BABY - W&W Rerun

Hi, Friends......

Hooray....My still not-quite-right computer is letting me upload pics off my camera direct from my SD card, instead of via USB to the entire camera! Silly me...I didn't even realize I had an SD card reader on my computer. Thank you, James, for helping your old Mom out there!! I will edit last evening's post with a better photo soon!!

March has been so upside-down crazy for me that I haven't participated in any of the challenges that I usually frequent. Since I can post photos again, though, I wanted to squeeze a card in at the last minute for the W&W Rerun #28 - Welcome to the Family Challenge.

I don't own the rerun set for this month, so I drew inspiration from a card from one of the guest stars: Jennifer Trinko. I adore the pink gingham checks on her card, so I made a pink checked quilt background with strips of patterned paper woven together and dry embossed. LOVE!!!

Products used include:
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set (scalloped layer)
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set (tag)
Baby and Little Feet stamps from my stash
Scraps of DCWV patterned paper
Scrap of white cardstock for tag
Darice - Interlocking Circles
Distress Ink - Tattered Rose
Versafine Ink - Smokey Gray
Scrap of crinkle ribbon

Thank you so much for stopping by today.

March Rudolph Days Christmas Card

Hi, Friends......

Did you miss me? Or did you realize that I hadn't posted anything for nearly a month!! lol.... That's okay. I get busy, too! :) Life happens, as they say, and between being sick, trying to get all the prizes mailed for my ATC BD celebration, my 94-yr old Dad taking a bad turn in health necessitating I take an out-of-state trip, my computer dying, and trying to get ready for Easter.....I haven't been very creative.

I did want to get a Christmas card in for Rudolph Days, though, so here it is. (I had to take it with my flip phone which has a lousy camera, so the photo is very poor. Sorry. :( Hopefully, our tech-y friend can get my computer back to normal. But for now, it no longer recognizes my camera, even though the software is still on there. Grrrr.)

I am back with a different photo of this card.  My son helped me figure out how to get my pics directly off the SD card.  :)

(I don't have the energy to tell you anything abt this card, so you will just have to look and wonder what in the world I did. Ha. Maybe I will come back tomorrow and add in the product list at least. :) )
I tried doing all these edits last evening, but my flaky computer lost everything.  :(  So I am trying again this morning!!  Grrr..... "First-world problems", as they say!

Anywaaaaaay........here's a short description of how I made my background.  I dry embossed a thick piece of cardstock and brayered Versamark ink all over it.  Then I heat embossed it with gold, silver and clear powder.

Products used include:
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set
Darice - Ornaments Hung embossing folder
Core'dinations - heavy duty white cardstock
Versamark ink
Silver, gold, and clear embossing powders from my stash
Unity - Far Better Things Ahead
M&C Boutique - Large Circle Frame die set
Silver gel pen
Silver twine and snowflake sequins from stash

Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you like my card. I actually made four of this same design. They each have their own delicious variations in the embossed background. Love that!!!

Hello, Chickadee!

Hi, Friends......

Do you ever look at a theme of a challenge and just get really excited because you have the perfect images for it????? Well, that's what I did for the Mod Squad Challenge this last week....closing in just a few hours!! The theme was "Bunnies and Chickadees".

Chickadees? Are you kidding me? I LOVE these cheery little acrobats that are all over my bird feeders during the late winter snows we have been having. I immediately pulled several chickadee items out to play with. I have been fighting a nasty cold so they lay on my craft desk for days while I moped around in my pj's, sipping hot tea and taking cough medicine and vitamins.

When I revisited the Mod Squad challenge blog yesterday..... I was chagrined to realize I had made a serious mistake. I browsed the gallery of beautiful and creative entries that had already been submitted.....there were lots of bunnies, but no chickadees. Only CHICKS!!!! Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat???? I guess when you hit 60 you no longer realize that when a challenge says bunnies and chickadees....they really mean bunnies and chicks. (sigh)

But you know what.............I went ahead and made a CHICKADEE card. And if they don't like it, they can just delete it. That's my story and I am sticking to it. Ha.

THIS is a chickadee!!!  :)

Several years ago, Karen Ladd sent me some beautiful decoupage papers that included this wonderful chickadee image. (Thanks, Karen!!) I had been hoarding these papers because I love birds so much. That does NOT make any sense at all, but I know my fellow cardmakers will understand the twisted logic!! :)

I fussy cut the chickadee (EEEK!....even around those spindly little legs!!!) and added it to a DCWV cut-apart journaling card which had a flowering branch on it. The branch from the decoupage sheet fit almost exactly over the branch of the journaling card and the colors of the bird and flowers couldn't match better. I think the little bird looks right at home there, don't you?

Supplies used include:
Technique Tuesday - Two Steppin' stamp set
Versafine Ink in Onyx Black
DCWV scraps and an ancient border from my stash
Core'dinations Cardstock card base

Hope you like my sweet and springy chickadee card!

Before I go I would like to show you a couple of wonderful cards that I received for my BD.

From Darnell  <3

This gorgeous one is from Darnell. I love the beautiful shimmery sunrise and white embossing against the kraft!!!

This amazing card is from a dear lady at my church. Her daughter and granddaughters are both cardmakers (but not bloggers) and I am

guessing one of them made it. I missed church because of my cold so I haven't had a chance to ask her about it. You here in blogland might not realize that I play the piano and even compose a song or two now and then. So this lovely piano card is absolutely perfect for me.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog!!! I appreciate your comments so much. If you participated in my ATC Birthday Party, be sure to check out THIS POST to see if you are one of the lucky winners!!!
