Ink had dried thoroughly, the leaves had not and so the clear powder stuck onto them, too, and they got heat embossed with the deer!  That was the effect that I wanted, but had given up the idea.  lol...

Next I stamped the sentiment with the same black ink and heat embossed it with the same clear powder.  I mounted the card front on a black card base to finish it all up.

As with many of my cards, it doesn't matter too much what color the base is because I write a personal note on a sticky pad and put it inside the card.  That way the card can be reused if the recipient desires.  I also include an extra blank envelope to make reusing easier.  :)  I have gotten such nice comments from people at church saying they love that they can send the card to someone else.  For our anniversary in July, someone sent us back an anniversary card I had given to her and her husband.  I was thrilled because it was one of my favorite anniversary cards I'd ever made!  <3

Hope you enjoyed this card and I hope you will join us over at Mark's Finest Papers for their super-fun weekly challenges!

Butterfly Plus K is for Kraft Card &/or Kaleidoscope

Hi, Friends......

I am here with my usual last minute entry into Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge, where this time she asks us to use butterflies along with a kraft card base and/or a kaleidoscope effect.  My take on the kaleidoscope effect was using a brilliant autumn-colored Gelato background I had lying dormant in my stash from several years ago and using my Waffle Flower - Doily Circle die with white cardstock.

This fabulous magenta butterfly made of feathers is from a thrift store grab bag.  LOVE!!  I think it goes great with the bright and wonderful autumn colors.  My sentiment is from the Altenew - Label Love stamp set.  Looks like label maker tape, doesn't it?  So fun!  I stamped it with Versafine ink and heat embossed it with clear powder.  I put it all on a kraft card base as suggested by Mrs. A.

I adore how this card turned out and I hope you like it, too!!!  Thank you for stopping by and for leaving your sweet comments.  You make my day!!!

Purr-fect Friend

Hi, Friends.....

I am here with a sweet card with an adorable image that I have been meaning to color for the longest time.  I had it all stamped and ready to color, but hadn't got to it.

Then I saw the irresistible inspiration on this week's Papercrafter's Corner - Magazine Monday challenge and knew I needed to use it!!

I colored my image with Distress Ink Markers scribbled on an acrylic block and picked up with my waterbrush.  I am much more comfortable coloring that way than by using my markers directly on the paper!  I don't have all the marker colors, so I used my Distress Ink pads the same way for the red and gray.

I used my Pink & Main - Scallop Waves die set to make a whimsical border on the cute apple patterned paper.  It reminds me of a stylized fall leaf.  My sentiment is from the My Favorite Things - Cat-itude stamp set and stamped in Versafine Onyx Black.  The image panel and mat are die cut with My Favorite Things Die-namics - Stitched Square STAX die set.

Hope you enjoyed seeing this little gal and her kitty friend.  Reminds me of my granddaughter!!  Awwwww....

Thanks so much for stopping by!!!
