Hi, Friends......

Things are really busy around here with the October calendar filled up and with me getting ready for my Cat Lovers Hop coming up Oct.24-29.  My list of generous sponsors is just amazing!!  I can't wait to get it all finalized to share with you.  :)  I took time off from all the hop correspondence to make a card or two to share with you.

I was inspired by the farm lady and the bits of orange and blue in the fabulous magazine cover from this week's Papercrafter's Corner challenge.  It immediately made me think of my stash of Graphic 45 collections that I hoard with the protective instincts and glittering eyes of a mother dragon!  lol....

(Did I mention that Graphic 45 is one of the Cat Lovers Hop sponsors again this year??!!!  SO EXCITED!!)

I pulled some images and papers from several Graphic 45 collections:  Place in Time, Bohemian Bazaar, and Come Away with Me.....and put together this card.  I was tickled to find a farm-themed magazine cover image in the Place in Time collection.  It's not the "right" month, but the inspiration magazine cover photo isn't October, either!  :)

I call this a "faux fall" card, because at first glance it appears to be an autumn card with the warm colors and crisp blue....even the butterfly rather resembles an autumn leaf.  But it is actually a spring card!  lol...  Hey, I work with what I have! The G45 piece had a May date on it (even though it was from the AUGUST calendar page!!)....and you notice she is ready to plant...not harvest!  You see, I'm not the only one that is confused about the month!!!  Ha!!

I was delighted to be able to use a small scrap of gold punchinella (from a previous project) under my Prima butterfly for this card...also some checkered ribbon with a bit of cyan in it for Mrs.A's Butterfly Challenge of Butterfly plus Checkered and/or Cyan.  The butterfly seemed a little bland in its original plain yellow-tan color, so I stamped some random marks from a fall leaf stamp with Distress Ink in Tea Dye to add a bit of interest.  I also used an alcohol marker to tint the colorless gem body a golden color.  I like this look better.  :)

That's all for this card.  I'll share my second card (made from scraps of this one!) later today or this evening.  See you then!!!

Hi, Friends......

I am here with one last card for the Winnie & Walter WCMD Challenges. This time I looked to one of the designers for inspiration so I could enter the Winnie & Walter WCMD CASE with Lydia Challenge. This also does double duty for an entry into the current Winnie & Walter Rerun #15 Challenge.

I was inspired by this set by Gayatri!!!!

I don't have the lovely Scenery: It's a Wonderful Pennant stamp set that they are highlighting, so I made a card inspired by Gayatri's pretty set of cards for that challenge.

Here's my take:

I stamped the largest star from the (limited edition and now apparently discontinued) Winnie & Walter - Bigger Bang Confetti stamp set in a rainbow of Distress Ink colors.  Then I stamped the sentiment (from the same stamp set) with Versafine Ink in Onyx Black for a sharp image.  Lastly, I splattered several of the distress inks over the whole card.

You can see part of the process in this "craftie" of the card in progress ------>

That's all I have for you today!  Hope you have enjoyed my cards for these Winnie & Walter WCMD Challenges.  I want to thank Shay and all the talented designers for the work they put into this fun event!!! See you next time!!!

Hi, Friends.....

I am back with another card for the Winnie & Walter WCMD Challenges.  Tomorrow is the deadline so I hope you will hurry and join us, if you want to participate.

Did you know that Winnie & Walter offer Freebies????  They have some nice ones that are available.  I used one of the free printables from the The Gossip Column: Geometric Generation Digital Elements for this card.  I also used the fabulous Winnie & Walter - In Bloom: Maggie's Roses Cutaways die set.  LOVE!

I also took a "craftie" shot of this card in progress.  I was still trying to figure out which center to use for the rose.  I pulled out a package of black rhinestones and pearls that crafty friend, Karen Ladd, had sent me once upon a time and took this photo....but then decided on something else for the flower.  lol...  You can tell I have used some of this gift on other projects, though. :)

When I receive a gift or prize from an individual, I write their name on the pkg somewhere so I can remember to be thankful all over again for their sweet thoughtfulness.  Thank you, Karen Ladd!!!

Hope you enjoyed seeing this card.  This color combo is not my favorite, but I was game for the Winnie & Walter Pinspiration with Heather H. Challenge where they gave us this inspiration photo.  It was fun to give it a try!!

Have a lovely weekend!!!  I would like to try to get at least one more card in for these Winnie & Walter WCMD Challenges, but not sure how much more energy I will have for it.  Who knows???  Maybe I will see you with another one!!!

Hi, Friends.....

I am back with another card for the Winnie & Walter WCMD Challenges There is still a little bit of time to enter before things close up tomorrow, so please join us!!!

This time I made a CAS style card.......not the easiest for me!!  But it wasn't that hard this time because I was using some wonderful Winnie & Walter products: the W&W - In a Word: Happy Cutaway die, and the W&W - Scenery: Big Bang Confetti and W&W Bigger Bang Confetti stamp set.  (That last one was a limited edition and apparently no longer available....too bad because I LOVE it for coordinating with the other size!).

I am quite proud that my Clean and Simple style card is allllllllllllmost one layer!  Ha.

For this card, I first figured out where I wanted my Happy die cut to go.  Then I stamped the graduated sizes of stars from both of the W&W sets with Versamark ink using my mini-Misti......in case I needed to restamp them....which I did!  :)  I heat embossed them twice with silver powder.  Yum!

Then I used my Distress Ink color chart to find which color best matched my Happy die cut......Blueprint Sketch was nearly spot on!  I smooshed some of it onto an acrylic block and misted with water to make random splatters on my card.  You can see this process in this "craftie" shot.

Finally, I adhered the Happy die cut and my card was complete!  Yay!  This was a super-fun one to make....and easy, once I got the design nailed down.  It would be simple to replicate and I think it could be used for a variety of occasions when I need a masculine card.

Hope you enjoyed seeing it. I'll be back later today with at least one more card for the Winnie & Walter WCMD Challenges.  See you then!!!!

Hi, Friends......

I am back with another card for the Winnie & Walter WCMD Challenges.  There are a lot of great challenge themes over there and you still have time to join in!!  One of the fun challenges was to snap a "craftie" shot where you show your craft space (messy and all!!!) or some crafts in progress.  Sorry to say, my desk was too cluttered at the moment to use, so I pulled out one of the sideboards and made my card there!!!  Ha.
(LOVE this old monstrosity of an army surplus desk that James found at Loving Hands for less than $5.00!!!  It was too much of a behemoth to lug downstairs to his new bedroom, so I inherited it in situ for my craft room.  Yay!!)

Almost forgot to take this "Craftie" shot of the card.  Got one just before I put on the bow.

One of the W&W challenges is to make a card specifically for a crafty friend.  So, Karen Ladd, my very talented crafty friend.....who inspires me, encourages me, and patiently bears with me....this card is for you!  So HAPPY we bumped into each other as we entered the same challenges!!  :)
I had to lay this card down flat for taking the photograph because the ribbon kept covering up part of the H in Happy....made it look like it said "nappy"!!  I didn't want Karen to think it was referring to naptime or diapers!!!  Ha!

I followed the sketch for this week's Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge:

Other supplies used include:
Winnie & Walter - In a Word: Happy Cutaway die
Paper Smooches - Gift Tags die set
Crinkle Ribbon from Karen Franciola
Scraps from my stash

Thank you for taking a look at my card.  I hope you are having a great weekend!!!

Hi, Friends......

I am here to share an autumn birthday card that I made especially for our pastor, Kevin Davis.  Our family happens to be quite fond of this young man.   He is a gifted preacher, a serious student of the Bible, and a man who seeks Jesus with his whole heart.  We are so blessed that he is our pastor and our friend!

He also happens to love autumn colors.....so it wasn't difficult to know what to use for his card!

Here I used my double embossing technique for the background....first dry embossing with my Darice - Fall Leaf Background, then brayering Versamark ink over the textured piece, and finally heat embossing over the Versamark with gold powder.
TIP:  I love the extra texture of this coarser embossing powder for my double embossing, esp when I am making a masculine card.  It's not always the best for embossing sentiments or images (I have finer, smoother powders I use for those), but the rougher result is perfect for these backgrounds!!!  If you have some like this that you have considered tossing out because you don't like the results with stamps, try it with dry embossing!
I brayered and heat embossed this particular background two times to get a good build up of gilding on the leaves.

Other supplies used:
My Favorite Things Die-namics - Stitched Square STAX die set
Verve - Scripture Medley 3 stamp set
Versafine Ink in Vintage Sepia
Autumn leaf from Dollar Store
Scraps of cardstock from my stash

Hope you enjoyed this card.  I am entering it into several of the Winnie & Walter WCMD challenges.  There is still time for you to join in, too!!!  Thank you for stopping by.  I hope you have a great weekend!

Hi, Friends......

I am here with an autumn-y altered treat jar to share with you today.  I made this for a friend's birthday last week....and filled it with mini-chocolate bars.  Oh, yum!!!  (Good thing I didn't buy the bag of candy any earlier than I did or there wouldn't have been any left for my friend!!)

I stamped fall leaf and acorn images over some used sheets of gift wrap tissue and sprayed it with orange, gold, and brown mists.  Then I tore it into pieces and Mod Podged it onto my jar.  After it was dry, I wrapped this gleaming gold punchinella around it and glued on my leaves.

The leaves were punched from autumn-colored scraps of patterned paper from my stash and then dipped around in Distress Inks.  I added some Faber-Castell- Glass Bead Glitter Gel here and there over the jar and leaves for some sparkle.  Then I added the gold bow.

I am trying to keep this post short because I tend to get bogged down with my blog posts and that makes my mojo go away!  :(  So......please help me get my mojo back by entering my GIVEAWAY and by getting ready for the Cat Lovers Hop!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
