Hi, Friends.....
I am here again with a big thanks to my new followers who have pushed me over that big 50-follower milestone!! Be sure to look at the bottom of this post for their introductions. Also, I have several cards I made and will have a separate post for them, so I will be over the 100 post mark!!! That means I
I am sharing today some cards I made for the MFP Tutorial Time Challenge, which was on making Distress Ink Patterned Backgrounds. I haven't had this much fun with a technique since I was spraying whipped cream all over the place!!! Ha!! I must have made 25 backgrounds yesterday with all my new Tim Holtz Distress Ink minis I received in a big JoAnn's order the other day. Toooooo much fun!!
My background sheet is from DCWV Fiber Natural stack. I used my Darice Leaf Background embossing folder and Distress Inks in Fired Brick and Spiced Marmalade. The texture of the fiber paper makes it almost look like I put this through the Big Shot and embossed it, but I only rolled it with my brayer.
The pretty little sunflower embellishment is from Mrs. Grossman's Natural Art and was a JoAnn clearance item. I bought one of each style they had in the bin and used them on each of my next few cards. LOVE them!!
The scripture stamp is from an ancient set whose box

Oooh, another amazing card with this technique! I also have the DCWV Fiber Natural Stack (or at least I think that's what it's called) but haven't used it yet. Now that I see how great it looks with embossing and inking I'll be motivated to pull it out! I also have a few of those Mrs. Grossman's Natural art embellishments but I've been hoarding mine...sigh.. Now that I see how beautiful they look with the distressed embossing I may even use mine eventually!
ReplyDeleteHa....I think this was the first time I had used my Fiber Natural stack, too! I loved how this technique worked with its natural organic puffy texture. I definitely need to pull it out more often, esp with autumn coming!!!
DeleteOkay, you and I need to take a "hoard-no-more" pledge together or something. I am really trying to use my stash. It's almost becoming more of a "horde" than a "hoard". I tell the rest of the family that we need to get rid of a bunch of our stuff......then I come home with more craft things!!! I'm sick, I tell ya.....sick!!! :D

Okay, you have shown me the way with you use of all these fabulous papers and embellishments and I will try my best to overcome my hoarding tendency and actually use some of this stuff! I remember a friend who once told me that using a piece of beautiful scrapbook paper on a layout wasn't wasting it or using it up...it was preserving it on a page. Instead of leaving it in a cupboard or a shelf where it would only get dusty and bent, I was giving it a place of honor in an album where it would last for decades! Good point, but I still have the hardest time cutting into a cherished piece of paper or using a favorite embellishment.
DeleteThat just means that most of my projects are made with only the papers and embellishments that I like the least...argh!!! My own worst enemy!
So tomorrow I'm going to try to find my Mrs. Grossman's fancy schmancy 3-D stickers and USE ONE!
I'm still waiting to see that card you are talking about........ :)

The gold embossed Bible verse really makes this card special.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sue!! I have been trying to use my Scripture stamps more often, lately. Sometimes I use them inside my cards, instead.
