Celebrate Your Day with Cupcakes!

Hi, Friends.....

I am here with another entry into the Winnie & Walter Rerun Challenge for this month. The featured set is Sugar Rush, which Shay encourages us to use if we have it. I don't own it, so I took inspiration from Shay's starry background and from the cupcake, of course! :)

Did you know that Winnie & Walter has super-fun freebies??? Now, some companies offer freebies that are...ummm...not exaaaaactly what you would really want to use on your cards. But the Winnie & Walter Freebies are fabulous!!! I'm not a big digi person, but I printed out a bunch during the very first W&W challenge I ever participated in...and I still enjoy incorporating them into my designs!

My card today uses the W&W 1st Birthday Bash Digital Elements Collection. Check it out! I love adding black matting around my panels for bold contrast and a touch of drama. :)

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - 1st Birthday Bash Digital Elements Collection
Winnie & Walter - Scenery: Bigger Bang Confetti stamp set (limited edition, no longer available)
Winnie & Walter - Sketchy Thoughts stamp set
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set

Paper Smooches - Gift Tags die set
My Favorite Things Die-namics - Stitched Square STAX die set

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed my card. There's only a day or two left on the Winnie & Walter Rerun Challenge....but that still gives you time to make a card for it. Hope you will join in the fun!!!

Cupcakes Just For You

Hi, Friends.....

I am here with an entry into the Winnie & Walter Rerun Challenge for this month. The featured set is Sugar Rush, which Shay encourages us to use if we have it. I don't own it, so I took inspiration from one of the DT cards HERE. I love how Heather used a trio of cupcakes and scalloped panels.

For my card, I used some fun Dollar Store cupcake felt stickers. As you know, the quality of merchandise at your LDS (local dollar store) isn't always the highest, but you can get some really good deals on cute craft items if you happen in on the right day! The icing pieces on these felties is thin and the dark felt background shows through a little bit, giving a dingy appearance. I remedied this by piling on glitter and sequins! Love that sparkle....YUM!!!

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set
Winnie & Walter - Big Hugs with Evelin T Designs stamp set
Versafine ink - Onyx Black
Sizzix - TH Texture Fades - Sparkles embossing folder
MAMBI paper
Glitter and sequins from my stash

Hope you enjoyed my sparkly card! Thank you so much for stopping by today.

Level Completed - Happy Birthday

Hi, Friends......

I have a fun card to share with you today. Fiki at Bad Kitty's Craft Room had this super-sweet idea to do something special for her hubby's birthday on Oct. 24th. She is asking her crafty friends to make a card and mail it to her to give to him. As a thank you, she has a nice blog candy prize GIVEAWAY where she will randomly draw a winner from among those who sent a card.

Her hubby likes to play games on his Playstation, so I made a Gamer Card for him with an old DCWV Generation Tech stack that I have only used once or twice before. Not being a gamer myself, I had to consult my son to see if any of the patterns would be appropriate for a Playstation fan! lol... So with his guidance on paper selection, I made this simple card. I like the look of the torn edges for this masculine card and isn't the "Level Completed" sentiment perfect for a birthday?! :)

Supplies used include:
DCWV Generation Tech Stack
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set (for background panel)

Hope you enjoyed my quick and fun techno card and I hope Fiki will like it for her hubby, too!! If you'd like to join in the challenge and get entered into the prize drawing, check out her post HERE!! You'll find instructions for emailing her for their mailing address. She is keeping this giveaway open until Nov. 15 to give plenty of time for cards to arrive at their home in Croatia!

Are you aware of the ABSOLUTE BEST DEAL
on the planet????  (this is NOT an ad....lol...)
Did you know that one-ounce letters can go worldwide from anywhere in the USA on one Global Forever stamp which costs only $1.20!! Isn't that awesome??? So even though Fiki's family is way over in Croatia, I can mail this card to her for only $1.20. What a fabulous deal!!! I am guessing that other countries have a similar deal....so just because Fiki lives on the other side of the globe from you does NOT mean it will cost an arm and a leg to send a card for her hubby!!
Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you will join me in making a card for this special occasion!!

Stars, Stars, and more Stars!!

We have a few cats with this "don't talk to me" attitude!  lol....
Hi, Friends......

I am back with another project that I made for the Winnie & Walter August Color Combo Challenge. Look at the wonderful color palette Heather chose this month:

This time I made a card and coordinating gift bag. I recently purchased the We R Memory Keepers - Gift Bag Punch Board. I love it! The maximum width of the gift bags it makes is less than 4 inches, but you can make them as tall as you wish. They are plenty big enough for small gifts and treats.

I also had lots of fun using my Winnie & Walter - True Multifaceted Star Cutaways die set for this gift set.

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - True Multifaceted Star Cutaways die set
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set
Winnie & Walter - In a Word: Happy Cutaway dieWaffle Flower - On My Mark stamp set
Versafine Ink - Black Onyx
We R Memory Keepers - Gift Bag Punch Board
Ribbon from my stash

Hope you enjoyed seeing my projects. I love that making gift bags also helps me to use some of my larger scraps!!

Thank you for stopping by!!!

Happiness Grows with Love and Care

Hi, Friends.....

I am back with another card that I made for the Winnie & Walter August Color Combo Challenge. Look at the wonderful color palette Heather chose this month:

NOTE:  I must apologize for my photography of late.  My phone takes lousy pictures and my camera is broken.  :(   In addition to those problems, this particular card uses papers and chippies with a glossy finish that produced a glare that was nigh unto impossible to remedy. Sigh....   I hope you can get an idea of what this card is supposed to look like!!!  I also used a tall format which further complicated matters in trying to get the whole card in focus.  Ugh!!!

Do you like the super-fun blue chipboard hearts on my card? My crafty pal Karen Ladd sent these to me a long time ago.....and I am ashamed to admit that I only recently found them buried in my stash!! THANKS, Karen!!! (I hope I am not the only one that loses things in their stash!!) They are the perfect color for this challenge and I think they go well on this tall format anniversary card.

I know you can't read the sentiment....but it says, "Happiness grows with love and care". Awwwww.....Aren't the little doggy and kitty sweet all cozied up together???!!!

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - Big Hugs with Evelin T Designs stamp set
Winnie & Walter - Big Hugs with Evelin T Designs die set
Winnie & Walter - Kindness with Evelin T Designs stamp set (some minor stamp surgery was required to make this sentiment)
My Favorite Things Die-namics - Stitched Oval STAX die set
Distress Inks for watercoloring
DCWV scraps

I am so disappointed that I can't show you a better photo of this card, because it turned out really cute. Thanks for bearing with me while I locate a new camera!!!

Hooray for Eclipses!....and a card. :)

Hi, Friends......

Yes....I saw the Total Eclipse!!! Yay!!!

Hubby and I traveled a little ways farther south in Idaho to the path of totality and attended an Eclipse event sponsored by our alma mater. We met up with several friends from back in our science-nerd college days and enjoyed some great presentations by a fellow alum who is an astronomer with the Smithsonian.

There were a number of telescopes set up the night before the eclipse for stargazing and also during the eclipse so we could see it projected on a screen....as well as view it with our funky eclipse glasses! :) It was sooooooooooooo AWESOME to see that beautiful corona during totality!!! So thankful we had clear skies...esp since today is smoky, smoky, smoky again. Did any of the rest of you in the USA get to view it?????

I made a couple of cards before I left but didn't have a chance to blog them...so I am playing catch up today. I made this card for a couple of challenges in particular:

1.  Winnie & Walter always has several fabulous challenges going on and I am participating in the August Color Combo Challenge.  Look at the wonderful color palette Heather chose this month:

The colors in my photo below don't look quite right, but they are much closer to the palette IRL than in my photo!  At any rate, my card was most certainly inspired by this color combo!!  :)

2.  I also am participating in Julee's August Viva la Verve Sketch Challenge this month.  Here's her sketch for us to interpret.  I flipped it mirror-image for my card.

As usual, I had to pull out some Graphic 45 to use for at least one of my entries into these challenges. :)

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set (has scallops) Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set
Graphic 45 - Children's Hour collection, Cityscapes collection, Artistic Style collection
Prima flowers
Nuvo Drops for flower center
Distress Ink - Walnut Stain for edges
Ribbon from my stash
Thank you for stopping by. I hope those of you in the USA were able to view some of the eclipse where you live. I would love for you to tell me about it in the comments!!! I'll be back later with another card to share.

Thinking of You with Unity, Serendipity, and Winnie & Walter

Hi, Friends.....

I am back with a last-minute card for the Winnie & Walter Color Combo Challenge for July. Take a look
at the fabulous inspiration photo and color palette that Heather H. chose for this month....YUM!! This is the last day for this challenge and I have had a lot of fun with these colors. Thank you, Heather H, for such an fresh and inspiring palette!!

On this card, I pulled out an old UFO (unfinished object) from my stash. I love this Unity Stamp mother bird on the nest. I stamped it with Versamark on a scrap of patterned paper and did an emboss resist with Distress Inks. LOVE!! I framed it with a dry embossed panel that I sponged with more Distress Ink. The colors turned out muted, but started out brighter like the palette. I love this soft effect.

Wonky Framed Happy Birthday Cards

Hi, Friends.....

I have a fatal flaw (probably several!!) when it comes to my crafting....I never want to throw anything away!! So when I had a bunch of leftover "outsides" of die cut panels, I immediately thought of FRAMES. But what do you do with a bunch of inverse scallop skinny frames? The only option for a crazy cat woman like me to do with them was to layer them in a wonky way! Thus began a whimsical cardmaking frenzy. :)

I have enjoyed playing with the colors from the Winnie & Walter Color Combo Challenge for July. Take a look at the fabulous inspiration photo and color palette that Heather H. chose for this month....YUM!! There is only a day or two left in this challenge, so hurry if you want to link up!!

My lame brain can't remember who sent me these cute little bird die cuts several years ago (Karen, do you recognize them????) ....but they had been in my stash all this time. I was thrilled that they matched the color palette and decided to try to find a way to use them. The mesh behind the die cut and the playful frame arrangement reminds me of a bird in a makeshift coop. I did a bunch of variations on this theme with various embellishments and embossing.

#1 - With dry embossed birdie and heat embossed hearts.

Supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set
Winnie & Walter - In a Word: Happy Cutaway die
Winnie & Walter - Kindness with Evelin T Designs stamp set (little hearts)
Versamark Ink
WOW! Embossing Powder - Opaque Bright White Regular
Waffle Flower - On My Mark stamp set
Versafine Ink - Black Onyx
Darice - Crackle embossing folder
DCWV scraps from my stash
Flower rhinestone from Dollar Store
Here are the other variations I made.  Please let me know which you like best!

#2 - With rhinestones on the wing and stars and rhinestones on the background.
#3 - With argyle tag behind the birdie.

#4 - Flower Power with dry embossed birdie (checkered).

#5 - With a silver heart from a scrap of DCWV Mercury Glass paper.

#6 - With different print for the Happy die cut and sparkly flower rhinestone.

Hope you enjoyed my fanciful and happy cards! Thank you so much for stopping by. Your visits and comments make my day!!
