DAY 6 (FINAL DAY) - 2016 CAT LOVERS HOP

WORLD CAT DAY - Oct. 29, 2016

http://herpeacefulgarden.blogspot.com/2016/10/the-2016-cat-lovers-hop-is-here.html

Hi, Friends.....

Happy WORLD CAT DAY!!!

Welcome to Day 6, the FINAL DAY, of the 2016 Cat Lovers Hop here at Her Peaceful Garden!!!!   Today, October 29th, is World Cat Day and this is why I chose the last week of October to hold the Cat Lovers Hop.  I will have another Bonus Post today celebrating this special day with some of my favorite cat memes, cartoons, etc.  I hope you will enjoy it.

Hey....maybe I will have another link-up at the bottom of this page.  It won't be for prizes, but if you make a separate World Cat Day post of cartoons, memes, etc....please link it up at the bottom of the page for us all to enjoy!!  (If you have a cat project on your post, though, please ONLY link it up on the main page...not down here.  Thanks!)

I LOVE doing this hop because we have........

The best cat stories:
I can't thank each one of you enough for your participation.  I have so very much enjoyed the cat tales and projects you have shared.  I have laughed and cried along with you at the happy and sad experiences that are necessarily a part of having and losing beloved pets.  I have not had a chance to hop around to all the projects....it might take me a few days, but I WILL visit you!!

The best people:
I have been delighted to see a few special games, features, and giveaways on the linked up projects, too!!  THANK YOU for this special touch that makes our hop something very, very special!!  Cat lovers are some of the kindest, sweetest, and giving people on the planet.  Everyone involved in this hop shows that so very well!!!

The best sponsors. Oh, my!!!:
And.....haven't we had just the most generous sponsors, too????  I am deeply humbled at their continued support and encouragement.  I am just a crazy old cat lady who is a regular alleycat-variety blogger just like many of you.....not on any design teams ever....and these fabulous individuals at these wonderful companies were willing to take a chance and sponsor us!!!  That says TONS about how remarkable these companies are!!!

I hope you have had time to tell them thank you!  I have included links for the social media pages of the featured sponsors on each of the daily posts to make it easy to express your thanks.....so if you haven't sent them each a message yet, feel free to go back to the previous pages to see where to thank them.

Well, I hope you have come ready for one last day of kitty inspiration, kitty games, and chances for prizes because this is the place!!

Remember there are three ways to participate in the 2016 Cat Lovers Hop:

DAY 5 - 2016 CAT LOVERS HOP

This is me in a few minutes when I finally get this blog post finished!!!

********************************

http://herpeacefulgarden.blogspot.com/2016/10/the-2016-cat-lovers-hop-is-here.html

Hi, Friends.....

Welcome to Day 5 of the 2016 Cat Lovers Hop here at Her Peaceful Garden!!!!  Thank you, everyone, for laughing with me on my bonus post yesterday.  I wasn't sure if I should post those crazy selfies, but at 4 am even crazy ideas seem reasonable!  Ha.  Anyway, thank you for indulging me.  Your comments gave me a great chuckle!!!  Well, I hope you have come ready for more kitty inspiration, kitty games, and chances for prizes because this is the place!!

Remember there are three ways to participate in the 2016 Cat Lovers Hop:
1.  Make a cat-themed project (or projects, there is no limit!) and link up over at the main post.
2.  Comment on any or all of the linked up projects at the main post.
3.  Participate in the Daily Game at the bottom of each Daily Post.  (You are currently reading the Daily Post for Day 5.)  These games are usually only open for the day they are posted, but since this is the final Daily Game (but not the final day of the hop!) I will leave it open until comments close on the Main Hop, 11:55 pm Sunday, Oct. 30.  Remember there is a daily prize!

Knitty Kitty Digis

***************************************

First on the list today is a returning sponsor: Graphic 45!!!

Oh, my goodness.....How many of you have G45 papers that you can't bring yourself even to cut??? Same here!!! (although I am trying to do better!)

The sweet gals at Graphic 45 sent me this totally AWESOME Safari Adventure paper pad and chipboard pieces to make a sample card to show you. LOVE that Tiger!!! (THANKS, G45!!!) Unfortunately, I didn't receive it until yesterday, so I didn't have time to make a card for this post. Maybe I'll have time to make one to include with the WINNERS post next week.

I know you are all excited about the idea of winning their prize: a box stuffed with Graphic 45 products!!! Oh, my...doesn't that totally make your heart flutter? (Maybe I just need to take my meds!! lol..)

Please take time to visit Graphic 45 at these social media spots: Blog, Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter. Don't forget to Like, Follow, Share, and Comment with a big "THANK YOU for sponsoring the 2016 Cat Lovers Hop at Her Peaceful Garden!"
Even though the Safari Adventure package didn't get here on time, I still made a sample card with Graphic 45's Raining Cats & Dogs.

I had fun layering the Prima flowers for this card, too!

************************************

My second sponsor today is Knitty Kitty Digis!!!

Knitty Kitty Digis is a new sponsor to the Cat Lovers Hop.  I fell in love with Annabel's Knitty Kitty images when I first saw them at Ike's SUYP Cats Only Challenge blog.  The simple plump shape of her kitties is soooooooo adorable!!  She is donating 3 kitty images of the winner's choice to some lucky participant!  Fun!!
Please take time to visit Knitty Kitty Digis at Annabel's Etsy Store.  Don't forget to say "THANK YOU for sponsoring the 2016 Cat Lovers Hop at Her Peaceful Garden!"
For my sample card, Annabel let me choose a couple of digis to try out.  I got a big chuckle out of this one called "Cone of Shame":

Thank you, Annabel, for this watermark!

One lucky participant in Today's Game will win this prize from Ike's Art.  It's from her new digital stamp set " FLEAZ NAVIDAD " and called "Waiting for Santa".  So precious!!!!

Here's what I made with it:

Here I used another of my double embossed snowflake backgrounds.  I also used my Wink of Stella pen on the tree and the ribbons, but you can't detect the sparkle in this photo.
I hope you have enjoyed my cards using Ike's images this week! I so appreciate her generosity and have been delighted for the opportunity to get more familiar with my Spectrum Noirs!! Hope everyone (especially Ike!) likes how I used her images!!!

Now for the final Daily Game.....All you have to do is tell us your favorite thing(s) about this year's Cat Lovers Hop!!!

Hi, Friends.....

Welcome to Day 4 of the 2016 Cat Lovers Hop here at Her Peaceful Garden!!!!  Did you see my bonus post?  I'm not sure whether to hope you did or to hope you did not!  lol....  Things are getting a little bit loopy over here in my part of Idaho, but I hope you have come ready for more kitty inspiration, kitty games, and chances for prizes because this is the place!!

(You are currently reading the Daily Post for Day 4.)  These games are only open for the day they are posted and there is a daily prize!

Introducing........
THE SPONSORS FOR DAY 4

Art Impressions
and

 ***************************************
Art Impressions Blog
First on the list of sponsors today is Art Impressions!!

Cat Stackers - 4739
Art Impressions is a returning sponsor. They are known for their hilarious stamps...many of them with interactive features. This year they are offering their fabulous Cat Stackers stamp to one lucky Cat Lovers Hop winner!! How fun is this mountain of cats???!!!

I don't personally own this stamp or any of their kitty stamps, so sadly I cannot make a sample card for you, but let's show them how much we appreciate them!!

Please take time to visit Art Impressions at these social media spots: Blog, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and YouTube. Don't forget to Like, Follow, Share, and Comment with a big "THANK YOU for sponsoring the 2016 Cat Lovers Hop at Her Peaceful Garden!"
 ***************************************
Next on the list is Newton's Nook Designs!

Jen at Newton's Nook Designs is another returning sponsor and is one of the biggest supporters of our Cat Lovers Hops!!! She is the first company owner to whom I ever mentioned the possibility of doing a Cat Lovers Hop. She was so enthusiastic in offering to sponsor that it really gave me the boost I needed to get last year's hop organized. I very much appreciate her continued support and encouragement. Did you know that last year she even personally commented on every Newton project in our hop?!!! How awesome is that????!!!!!

Jen is giving a $20 store credit so the lucky winner can choose their own Newton (or other product, but why would you choose anything else from NND???? lol...)

Please take time to visit Newton's Nook Designs at these social media spots: Blog, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter. Don't forget to Like, Follow, Share, and Comment with a big "THANK YOU for sponsoring the 2016 Cat Lovers Hop at Her Peaceful Garden!"

I have a sample card I made from my Newton's Nook Designs - Newton's Book Club stamp set.  I hadn't ever used it before, so I thought this was a good time for it to get inky for the first time.
It's crazy, but this is the first time I have tried using my big 120-piece set of Prismacolors on a card!  I bought this set of when my very talented and artistic daughter was a teenager and she colored a lot with it.  I kept seeing wonderful images colored with them and even bought some of the low-odor paint thinner and Imagine Crafts - Fantastix for "painting" with them (works fab, by the way!!) but this is my first attempt at any of that!!

************************************

DAILY GAME TIME!!!!!
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
MY SHOP The Daily Game is generously sponsored each day by Ike's Art!!!!
One lucky participant in Today's Game will win this prize from Ike's Art.  It's from her new digital stamp set " FLEAZ NAVIDAD " and called "Ai Haz Mizzeltow".  Sweet!!!!
Here's what I made with it:
How did I do on non-coloring a white cat? lol... I was going to use a pale blue outline, but....guess what? I haven't purchased the blue set of Spectrum Noirs, yet.......so that was out! I think aqua works, though. What do you think? I liked the idea of a white kitty on a snowflake background, so I am pretty pleased with how this turned out. Hope you enjoyed seeing it, too.
Now for today's game. It's easy...all you have to do is tell us your favorite kitty coat color/pattern/or breed, if that is easier to describe. (We all know what Siamese looks like!) Also, do you prefer short, medium, or long fur? "Calicos, tabbies, and spotted...Oh, my!!"
This is how to play the game to be eligible for the prize drawing:
1. Leave a comment telling us about your favorite color/pattern for kitties...as detailed above.
2. After you finish posting your comment, fill out your name in the link up below. This doesn't have any thumbnails so no photo needed! You don't even need a blog!!! This is for everyone!!! This link up will close today at 11:55 pm Pacific, October 27, 2016. I will draw the lucky winner from the linkup, so don't forget to do that part. However, I would still love for you to share your favorite kitty color in the comments below, even if you miss the linkup deadline!
I'll go first. My favorite color and pattern is a brown mackerel-striped tabby. I love how there is so much variation in the colors as they go from stripe to stripe. Even the texture is different on the dark and light stripes! I prefer a medium-length coat. My dear sweet Aliyah (on this year's blog hop badge) that I lost recently had the most plush fur....a medium coat that felt soft as a rabbit's.
My favorite kind of cat would hands-down be a Siamese X.....they have that amazing intelligence of their Siamese ancestry, but not as prone to some of the Siamese weaknesses from whatever their other ancestry is. The smartest cats I ever had were part Siamese. My Chaienne (on the blog header) is part Siamese, though her coloration looks nothing like it.
Okay, now it is your turn!!  I am looking forward to hearing your answers!
REMEMBER:  Link your cat-themed projects over on the
MAIN POST.  The link-up below is to enter the drawing for the Daily Game after you comment.  Thanks!!!
BONUS POST: 2016 CAT LOVERS HOP -- too funny not to share!!
Hi, Friends......
It is the wee hours of the morning and I am trying to get my Day 4 post blogged.  I was going to include a pic of Skippyjon "helping" me color my Newton's Nook card....so I started looking at a bunch of the epic fails on "selfies" I took.  I got laughing so hard I decided to share them with you in all their horrible out-of-focus glory!!!  Enjoy!
My son is gone for a few days and Skippy is at loose ends without him.  Guess who is under deadline on blog posts and has to contend with this little handful?!!  The first ones are of Skippyjon trying to play with my Prismacolor pencil while I am trying to color today's card!
Who, me????
Then.....Skippy jumped onto my lap and was climbing all over my shoulders and back while I was trying to color.  I thought it best to stop coloring for a few minutes....so I grabbed my camera.  That's when the fun began!  Just when I thought he'd stay on my shoulder, he'd climb down the front of me!
Here's the Crazy Cat Lady in all her crafting room glory!!!  This photo perfectly captures my frantic attempt to stay ahead of these blog hop posts and my dismay at Skippyjon potentially walking over half-made cards!!!  Hahahahahaha!!!  This is the one that inspired this crazy post!
"I've still got HOW many cards to make for the hop??????"
 Here I am looking a little more composed.....with my hair being unruly and half a cat in the pic.  Still forgot to smile.  But this is what I look like, in case you all wondered!   Look at those nice stacks of paper on the left. :)  You can see my "photography shelf" above the stacks....with yesterday's card still sitting there.  Don't look at the rest of the shelves!  Eeek!  Do you like my pink dollar store reading glasses???  :)
 Got the tail this time.....
 Got Skippy's face and half of mine.  At least I am smiling in the half of my face that I managed to get.  How in the world can you tell where to aim on selfies?????
 He's stalking the camera strap.  I better stop.
Hope you had fun seeing these.......now back to working on my Day 4 post!!!
Introducing........
THE SPONSORS FOR DAY 3
MHK Designs
and
K&K Woodworking
 ***************************************
Click to shop!First on the list of sponsors today is MHK Designs!!!
Owner/designer Mynn Kitchen is known all over papercrafting land for her sweet and supportive personality and for her wonderful cards and projects. Just about a year ago, she launched her MHK Designs. I am not usually a big digi crafter, but I am IN LOVE with her digital designs!!! I just *had* to ask if she would sponsor and she answered right away with a big "Yes".
Purr-Fect Digital Stamp SetI knew right away which stamp set I was going to request. Her fabulous Purr-fect Digi stamp set. I LOVE this set so much and I know you will, too!!! Well, not only did she agree to donate this set as a prize, but she is also tossing in a digital paper pack, too!!! THANKS, Mynn!!!
Would you like to see what I made with that awesome digital set?
I had never colored a vintage image like this before.....and I don't have all the colors of Spectrum Noirs....so I had to mix them to TRY to get the right tones.  My bricks are way too bright!!!  You'll have to be patient with me as I am learning!!  :)
I used some Graphic 45 (also one of our sponsors!!) paper from the Times Nouveau collection for the background and some wonderfully delicious crinkly ribbon from Karen over at Little Scrap Pieces.  I am really pleased with this first attempt at coloring this kind of vintage image.....even though there is definite room for improvement!
Please take time to visit MHK Designs at these social media spots: Blog, Etsy Store, and Facebook Group. Don't forget to Like, Follow, Share, and Comment with a big "THANK YOU for sponsoring the 2016 Cat Lovers Hop at Her Peaceful Garden!"
*******************************
Do you like the bow I made for the above card???? And for the Unity card I made for Day 2??? I recently bought a handcrafted bow maker gadget off Ebay from K&K Woodworking. It has helped me so much to make attractive bows for my cards!!! (K&K Woodworking also makes beautiful signs and decor items out of wood. You'll see some when you visit their Facebook page to thank them for sponsoring!!! :) )
I contacted them about sponsoring this hop and they are donating one of the 6" Bow Makers!!!  WOW!!!  You can find all sorts of easy to follow instructional videos on YouTube to make awesome bows with this amazing gadget!!
Please take time to visit K&K Woodworking at their Ebay Store and Facebook. Don't forget to Like, Share, and Comment with a big "THANK YOU for sponsoring the 2016 Cat Lovers Hop at Her Peaceful Garden!"
DAILY GAME TIME!!!!!
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

MY SHOP The Daily Game is generously sponsored each day by Ike's Art!!!!

One lucky participant in Today's Game will win this prize from Ike's Art.  It's from her new digital stamp set " FLEAZ NAVIDAD " and called "Carol Cats".  CUTE!!!!

Here's the card I made from this wonderful digi:

Yes, that kitty DOES have teeth, but I realize now that I should have accented them with a white gel pen!!  oops...
I followed Ike's title of this image "Carol Cats" and used one of my silver double-embossed layered backgrounds (Darice - Music Background embossing folder).  A little speech balloon of musical symbols and the sentiment Joy to the World topped it off.  Hope you like it!

Now for today's game. It's easy...all you have to do is tell us about your first cat.

This is how to play the game to be eligible for the prize drawing:
1.  Leave a comment telling us about your first kitty.  I never get tired of reading about everyone's cats!!!
2.  After you finish your comment telling us about your first cat, fill out your (own) name in the link up below.  This doesn't have any thumbnails so no photo needed!  You don't even need a blog!!!  This is for everyone!!!  This link up will close today at 11:55 pm Pacific, October 26, 2016.  I will draw the lucky winner from the linkup, so don't forget to do that part.  However, I would still love for you to share about your first kitty in the comments below, even if you miss the linkup deadline!

My first kitty was named Rascal, a brown mackerel-striped tabby. (Maybe because of her, striped is still my favorite pattern for kitty coats!) I was only 6 or 7 years old and didn't know how to make friends with her....so even though she was my kitty, she didn't like me very well. I still loved her, though. She had a couple litters of kittens and my Dad said that was enough. Of course, my parents wouldn't spend money to get a female cat spayed, so instead I am sad to report that they took her and the second litter of kittens to a shelter where she was no doubt euthanized....and I can only hope where homes were found for the babies. I didn't know any better at the time, of course, but years later when I came to that realization I felt a deep sadness that I still feel this very moment. (Maybe this is partly why I could never part with any kittens that were born to us.) I don't blame my parents. Cats were disposable to them, I guess. I always had a cat or two while I was growing up, but Rascal was my very first.

Okay, now it is your turn!!  I am looking forward to hearing about your first kitty!

REMEMBER:  Link your cat-themed projects over on the
MAIN POST.  The link-up below is to enter the drawing for the Daily Game after you have told us about your first cat in the comments.  Thanks!!!
