GIVEAWAY: Viva La Verve Sketch Biltz - #5

Hi, Friends.....

I am back with Post #5 for my big 11-Post Blog Blitz where I made 11 cards using the Viva La Verve Sketch 2. I have a giveaway going on during this Blog Blitz so take a look at THIS POST for details. Comment on any or all of my eleven Blog Blitz posts answering the question(s) for each post to be entered.

Here's the sketch that I used for these eleven cards that I am showing you in this Blog Blitz:

I love the partial circle peeking out from behind the panels in this sketch. My Fiskars - XXXL Circle Punch is just the right size for this. Since only part of a circle is needed for this piece, my zillions of leftover 1" wide strips in my scrap bags were just perfect for this portion of the circle tucked in behind the panel. Yay!! Another way to use scraps that I hadn't thought of before!!!

Back to the saga...... All my pink scraps now were safely stowed out of sight back in my drawer, but I still managed to get ensnared. I had some apricot/coral scraps leftover on my craft table from some previous project. All I had needed for that card was one scrap of apricot cardstock, but I was so enamored with the other pieces in that gorgeous shade that I still had them out on my desk....hoping to make something with them.

Ooops... Another problem: coral and masculine don't really go together, even though I thought of teaming it up with gray. I tried a few coral and gray combos and wasn't satisfied, so I finally went girlie and monochromatic...again!!!! lol... Two monochromatic cards in the same week! Eeek!

The textured piece behind the sentiment panel is a thin piece of coral paper that I glued onto some white cardstock so it would hold up to dry embossing. After running it through my machine, I sponged it lightly with a horizontal sweeping motion with Distress Ink in Ripe Persimmon to show the pattern better. Love this pretty effect.

Supplies used include:
Distress Ink - Ripe Persimmon for sentiment and sponging
Darice - Paisley Background embossing folder
Verve - Scripture Medley 2 stamp set

Now for the Question for Post #5:
Do you have something out on your craft desk right now that you can't bear to put away yet because it is too pretty and you want to make something with it?

That's all for now. Be sure to answer the questions on each of my Blog Blitz posts by 11:59 pm April 30, 2016 for lots of entries into my big Blog Blitz Giveaway! See you next post!

  2. Pretty card! I love monochromatic!
I have trouble putting lots of stuff away... I tend to forget about what is not right in front of me. I have been sorting through some boxes and working at destashing, and I am amazed what I am finding that I had forgotten I had!

  4. Yummy!!! That shade of coral/orange is just luscious! I don't blame you a bit for skipping a masculine card in order to use these scraps. Can't believe I didn't even know about Ripe Persimmon distress ink, because it's a beauty. Loving the mix of texture and color in this gorgeous card. Right now I have some really pretty May Arts trim sitting on my desk and am conflicted between using it on a card, or making a doll dress belt out of it.

  6. Yes I do. I Might cut more pieces than I need and I would feel bad just throwing them away. I will say I can make a card with them. Your Cards are all beautiful and I really love this one.

  7. I'm a total pink nut but this card is swaying me towards my orange side! Funny you should ask but yes I do have something out on my desk at the moment though you wouldn't in a million years say a bottle top was pretty but I need 4 of them and sure as sure if I put the 3 away that are on my desk when The doc gives me the final one from his Grappa bottle I won't be abel to find them!!!!!

  9. I like the sponging you did on this card. I have some doily and rose die cuts that need to be put away but I think I will make some more cards first.

  10. I LOVE this bright pop of orange! I have 4 kitties, so I can't leave out plastic - -Omar loves to bite anything plastic like wrappers or envelopes, so at the end of the day, all of my unfinished cards go into this lovely plastic shoebox with a snap on cover. All of my dies are sorted by company and stored in plastic shoeboxes too. But I do have a corkboard on the wall that I pin up different inspiration items that I plan to use later.

  12. What lovely papers and colors!!!
If this were truth or dare, I'd probably take the dare because I have a 6" stack on my desk that hasn't been put away in ages because I want to remember to use it. But because they're special I feel I need time to do them justice and I haven't made the time for them yet. I have been thinking about making a crafting schedule so I can get to some of these back burner projects.

  13. I LOVE this card Janis. SO pretty and I really like the DI over the embossing on this card. It's so rich in colour. Very striking!
You need to have a "colour blitz" each month to motivate you/us to use these scraps up! Forget the prize and just do it for the motivation. Might just take the pressure off to produce a masculine card. Chances are, you'll make a stack of them! In answer to your question, I have 2 bowls on my desk, both full of pretty borders, coloured critters, distressed shaped just waiting to go on a card. I refuse to put them away as I know they will never be used!

Oh my gosh my crafting space is full of things that need to go back to their homes but want to stay out to play when my creative mojo comes back.
