Hi, Friends........

This post is dedicated to kids, and especially to my Little Peach, Andrea Burns, age 3.  I noticed that Simon Says Stamp was having a Summer Vacation: Kid's Challenge for ages 2-16.  Since Andrea's Mommy's birthday is tomorrow (Happy Birthday, my firstborn!), I thought that I would let my granddaughter make her a card and then I could enter it in the challenge.  I keep telling my granddaughter that she can stamp with Grandma when she turns 4, but I fudged a little bit and let her stamp just this time for her card.  I hope I didn't start something!! :)

I wasn't sure at age 3, almost 4, how much she could actually do herself, but she ended up doing a lot of it!  I lined up the paper in my cutter and helped her push down hard enough to connect for cutting.  I inked the stamp and placed it, but she pushed down on it with my help.  She picked out the flowers and leaf.  I dispensed the glue.....lol...  I placed the first two layers of the flower and the leaf and she put on the yellow center.  I mounted it on the card base.

Here is our little Andrea (age 3) watercoloring a background for the card.

Thank you for letting me share this special post.  I'll be back to regular posting and new follower intros next time!!!  Don't forget to enter my DOUBLE GIVEAWAY for your chance to win!!!

Have a lovely day!

Hi, Friends.......

I'm back with my 4th (and last...whew!!) card for the MFP Speedy TV Tutorial Challenge - Distress Ink Patterned Background.  I had the house to myself yesterday was super-inspired by this challenge so I spent the whole afternoon playing with my inks!!!

I loved doing this card because I got to use my DCWV Adhesive Fabric that I had won from DCWV months ago.  (THANKS, DCWV!!)  This stuff is wonderful!!  It is white woven fabric with adhesive on the back.  You can die cut it, paint it, stamp on it (with rubber stamps, not with your feet!  Well, I suppose you could...) etc.

First I was just going to do the regular tutorial technique with it, but I was still trying it with Distress Ink daubers (Worn Lipstick, Spiced Marmalade) and it didn't work at all.....all garbled up.  So I misted it with water and let everything bleed together. LOVE IT!!! (I am crazy for Tie-Dye...and have been since 7th grade....back in ....ummm...a long time ago!) Then after that dried and I finally figured out the right way to do it by following the directions had perfected my technique, I inked up my Darice Fall Leaf Background embossing folder with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and rolled it with my brayer.  I really love how it looks over the tie-dye!

The other cards I entered in the challenge were finished last night, but this one I hadn't put together yet.  So a little bit ago when I was picking out my sentiment I noticed I had stamped and embossed some extras last time around and one looked like it would work.  Yay....  Oh, dear....maybe not.  I was horrified at the stray brown embossing flecks that were on the panel.  Out came my white gel pen.....dot, dot, dot all over each one.  Now to disguise the multitudinous white spots....sponge some Worn Lipstick over the panel.  Not only did it cover the white dots, but it coordinates better with my card, too!!  Yay, after all!!! I finished it all up with another of those Mrs. Grossman's Natural Art clearance finds.  LOVE how this turned out!!!

Whew.......that's a lot of posting for me for one day!  Hope you enjoyed my Distress Ink Background Challenge blitz!!!

Hi, Friends......

I am here with my third entry into the MFP Speedy TV Tutorial Challenge - Distress Ink Background.  As you can see, I was incredibly inspired by this challenge and really went to town making backgrounds and cards!!!

I don't know why I couldn't get a decently focused photograph of this card.  After taking nearly 20 shots that still were only marginal, I realized the ribbon veered westward as though it were heading off on a Pacific adventure!  Off came the ribbon for repositioning.  And the photographic efforts resumed.

Now the ribbon is located along I-5 in Oregon, instead of along Hwy 95 in Idaho, but at least it's not on I-84 in Oregon and Idaho!!!   I'm still not satisfied with the focus, either, but this is the best I could do!  Sheesh...

I again used the very fun tutorial that came with the challenge.  This time I used white cardstock and Distress Ink dauber in Worn Lipstick.  I can't for the life of me figure out which embossing folder I used......this happens when you use daubers instead of ink pads or refills.  Ha!  Still, I think it made a pretty background and I like it.....even though you can't really see it due to my photographic un-talent.  Ha.

Other supplies include:  Mrs. Grossman's Natural Art embellishment, Thank You stamp from my stash, Core'dinations cardstock, pink fabby shabby thrift store ribbon.

Got one more card besides this to squeak in under the wire for the challenge, so that's all for now!

Hi, Friends.....

I have another card for the MFP Tutorial Time Challenge - Distress Ink Patterned Background.  Again, I used the excellent tutorial provided with the challenge.

You can check out the first card I posted for this challenge here.  On this card, I used Distress Ink in Walnut Stain on some tan parchment looking sort of paper I've had in my stash for decades a long time.  This time I used my Darice Henna embossing folder and actually ran it through my Big Shot, too.  I am LOVING this embossing folder.  Expect to see it often!!

I won this wonderful Quietfire - Thank You, Rough-Hewn.  (THANKS, Quietfire!!!)  Isn't it perfect for this card???  LOVE it!!  I stamped it with Simon Says Stamp Soft Navy ink and used some of the coordinating cardstock.  (I love you, SSS!!!!)  I also used another one of the sweet Mrs. Grossman's Natural Art embellishments.  So sweet.....and even sweeter since it was on clearance!!  Ha.  Everything was mounted on Core'dinations kraft cardstock.

Hope you like my card!!!  Be sure to check out my DOUBLE GIVEAWAY post!!!

Hi, Friends......

It has finally arrived!!!  My 100th post and my 50 Follower Double Giveaway!!!!!

Okay, here's the deal.  I was already getting a package of goodies ready for my 50 Follower Giveaway, when I suddenly realized I was also close to my 100th Post.  Well, I couldn't let that pass without a giveaway, too, could I?????  No way!!

So I contacted Trish at Ribbon Roll Control.  You might probably don't remember this, but she sponsored a giveaway for me when I first started my blog.  Can you believe how sweet that was???  She told me at the time she would love to sponsor another giveaway for me, sometime.  So I asked her last week if she'd do that for my 100th Post Giveaway......and she said she'd love to.  Yay!!!

She is giving away one of her wonderful Ribbon Roll Control units in either size (regular or petite) to a lucky winner here.  I have one of these and I L-O-V-E it!!!  The unit holds lots of ribbon with no dowel, so you don't have to take apart the whole contraption to get the roll you want.  The tough clear plastic is super-durable and never feels like it will come apart, even if I hold it by one corner.  The best part.....the cats have left it alone!  Ha. Here's a picture of what you can win (ribbon not included):

So I have TWO GIVEAWAYS!!!!  And you can enter both of them on this very post by leaving a comment.

HERE ARE THE RULES
To enter both Giveaways for my Grab-Bag of Goodies AND the Ribbon Roll Control:

    1.  Leave a comment on THIS post telling me what you like best about my blog.....my cat quotes, my cat pictures, my awful photography, my pretty cards, or my witty repartee.  Ha.
    2.  Extra entry for becoming a follower of my blog with Google Friend Connect, using the thingy in the sidebar.  Leave a comment and tell me that you joined up and what your username is.  If you are already among the 51 elite followers, please leave a post telling me so and what your username is.
    3.  Extra entry for subscribing by email, using the other thingy in the sidebar.  Leave a comment to let me know you subscribe, or already do.
    4.  Extra entry for Following me on Twitter, using still the other thingy in the sidebar.  Leave a comment telling me what name you use for tweeting.
    5.  Entries are open for one week.  All comments must be posted by 11:59 pm PDT on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014.
I apologize, but my Grab Bag of Goodies giveaway is only good for USA addresses.  However, Trish is willing to ship internationally!!  So if you are not in the USA, please let me know that on each of your entries so you can still be in the drawing for the Ribbon Roll Control unit.

Okay, how fun is all that????  Hope you are as excited about my giveaways as I am!!!

Have a lovely day!!!

Hi, Friends.....

I am here again with a big thanks to my new followers who have pushed me over that big 50-follower milestone!!  Be sure to look at the bottom of this post for their introductions.  Also, I have several cards I made and will have a separate post for them, so I will be over the 100 post mark!!!  That means I will have my  DOUBLE GIVEAWAY post up very soon NOW!!  Yay!!  Be sure to be watching for it!!

I am sharing today some cards I made for the MFP Tutorial Time Challenge, which was on making Distress Ink Patterned Backgrounds.  I haven't had this much fun with a technique since I was spraying whipped cream all over the place!!!  Ha!! I must have made 25 backgrounds yesterday with all my new Tim Holtz Distress Ink minis I received in a big JoAnn's order the other day.  Toooooo much fun!!

My background sheet is from DCWV Fiber Natural stack.  I used my Darice Leaf Background embossing folder and Distress Inks in Fired Brick and Spiced Marmalade.  The texture of the fiber paper makes it almost look like I put this through the Big Shot and embossed it, but I only rolled it with my brayer.

The pretty little sunflower embellishment is from Mrs. Grossman's Natural Art and was a JoAnn clearance item.  I bought one of each style they had in the bin and used them on each of my next few cards.  LOVE them!!

The scripture stamp is from an ancient set whose box I my kids lost long ago.  I am thinking it is Rubber Stampede, but not sure.  I heat embossed the verse in gold and mounted everything on Core'dinations card stock.  I tried to keep the card fairly simple so the pretty background would show.  Love how it turned out!!!

Hi, Friends......

I am back with a quick card I made for this week's MFP Sketch With a Twist.  The twist they asked us to use is buttons.  Fun!  I don't use my stash of buttons nearly often enough.  How about you?

Here's the sketch they provided:

I also continued my personal challenge of using the incredibly pretty and fresh monthly color palette from Inspired by Stamping:

My other card using this palette had lots of the aqua and peach, so this time I used lots of white.  I love the clean look!!

I was inspired to make this button balloon card by an adorable card by Kylie Adams that I found on the Cutting Edge Blog Hop.  So cute!!  I immediately knew what I wanted to do with buttons this week!!

I stamped and embossed my little birdie in white and painted with my Gelatos and waterbrush.  I think the little heart buttons were a dollar store find.  Sweet!  The papers are DCWV, including that fabulous burlap-looking one that I just bought.  It's called the Woven Stack and do I love it or what!??!!  Exactly what I needed for some subtle texture on this card!

Here's a close up so you can see my sweet little birdie and the texture.  I love how the birdie's wing is floral patterned.  I tried to echo that with peach butterfly print.
I drew in some balloon strings with a silver gel pen.  I am terrified to do anything free-hand, so please be kind in your comments.  Ha.  :)

I think that about covers my card.  Hope you like it!  Have a lovely week!

Hi, Friends......

I am back with a card that I have been wanting to post for awhile.  When I saw Paulina's Cutting Edge Blog Hop I thought it would be a different sort of one to enter, but I hope it still qualifies!!  This is my second entry into this hop, since I already made and entered a different card on Friday.

Did I mention that there are prizes galore for entrants and commenters???  You better run over there quick!!!

Her rules state that you must use at least one die cut, which I did.  But what I used were a couple scraps from the Sizzix - Labels, Fancy die cut I had used on this Christmas card I posted a couple weeks ago:
I used the corner scraps from the red die cut in this card.

I had the little ornate foiled corners that were the negatives of this cut still lying on my craft table hiding under things and generally making nuisances of themselves.  Too pretty to throw away, but not of any immediate use, either......until I thought of making them into "photo corners"!!  :)

I inked the edges of two of the corners with gold and teamed them up with some glossy and glittery DCWV Botanical Stack paper which is so gorgeous that it didn't need much else for embellishment.

Here's an angled shot to show it better:

I stamped and embossed the sentiment (discontinued from Clear Dollar Stamps) in red and mounted it up on kraft.  I layered that with some glimmery Coredinations gold cardstock....corners cut with decorative scissors, not a die cut.  A simple tiny rose (part of some lovely happy mail from Terri Scott ....THANKS, Terri!!) finished everything off.

Do you like it?  I really love how it turned out.  And perhaps best of all.....all the papers were scraps from other cards (...or failed attempts! Ha.)  Yay!!!  Love it when I can do that!!!

Hey, Everyone......Woo-hoo!!!  I have five new followers!!!  A total of 49, now, and so you know what is right around the corner......

My 50 Follower Giveaway!!!!
AND

Carole Robb Bisson of The Diamond Dragonfly is up next. Carole is the "Encouragement Coordinator" for the Word Art Wednesday Challenge Blog. Hi, Friends......

I am back with a card for this week's MFP Oriental Sketch Challenge.  It's been a few weeks since I entered this challenge so it was fun to get one made.  Here's the sketch they provided:

I also used the lovely color palette that Joanna gave us for the Inspired by Stamping Monthly Challenge.  Aren't those colors totally gorgeous???  Peach and aqua are some of my favorites!!

Here is my interpretation:

My butterfly is from that ancient Rubber Stampede - Victorian Butterflies set that I use quite often.  I embossed it in gold and did the same thing to gild the edges of my other pieces.

I inked the edges of the background paper with some coordinating ink and used some metallic gold embellishments for accent.

Here's an angled shot so you can see all the yummy metallic gleam.  :)

I really love the simple lines of the Oriental challenges with their basic geometrics, such as the rectangles and diamonds in this one.  There is something really peaceful about the simplicity of them.

Hope you have enjoyed my card.  Leave a comment and I will love you forever!!  Become a follower and I will give you a ginormous smile of your very own to take home and feed!!

Hi, Friends.....

I am here with a sweet birthday card for my granddaughter who will turn 4 next month.  (How is that even possible????)  It's unusual (very!!) for me to have a card ready this early, but I noticed the MFP Simple Salutations Challenge was a Paper Doll theme.  They are hoping for people to use their Paper Doll stamps, but (fortunately for me!) they said any doll stamp would be okay.  I searched through all my stamps, and would you believe I only found one tiny doll stamp????  I used it.  :)

I also used a Verve's Mojo Monday sketch from last week:

Here's what I came up with:

The "Turning 4" greeting is from Verve - Geared Up and the little doll is one I got in a thrift store grab bag.  The paper and cardstock are DCWV.  The photo corners are from Scrapbook Adhesives.

I coated some Petaloo flowers with glitter and put sequins here and there on the background paper for some extra festive sparkle, as well as in the flower centers.

I had a lot of fun making this pink glittery card for my Little Peach, but I'm sure she'll be much more interested in what's all wrapped up.  :)

Have a lovely week!

Hi, Friends......

I am here with a card for the MFP FOSTV Challenge - Yellow and Gray.  I also used the sketch from the Inspired By Stamping Monthly Blog Challenge.

Here's the sketch she gave us:

 Here's my take:

The gray and yellow colors immediately brought to my mind clouds and sunshine.  I recently won this Papertrey Ink - Hello Sunshine set from PaperCrafts and Scrapbooking.  (THANKS, PC&S!!) and I knew it would be perfect.  I love this sentiment:  "Wherever you go, No matter the weather, Always bring your own sunshine."  I stamped this with a brand new Memento - London Fog ink pad I just bought.  (Yes, I do actually buy things!!  Ha.)  I can't tell you how much I totally LOVE this ink!!!  I also bought one in Rich Cocoa....actually, I bought two so I can give one away in my 50 Follower giveaway coming up sometime soon.  :) :) :)

I used several different papers in this one:  Crate Paper - Flea Market (a prize from Pumpkin Spice...THANKS, PS!!!), Glitz - Sunshine in my Soul (a prize...THANKS, Glitz!!), Authentique - Blissful (a prize, also....THANKS, Authentique!!) and that dazzling silver glittered paper is DCWV - Twinkle Glints (a gift from my daughter <3 <3 <3 ).

Here's an angled shot so you can see the sparkle and shine.  Other embellishments include:  butterflies from Recollections, a lovely Zva swirl, some thrift store lace, and a few JoAnn dollar rack rhinestones.  Fun!!  Hope you like it, too!!!

Hey, I have another new follower.  That makes 43!!!!
Diana Larson of DL.ART.  I only recently became acquainted with her blog through my pal, Karen L., but it is an a-w-e-s-o-m-e challenge spot!!  She also is an amazing crafter.  You have to look at the out-of-this-world beautiful anniversary bouquet she has up on her blog right now!  Thank you so much, Diana, for your sweet comment on my blog and for becoming a follower!!  This ginormous smile is for you!!!

Hi, Friends......

The above photo of the cats lying on the car looks similar to what mine do all day....except I think the above cats are getting warm from the residual engine heat.  Mine are totally limp from these high temps.....they're like a bunch of dead cats lying about sleeping it off.  I take a cue from them and nap in the heat of the day with Little Peach.  It does help.  I wake feeling considerably cooler.....not cool, mind you....just cool-er.

Today I am sharing a card I made for the MFP Simple Salutations Challenge with an Oriental theme this week.  Am I the only one around that ever uses the boxes of pre-folded solid color cards and envelopes that you see at craft stores???  I LOVE THEM!!  There are a number of brands, but I usually end up finding DCWV or David Tutera ones on clearance at JoAnn's.  They are great for putting together a quick card because the base is all ready.  That's what I used for today's card.

I went with complementary colors today with a pretty piece from the old DCWV Far East stack (discontinued) and choosing a pretty orange and blue K&Co. pattern for my Serendipity die-cut lattice butterfly.  The little greeting stamp is also from Serendipity.  The sheer ribbon was JoAnn clearance.  I love the serene look of this card, even though the pop of orange really stands out.  Do you think it is too much????

That's all for now.  Hope your air is better than our forest-fire fresh Idaho mountain air!!!  Ugh....hate fire season....and I know that a lot of places have it worse than we do here.  Stay safe, everyone.
