Hi, Friends......
Hey, look.....I am actually getting a chance to share a project with you during Hop Week!! I am going to link this up in our 2021 Cat Lovers Hop Linky so you will come and see it, but nooooo I will NOT be in the drawings for the prizes. (I can just imagine it....."Well, looks like Hop Honcho won a big prize again this year!!" LOL!! That would be bad!)
Last year in October 2020, right before Hop, my little grandson Miles was born. He and his mommy live with us. What an adorable little "schedule destroyer" when I was trying to get ready for the Hop!! Well, this month he turned a year old and is now a "destroyer of everything"!! Ha. He is so cute, but his name should be Mister-Into-Everything!! ❤❤❤
For his first birthday I made a space-themed quilt for him. It's only a simple pieced-and-tied style quilt, but it was lovingly made by me...Grandma! Awwww... I have the corner folded back so you can see the planets on the flannel fabric of the reverse. LOVE!!
Naturally, I had to make a space-themed card to go with it. I used one of my old watercolored, sprayed, and splattered backgrounds that looked like a galaxy and put an adorable Newton astro-cat image on it. I added a couple of Dollar Store planet stickers in coordinating colors. I think it turned out so cute!!
Supplies used includeHere's a shot of Miles enjoying his new quilt. Aawwwwwww! ❤❤❤
Newton's Nook Designs - Cosmic Newton stamp set
Spectrum Noir alcohol markers
Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
Various inks and sprays on Mixed Media paper for background
Dollar Store stickers
Thank you for stopping by to see my projects! I hope you will join us for the 2021 Cat Lovers Hop. The linkup for new projects closes 11:55 pm Pacific Sat. Oct. 30! But you still have through Wed. Nov. 3rd to comment and win prizes. Be sure to Sign-In HERE...REQUIRED to be eligible for the prizes. Sign-In is open through Wed. Nov. 3rd also. See you there!!
❤
Janis

Oh my goodness, not only did you share a wonderful astronaut Newton, but now you make us all feel like slackards by showing the quilt you made while you were recovering from COVID. I think you need a super woman badge at the least. Miles looks like he's enjoying that soft, cushy quilt and what a wonderful gift.
ReplyDeleteLove you space kitty card, your quilt looks fabulous and Mikes looks like he likes too.

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Janis, Miles is so cuuuuuute! Happy birthday to Miles! What an awesome quilt you made for him. You are very talented - I wouldn't even know where to start with something like this. It will be family keepsake to treasure. Also love your coordinating Newton card and beautiful galaxy background! I can't believe all the things you've been able to accomplish with everything that you have going on - I am in awe of you! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute card. The colors and the background are great.
ReplyDeleteNow, that quilt......WOW, I love that. Those colors are bright and lovely. The backside is really great. I used to quilt but my shoulder said no more quilting for you. Picking the fabric was so much fun. Even if it did take an eternity. Happy Birthday to Miles. May he be less of a mischief maker as the years go by. I love his dinosaur pajamas. [Bunny]
Fabulous card and blanket!

ReplyDeleteA beautiful quilt and a PURR-fect card xoxo
ReplyDeleteLove the cartoon today, Janis, and your card is darling! I'm tickled to pieces that you shared the quilt (what a great effort to do all that work while recovering from COVID!) I have a new great-grandbaby due in late December and I have a quilt pieced together but not yet quilted. When I saw your tied quilt, I said to myself, "Self," says I, "why do all that sewing when you could tie it and it would look fabulous?" Thanks for the inspiration. And thank you for the marvelous hop this year. I'm sad that it's over already, but maybe you'll call on me next year to help out with whatever you might need. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteHello my dear friend! Thank you again for hosting this super fun hop - always a joy to participate. I'm going to try to make a pocket letter next year so that I can have 9 makes in one post! And then 4 more posts to equal 5!! lol I just adore your pretty quilt for Miles and the card to match is sweet purrfection! Love that fabulous BG. Can't believe he's one already!!! My oldest nephew got married back in May and I can still remember him as a 1 year old! Wasn't that just yesterday?!!? lol
ReplyDeleteMiles is so adorable with his new space quilt, and Newton is perfectly coordinated with the colors. I love the tied quilt design that looks really cozy. By the way, you are also out of this world Janis, for putting on a wonderful hop!
ReplyDeleteOh how adorable! Miles looks so cute sitting on his new quilt! Your quilt is terrific! And Miles is a cutie! I love the fabric you put on the back also! I used to make some charity quilts and a couple for family, so I know the work involved, and the love you put into them. And your card is wonderful too, and goes purrfectly with your gift! Thank you for doing this hop Janis! It has been so fun, and I looked forward to it! :)
