Wishing You a Joyful Christmas - April Rudolph Days

Hi, Friends......

Quick post here to get my April Rudolph Days card entered over at Scrappy Mo's. I am getting into the spirit of "using what I already have" and making tons of cards with old stash. It's so fun! I actually used up a small pack of embellishments on some of my other cards....lol... Yay!!

For this card I used some fun stickers that have been in my Christmas box for ages and an old Winnie & Walter printable freebie tag (so sad that company closed down). I added texture with a black burlap piece and a snowflake brad. Super simple design, but I like how it turned out.

Easter Blessings

Hi, Friends.....

Sorry for the long silences between blog posts. A close relative asked me if I had given up on making cards. I guess maybe I didn't get a Valentine or Easter card sent to her....and so she thought I had quit cardmaking altogether!! Whaaaa---aaat????? HORRORS!! What would I do with all these zillions of supplies in my craftroom if I quit????? lol... (Incidentally, I have given my hubby and son instructions on what to do with it all if I suddenly drop dead. :o Of course, whether or not they will remember is a different question!! lol...)

Well, I have NOT stopped making cards, but I have been rather negligent at getting things blogged. Before April gets away from me completely, I thought I better blog this Easter card I made from a lovely new die I won recently from Kat Scrappiness. (THANKS, Kat!!!)

I stenciled over a previously made leftover Easter egg dye background. I layered the diecut for a gentle shadow effect. I used scraps for the sentiment panel and the diecut shadow.

Molten, Metallic, and Monochrome - March Rudolph Days

Hi, Friends......

I am here to share a card for Scrappy Mo's March Rudolph Days. I am actually getting this one in a day or two before the deadline. (Only because, unlike the month of February, March actually has a civilized number of days!! lol...) So you have time to still whip a card up, also, and join in the fun.

For this card, I used one of my molten double embossed backgrounds that I had on hand and added a sentiment strip to go with it. I included some brads to go with the metallic theme....but then couldn't stop myself from adding adhesive gems to the snowflake background, too. So much for continuity...but that's okay. I really like how it turned out.

Purple Day Hop - Purrfect Friend

Hi, Friends........

I'm here today with a special post for the Purple Day Hop which supports Epilepsy Awareness.

Please take a moment and read the following:

Purple Day is a global grassroots event formed with the intention to increase worldwide awareness of epilepsy, and to dispel common myths and fears of this neurological disorder.
Further intentions of this movement are to reduce the social stigmas commonly endured by many individuals afflicted with the condition; to provide assurance and advocacy to those living with epilepsy that they are not alone in their ongoing endurance; and to initiate individuals living with the condition to take action in their communities to achieve these aims.
The day occurs annually on March 26.

Spring Card in Purple and Orchid

Hi, Friends.....

Is it spring where you live yet????? Probably not quite yet if you live in the North. (Or in the Southern Hemisphere!! lol...) Here in Idaho we had several days of spring weather last week and I noticed a few daffodils had opened up their cheery blossoms.  (None of mine, of course, but in some other yards...lol.) Yesterday was chilly with thunder and hail and today we woke to an inch of snow. The birds were singing throughout the day, though, so I know spring is coming!  

I have a pretty spring card to share with you today. I used a gorgeous die that the lovely hostesses of the Double D Challenges sent me as a prize a long time back. (THANKS again, Diane and Darlene!!) I teamed it up with one of my leftover Easter egg dye backgrounds. LOVE!!!

My "Quarantine" Project...Remaking Thrift Store Stationery!

Hi, Friends.....

No, I am not sick.....or in quarantine. Idaho is not under lockdown, but we are encouraged to not go anywhere....which is fine by me!    So I am just calling this my "quarantine" project since, like many of you, I am (rather cheerfully) staying home (and crafting...a little bit) during this virus thing.

Some weeks ago while shopping at a thrift store, I picked up a big box of 106 pretty Serenity Prayer stationery notes and matching envelopes in a lovely blue "parchment" finish. The notes are quarter-folded of paper weight stock.


I like the Serenity prayer, but sure didn't need 106 of them! And I actually picked up the box for just the envelopes alone. The thrift store price was unbelievably low...only 80 cents!!!


Well, I couldn't just toss out the notes, and I wanted some of the paper for making liners for my own cards. So I die-cut scalloped and straight-edged rectangles right through the 4 layers of each card to remake them into cards to give away.





That way I ended up with the decorated panels for card fronts plus liners for the inside of the notes and extras to use for myself.
 





I had some decades-old navy cardstock that a friend had given me....way back when the kids were young. I still had a pile of it and I knew it would be just right for these notecards.
 

So I went to work putting fronts and liners on the navy cardstock, and paired them with plain white envelopes...keeping the pretty blue ones for myself! :)







 




 

I bundled up sets of 6 notes, 3 plain edge and 3 scalloped edge, with envelopes into sandwich bags.








By the time I was finished, I had over 100 pretty envelopes plus 200 liners to keep for myself.....and a box of simple but attractive notecard sets to give away.  I will leave these at our tiny church for people to pick up if they wish (no church meetings until at least Palm Sunday for us) and donate any that are leftover elsewhere.

The Serenity Prayer is an encouraging one to remember during these trying times:

God, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

I hope you liked my quarantine project. It was a way to use the parts of this thrift store find that I didn't want....and a way to hopefully share peace and hope with others. I'd love to read about things you have been doing to spread joy and peace to those around you during this time.
