Flower Silhouette - Scraps on my Table 1

"Pure herring oil is the port wine of English cats."

Hi, Friends.....

I bet I'm not the only one who has been trying to clean up their craft table lately!  Am I right?  I have a myriad of scraps and snippets, bits and pieces of things that I cannot bear to toss......so I have determined to use a bunch of them this coming year -- starting now!

I found this flower silhouette in my heap the other day. (Actually it was upright in a little plastic box.....I absolutely refuse to confirm or to deny whether I have a true "heap" on the other side of my craft mat!)  It was a failed Perfect Pearls experiment that I had heat-embossed with sparkly powder.  I fussy cut around the image to make it usable, at last.

The tags, from a cute but neglected little K&Co. tag-pad were falling off the edge of my table onto the couch beside were also nearby.  Although I try to keep these handy, I hardly ever can find them use them.  Happily, the colors seem to be right for my image.  I stamped the tag on the left with an Oriental character background from the MFP - Works of Art set, using Simon Says Stamp ink in Khaki.

The navy background was another failed Perfect Pearls attempt.  The image never looked that great, so I wiped off the PP with a synthetic cotton ball....which only served to smudge it!  But I actually kind of liked the gentle, shimmery gold aura it left.  With the corner-punching, I think it looks nice behind the tags.

Here's an angled shot to show the shimmer and shine.

I wrapped some thrift store metallic gold yarn around the card and mounted the whole thing on a premade DCWV shiny, glittery gold card base.

As you see, I scored big on using bits and pieces from my heap (figure of speech only, still neither confirming nor denying!)  on this card (YAY!!) and I think it actually turned out kind of pretty.  Let me know what you think, too!!!

  2. Oooh yes!!! You would never even think that this card was made from left-overs from you heap (rumored though it is!) and it all came together beautifully! What a great idea to stamp the background image in neutral ink to add texture without being obvious! Sparkly and vintage....a great combination! Oh, and bravo to you for using tags!

  7. The language of flowers is frequently described with the word "floriography" and has many different descriptions in how flowers are used. Have you ever stop to ponder why the red rose is so often related to romance? Flowers have had symbolic meanings attributed to them for centuries, and probably longer, and some are better known in specific parts of the world.Lotus meaning
