Happy Easter

Hi, Friends.....

Happy Easter to everyone!!! (A little early since I am posting this on Saturday, but I might not get a chance tomorrow.....also Orthodox Easter isn't for another week!)

My crafty pal, Karen Ladd, sent me this super-adorable Easter stamp set and I am totally in love with it. (THANKS, Karen!!) Along with a bunny and some chickies, it has the sweetest little girl carrying an Easter basket with a Bible in it....very rare to see in stamp sets!!  I am so thrilled to have this precious set in my collection.

I used markers and colored pencils on this sweet scene.  I'm not the best colorist, so you will have to bear with my limited abilities as you enjoy my card.

See the sweet little Bible in the Easter basket?  LOVE!!
Supplies used include:
Prima - #545086 Celebrate Jack and Jill (Easter set)
Tsukineko - Memento Ink in London Fog
Spectrum Noir Markers
Prismacolor Pencils
Darice - Oblong Doily embossing folder
Mark's Finest Papers - Hoppy Easter stamp set (retired)

Commemorating on this Good Friday the work of Jesus Christ on the cross to forgive sins and give eternal life to all who believe.

Hi, Friends......

I am here on Good Friday with a card to share that I made some time back and never got blogged! I used a wonderful cross embossing folder that I had inked with distress inks and then layered over a few die-cuts. It's very simple, but I love the subdued tones.

Love how this cross includes uplifting faith words that are embodied in Christ's sacrifice and resurrection.
Supplies used include:
Darice - Faith Words in Cross embossing folder
Distress Inks
Canson - Mixed Media Paper Spiral Bound Notebook
Inspired by Stamping - Fancy Labels 3 Dies
DCWV and K&Co. patterned paper and glitter cardstock scraps

He Cares About You

Hi, Friends......

Here's my last entry into this fortnight's Butterfly Challenge, where I went a little crazy with blue and white!! :) I totally loved playing with that D is for Denim Blue color from Mrs. A's Butterfly Wheel.

I used a leftover scrap of pre-embossed paper that I had watercolored a long time ago and teamed it up with a lovely sentiment from Dare2BArtzy. I think I will put this in my stash of sympathy cards, which is unfortunately looking a little bit thin lately.

Supplies used include:
Dare 2B Artzy - Prayers 4 You stamp set
Versafine ink in Majestic Blue
Butterfly sequin
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set
DCWV cardstock scraps from stash
Core'dinations/Darice solid cardstock

Thanks for taking a peek at my card. I appreciate you taking the time to come visit my blog!!!

Happy Birthday - Blue & Orange Butterfly

This is a bit how I feel!!  It is not unusual for us to get some snow in April, but it still seemed wrong for the ground to be white this morning!!!

Hi, Friends......

I got inspired by Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge with the D is for Denim Blue and Dark Orange and found this pretty tag in my stash that my crafty friend, Kitty, had sent me. (THANKS, Kitty!!!) It was perfect to use with these colors! I don't often use complementaries, but I like this bold combination as a fresh springy look with blue and white.

Supplies used include:
Butterly/floral tag from Kitty
Lawn Fawn - Hang in There stamp set
Versafine ink in Majestic Blue
Doodlebug - Mini Doilies

Happy Birthday - Layered Blue & White Butterfly

Hi, Friends......

I am here with a fresh spring butterfly card to share with you. I followed one of the color selections for Mrs. A's Butterfly Wheel this fortnight: D is for Denim Blue. I absolutely adore the clean look of just blue and white together. Reminds me of the tangy smell of laundry fresh off the line on a brisk spring day.....mmmmmm.....nothing better!

I have a ton of really pretty patterned paper in my stash that often sits unused. This background piece really spoke to me, so I went with a super-simple design that can be easily replicated for numerous occasions with different patterns, colors, stamps, and dies. I love how it turned out!!

Supplies used include:
Serendipity - Floral Butterfly stamp and die set
Lawn Fawn - Hang in There stamp set
Versafine ink in Majestic Blue
Various DCWV patterned paper and solid cardstock
Core'dinations/Darice solid cardstock

Hope you like my pretty card today. Has spring arrived at your house? If not, hopefully soon!!! Thank you for stopping by.

Seriously the Best

Hi, Friends......

I am back with a sunny, springy card to share today. We have been having anything but warm sunny weather here lately. We've had tons of rain and this morning the ground is covered in snow. I definitely need something completely cheery and bright.

I followed the same sketch that has been inspiring me lately from the Stick it Down April Card Sketch Challenge......and did more stash-busting.

I used another of my embossed layered backgrounds and a border strip from a package I have had around for a long time. My sentiment panel was one from my stash. I layered up a bunch of flowers to add some sunshine to the design.

Supplies used include:
"You are seriously the best" from Never a Dull Moment SMAK Sept. 2012
Prima - Wildflower Mix
Want 2 Scrap - Adhesive Pearls
Want 2 Scrap - Adhesive Rhinestones
Various scraps from my stash for making background
Darice - Interlocking Circles embossing folder
Core'dinations/Darice solid cardstock

Hope this happy card brightens up your day if you are having gray skies!!! Thank you for stopping by.

I used an adorable snowman die set I won some time ago from the Lovely Di over at Pixie's Snippets Playground (THANKS, Di!!) and, naturally, I used all scraps for this card (including the background, but excluding the card base). I even added some birdies and seed. Awwwwww......so cute!!!

Supplies used include:
Echo Park - Snowman #2 die set
Pigma Micron Black Pens set of 8 (I used the 01 to color in the smile in the embossed holes.)
Memory Box - Cheery Cardinals die set

Versafine ink in Onyx Black
Clear embossing powder

Perfect Peace

Hi, Friends.......

I am here with another stash-buster card for the Stick it Down April Card Sketch Challenge.

I already had this background panel of patterned paper with the appropriate vertical strip, as the sketch requests. I also had this sentiment panel......that had been rejected long ago because the words were just sooooo very light. (Of course, I didn't throw it away......as though I EVER throw ANY thing away!!! Ha.)

So I truly didn't know if this card was going to work at all because of that barely visible sentiment. I liked how pretty it was, but I knew it would easily get overwhelmed by much of anything else on the card. Initially I put *only* that sentiment panel on the background panel of the card....but it was too bleak.

So I got playing around with some flowers in pale neutral tones to see if I could make it better. Oh, my goodness......I LOVED what I was seeing. I am so pleased with how this turned out. Do you think the flowers overpower the pale sentiment too much?????

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee because he trusteth in thee."  Isaiah 26:3
Supplies used include:
Clear Dollar Stamps - Scriptures of Peace stamp set (retired)
Shimmer embossing powder (not sure which ink I used.....too long ago!)
Verve - Sprightly Sprigs die set (retired)
Distress Inks in Walnut Stain and Bundled Sage
Prima - Wildflower Mix
Prima - Wildflower Mix in White
Want 2 Scrap - Adhesive Pearls
Scraps of DCWV and K&Co. paper and cardstock
Fiskars decorative scissors

Thank you so much for taking a look at my card. I hope you enjoyed it.  Maybe it will encourage you to take a second or third look at some of the rejects you still have hanging around in your stash!

I Wait for the Lord

We haven't had snow recently (although the forecast has some flakes mentioned), but it is still chilly and not all the snow on the north side of the house has melted quite yet.  Spring.........where ARE you??????

Hi, Friends......

I'm back with another stash buster card for the sketch challenge
over at Stick it Down April Card Sketch Challenge. I already had the pretty purple and floral paneled front for this card in my stash and stamped up a fresh sentiment for a topper and put it on a card base using this sketch:

The Christian Health Cost Sharing group I am a part of encourages us to send cards to ailing members. This one, with its pretty spring flowers, will be nice to send to a lady.

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set
Verve - New Mercies stamp set
Versafine ink in Spanish Moss
Scraps of DCWV and Core'dinations cardstock from stash

Hope you liked my card. I will be back with more using this wonderfully versatile sketch!!

Friends Forever

Hi, Friends.......

I am here today with a sketch card. A few months ago I discovered a wonderful sketch challenge blog called Stick it Down and have participated once or twice in their challenges since then. This month they have a simple card sketch that just so happens to be one that I have used many, many times over the past number of years, although not necessarily as a part of challenges.

Here is their simple design for April --------->

I have several cards that I will be blogging and entering in this challenge. Every one of them is a stash-buster...since I put them together from backgrounds and panels I already had on hand ready to use. This first one uses a double embossed background, a simple ribbon for the side panel, and a sweet sentiment panel from a partial pack I found at a thrift store for only a dime. No kidding!! The little spring flower came already attached to the panel. Sweet, huh? I kept this one very simple to let my background shine!

Supplies used include:
Darice - Interlocking Circles embossing folder
Versamark ink
White Sparkle embossing powder
May Arts ribbon
Sentiment panel from thrift store
Core'dinations/Darice cardstock

Hope you liked this simple but pretty card. It felt good to use some things that had been sitting in my stash for literally a number of years!!!

Foxy Happy Birthday

Hi, Foxy Friends......

I am here with another forest friend card. I was rummaging through my stash and found a couple of these fox images that I had previously rejected....but had saved anyway. To be honest, the heat embossing wasn't perfect, but it wasn't terrible either. I stamped over this one with a wood-grain stamp to make the irregular embossing less noticeable and found him to be completely acceptable after all. Hooray!!

My crafty pal Karen will recognize this fox as "Speedy Fox", an old Mark's Finest Papers image. She and I used to frequent their challenges and we actually "met" through them, before they sadly went belly up. I still have a number of their sets, but rarely pull them out. However, I am determined to use them more often and this is a start.

I teamed old Speedy up with another of my layered embossed scrap backgrounds. This panel was heat embossed after I dry embossed it. Love the shiny golden gleam!!!

Supplies used include:
Mark's Finest Papers - What a Fox stamp set (retired)
Versafine ink in Vintage Sepia
Recollections - Woodgrain stamp (retired)
Simon Says Stamp - Khaki ink
Darice - Crackle embossing folder
Gold embossing powder

Hope you like my card and the woodsy looking background. Thank you so much for stopping by today.

Merry Christmas with Stag

Hi, Friends.......

Here again with one last entry into Jo's Christmas Kickstart Challenge with the theme of Delectable Die-cuts.  (There are still a few days left.  I hope you will join us!) This card is made with some lovely diecuts that my crafty pal, Karen Ladd, sent me a couple of Christmases ago.

I knew I had these die-cuts around somewhere, but could never put my hands on them when I was looking for them. I always ran across them later and put them in a safe place where I would for sure remember them....... Hahaha!!  You know what I am saying, right? I lost track of them over and over.

The stag would have been perfect for Jo's Moves on Hooves challenge, but of course I didn't find them until just the other day.  I teamed the stag and tree up with a tag (from the hidden middle of a background panel) and used a background from my pile of layered and dry embossed backgrounds.

WARNING:  This is the somewhat sanitized version of how I make these backgrounds. The version I deleted made me sound psychotic....which might be closer to the truth, but I don't think I want it on my blog!! Ha.
I make these backgrounds from those pesky scraps that fail to scurry safely into the dark corners of my craft room before I grab them and glue them onto cardstock. They tend to get a false sense of security because I ignore them for a long time. They proliferate and pile up and continue to reproduce. I benignly help them along by sorting them by color families so each clan has its own little haven. Then.....WHAM!!!.....out I come with my white craft glue and grab them by the handfuls and glue, glue, glue, glue. It is very satisfying to see a pretty background emerge from all these varied strips of paper that most sane crafters would just toss out.  I usually dry emboss the panel and sometimes also heat emboss it. (See example of that HERE.)  I love the arty collage effect.

Supplies used include:
Stag and Tree diecuts from Karen Ladd (maybe she will tell in the comments what brand they are!)
Darice - Dot Background embossing folder (for tag)
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set (tag and background panel)
Darice - Damask embossing folder (for background)
Yarn from my stash
Vinyl Sentiment Sticker (from Gloria Stengel....a LONG time ago. THANKS!!!)
Core'dinations/Darice solid cardstock
Various scraps for the background

Hope you like my card. I was so glad to find these fun diecuts to use. (You will be glad to know that I finally have them in a safe place so I will know where to find them next time!! Ha.) Thanks so much for stopping by.

Jingle All the Way

Hi, Friends......

I am here with another card for the Winnie & Winnie March Color Combo Challenge. Hope you are not tired of seeing the lovely palette we are using this month, because here it is again.
I've gone a little crazy using these colors because pink and purple are my faves!! 💓💜💓💜💓💜

This time I broke out of the spring color motifs and saw........... Christmas colors!!

I stamped a background using elements from the Winnie & Walter - Comfort + Joy stamp set. I used Distress Inks which don't always stamp perfectly with solid images....but I am really into the arty look of some of the white showing in the bells and stars for a retro, kind of graphic print style look.

I wanted to keep the sentiment very simple to not draw attention away from my fun background, but it had to be bold enough to hold its own, too. I glued two of the purple Happy die cuts together for more bulk and added a single matted "holidays" to it. I think it is just right.

Do you like how I curved the green word phrases around the images???? I love how that turned out!!

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set
Winnie & Walter - In a Word: Happy Cutaway die
Winnie & Walter - Comfort + Joy stamp set
Winnie & Walter - In a Word: Happy stamp set
Distress Inks in Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet, Shaded Lilac, and Peeled Paint
Core'dinations/Darice solid cardstock and scraps

Hope you enjoyed my card in non-traditional colors. It was so fun to get creative and think outside the box with these colors and images. Thank you for stopping by today!!

Happy Easter - Winnie & Walter Color Challenge

Hi, Friends....

I am here with another fun card for the Winnie & Winnie March Color Combo Challenge.  Heather gave us the prettiest palette to use this time:

My card uses the "positive" die cut that was left after I made THIS shaker card. I covered it with Glossy Accents and layered it over my "Easter eggs".....which are actually cut with the Winnie & Walter - Big Balloon Cutaways die set. Hey, I can't help it that I saw eggs in those balloon dies!  It made me want to stencil Easter eggs......so here I am. :)
(My backyard flock of chickens is really going gung ho with their spring laying right now, so I guess I have eggs on my mind!! My hens are mostly blue/green layers.  The eggs are naturally colored, but not naturally stenciled. Breeders need to work on that next! Ha.)

I think W&W has a sentiment that says Easter in their collection, but I don't have it...so I had to use one out of my stash. I dry embossed a pretty floral background. Love how playful and colorful this turned out.

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - In a Word: Happy Cutaway die
Distress Inks in Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet, and Peeled Paint
Ranger - Glossy Accents
Winnie & Walter - Big Balloon Cutaways die set
Winnie & Walter - Scenery: Big Bang Classic Star Creative Screenings
Winnie & Walter - Scenery: Buffalo Check Creative Screenings
Winnie & Walter - Scenery: The Leaf Effect Creative Screenings
Easter sentiment stamp from stash
Clear embossing powder from stash Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set
QuicKutz - Flowers 1 Embossing Folder (retired)
Canson - Mixed Media Paper Spiral Bound Notebook
Core'dinations/Darice solid cardstock

Hope you liked my fun Easter card. I usually make more faith-based Easter cards....and this one will have that on the inside.....but I enjoyed getting creative with these pretty eggs. Thank you for stopping by.

Guess I'll Go Eat Worms.......

Hi, Friends.......

I am here with a card for this fortnight's Christmas Kickstart Challenge with the theme of Delectable Die-Cuts. As is my practice, I try to use neglected stamps (or in this case...dies) for my entries into this fun challenge blog of Jo's. So I pulled out a set of adorable winter bird dies that I've had for awhile but hadn't used yet.

This set is a good one for using scraps and that's exactly what I did. I love the fun layering pieces and the sassy accessories! Isn't Mr. Bird so dapper with the holly sprig in his hat......and so gentlemanly with a worm to offer to his belle?

Can you see the tone-on-tone heat embossing I did on the background for wood-grain effect?

Supplies used include:
Serendipity - Birdies dies
My Favorite Things Die-namics - Stitched Oval STAX die set
Pink & Main Scallop Waves die set

Recollections - Woodgrain stamp (retired)
Versamark Ink
Clear embossing powder
Winnie & Walter - Big Hugs with Evelin T Designs die set
Winnie & Walter - Comfort + Joy stamp set (sentiment)
Versafine ink in Onyx Black
Scraps of solid and glitter cardstock

Hope you liked this sweet card. The little birdies were a lot of fun....even though some of the pieces are eensy-teensy-tiny!! Thank you for stopping by today!!

Happy Everything Shaker

Hi, Friends.......

I am here with another card for the Winnie & Winnie March Color Combo Challenge. I just love this palette that Heather chose for us. Of course it helps that it has pink and purple in it....two of my faves!!! :)

I made two smooshed and swiped backgrounds. One of them I used in THIS card....and I die cut this one to use the HAPPY on a card. Oh, dear.....I got side-tracked by how pretty the negative was and *had* to make a shaker!! lol.... I used beads and sequins for my shaker mix and it makes just the most satisfying rattling sound with all those beads rolling around....lots more noise than just sequins! (Hey, if I am going to make a shaker, I want it to make an impression!!! Ha. )

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set
Winnie & Walter - In a Word: Happy Cutaway die
Winnie & Walter - In a Word: Happy stamp set
Distress Inks in Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet, and Peeled Paint
Canson - Mixed Media Paper Spiral Bound Notebook
Core'dinations/Darice solid cardstock
Acetate from stash
Sequins and Beads-2-Fuse beads for shaker mix from my stash

Hope you liked my shaker with these pretty spring colors!! Thank you for stopping by. I still have the "positive" HAPPY die cut to use.....so I will be back later when I finish that card.

Happiness Grows - Winnie & Walter

Hi, Friends.......

I am here with a card I made for the Winnie & Winnie March Color Combo Challenge. The palettes that Heather chooses for these super-fun challenges are always fabulous, but this one in particular is so very, very pretty. AND it includes my fave colors.....pink and purple! :) Take a look for yourself........

I had so many ideas swimming around in my head that I almost couldn't decide which to try first. I just jumped in by smooshing Distress Inks in the appropriate colors onto an acrylic block, misting gently, and swiping it across some mixed media paper. LOVE!!! Then I did some simple white heat-embossing, colored in some of the hearts to make a spring flowering tree, die-cut and layered it, and then added a few sequins. Done.

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set
Winnie & Walter - Kindness with Evelin T Designs stamp set
