Hi, Friends....

I am back with another card to share for the big Winnie & Walter - 3rd Birthday Bash celebration over on their blog!!! Not only do they have a GIGANTIC giveaway, but they have 10 different challenges that you can play along with.....including a chance at a big Guest Star slot, if you participate with at least 4 different cards starring their products!! (See their blog post for details on that.) Winnie & Walter challenges are among my favorites anywhere in the papercrafting blogosphere. I hope you will join me in wishing Shay and everyone at W&W a Happy 3rd Birthday and play along with the challenges!!!

I really have had fun pulling things out of my reject pile and making them into my Winnie & Walter entries. This time, while I was rummaging, I pulled out a stenciled background from a couple of years ago. It wasn't a W&W stencil, but I have modified it into a pretty card with my versatile W&W Essentials dies. Winnie & Walter offers several selections of Essentials Cutaways sets....I only have two of them, but I reach for them over and over and over!!

Can I just take time out right now to say how much I LOVE Winnie & Walter products?.....Particularly their dies! Several weeks ago I was organizing my die collection onto magnetic sheets.....and it all of a sudden hit me. Winnie & Walter ALWAYS includes a magnetic sheet in each of their die packages.....be it a single word die... or a coordinating set that goes with their stamps.... or a stand-alone set like their Essentials series. Not only that, but they are the only one of the 17 or so different companies that I own dies from that consistently does that! Sometimes we might not consciously notice these little extras that are included....but they make a huge difference!! THANK YOU, W&W!!! You are the best!!!

Products used include:
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Audrey Cutaways die set (scalloped rectangle and butterflies)
Winnie & Walter - Essentials: Katharine Cutaways die set (large pierced rectangle and banner)
Unity sentiment (from Feb.2015 Sentiment Kit)
Stamper's Anonymous - Wendy Vecchi - Build a Bloom - Stamp It (Stencils included in this package.)
Distress Inks
Stampendous - Stamp and Bond Embossing Powder
Clearsnap - Designer Foils
Ranger - Glossy Accents
Clear Wink of Stella pen
Versafine Ink - Imperial Purple
Clear embossing powder from my stash
Scraps of DCWV paper and cardstock for the panels, banner, and butterflies
Blue lace seam binding ribbon from stash
Pale blue ribbon from stash

I really like the restful colors of this card for a sympathy card. Like most of us, it can be difficult for me to make one of these when a sad occasion arises, so I like to have a few on hand.

Although the stenciling on this patterned paper background worked just fine, I was FOILED in my attempt at foiling the flower stamp. After relegating it to sit on time-out (for misbehavior) for a year and half in my reject pile, I relented and decided to embrace the arty look of the incomplete foiling and use it for this challenge. Somehow it looks a lot better to me now than it did at the time when I was horrified at the foiling flub!! (In case you are interested, here is a link to the "other half" of this background where I tried something different...NOT foiling!!! :) I am better at editing now and the colors you see here on my new card are closer to true.)

I am also playing along with Mrs. A's current Butterfly Challenge where she asks us to use the requisite Butterfly(ies) plus G is for Glossy Accents &/or S is for the color Slate Blue. I used both options. My little butterflies are colored with Clear Wink of Stella pen first, and then covered with Glossy Accents....which gives them a shimmery pearlized finish.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope to see you at my Virtual Birthday Party and also over at the Winnie & Walter - 3rd Birthday Bash celebration and Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge. I still have more cards to share with you! I will see how many I get posted today. Some might have to wait till tomorrow. :)

  2. Oooh, so pretty and is that fabric that you used?!! I don't know what perfect foiling looks like but this partial foiling looks so artsy and beautiful. I can't believe you didn't purposely go for this look. So many great textures, layers and techniques all combine in a lovely sympathy card that will bring comfort to the recipient.

  8. Such a fantastic card Janis and the colours are beautiful!
I have been following (and yearning for!) some W&W products for the past two years. Unfortunately this grandma only has the habit (not the budget) for all of the newest products as they release them so often but that doesn't stop me from :making my list!" LOL
Keep these beautiful cards coming, I love it!
